Splendid serendipity led us to stay at Hotel Victoria , Jaisalmer. The accommodation turned out to be real gem . A heritage pure vegetarian ( not even onions ) boutique hotel houses within the iconic “ living fort “ of Jaisalmer; it’s an experience in it itself . The rooms are in the ramparts done up in eclectic mix of traditional Rajasthani style . The rooms are housed in the ramparts and have commanding views of the city . The cherry on the cake is the terrace which serves as the perfect viewpoint for the most spectacular sunsets . A true treat especially if you want a sundowner.
The location of the hotels enable you to actually experience life in the fort and provide glimpses of a bygone era . There are lot of must visit spots within walking distance and the whole area is very safe to wander around even if you’re not familiar . The locals are helpful and friendly.
The hotel has a no restaurant but a small in house kitchen which provides all meals , simple but clean , fresh meals served at request . In addition the extremely helpful staff helps with any additional requirements, be it procuring food , beverages, transport and other sundry requirements. In the evening you can also enjoy traditional music to accompany and liven up your dinner.
The owner manager Pankaj was extremely solicitous and helpful as was Naveen the person in charge at the premises who smilingly, quietly ensured our visit was smooth making sure all arrangements were done be it early morning packed breakfast , medicines or transport for local sightseeing.
The room rates are dynamic as per season but overall well worth it .
Definitely recommend staying at this gem of a hotel.

If you’re looking to stay inside the walls of the fort in Jaisalmer I’d highly recommend Hotel Victoria. It’s a small hotel hidden away on a quiet street. When you enter the hotel you enter a beautifully decorated hall way. It’s so pretty. The rooms are lovingly decorated with local artwork and fabrics. Some of the rooms have their own balconies where you can sit and watch the sun go down over this historic and unique city.

Ever meal we had here was outstanding. Sitting on the roof terrace is gorgeous. Sunsets are amazing. The hotel is family owned and run and this definitely shows in the care they take of you. Nothing is too much trouble and you are made to feel very special.

Staying within the walls of the fort in this beautiful hotels in this fabulous city is a must if you go to Rajasthan.

We were so happy to stay at this hotel it was a wonderful experience. It’s location is perfect complete with rooftop restaurant which is where we spent the evenings watching the most beautiful sunsets. The hotel itself is clean and has an authentic feel and very comfortable bed. We were able to walk to shopping and restaurants although in our opinion this hotel has the best food. We especially appreciated Navin who helped us with arranging drivers and a walking tour which we loved! We highly recommend because this place has so much history and we learned so much. Navin as well as the other staff was always ready to help and we have never been treated so well. We have travelled many places and this by far was a unique place. We highly recommend.

Victoria hotel really goes by the phrase “Athithi Devo Bhava”. The hotel is located inside the fort. We visited Jaisalmer in Feb 2020 and stayed at Victoria. We were six of us and had booked three rooms. All the rooms were comfortable and beautifully done with all modern amenities. One of our rooms was west facing and usually in the evening we would sit on the window and enjoy our evening tea watching sunset. It was extremely calming.
The check in and check out process was smooth. All the staffs were courteous and took good care of us. As far as food was concerned, the staffs would prepare simple home cooked delicious food. Do not forget to have gatte and ker sangri ki subzi (traditional Rajasthani cuisine). The food used to be served on the rooftop. You can enjoy the beautiful view of the city while having dinner.
Tip – you can’t take your car / taxi till the hotel since its inside the fort and autos may not be available always. You will need to walk up to and down the hotel. Don’t worry about luggage as the hotel staffs would help you with that. They will take the luggage on their bikes. You may find it a bit inconvenient but its all worth it. If you are travelling to Jaisalmer, you have to stay inside the fort to experience the city. Explore the bylanes or galis inside the fort, do some shopping or just take a leisure walk.

This was 2nd time I stayed at Hotel Victoria. Last time I visited was in 2018 and fell in love with this property. The hotel/homestay is located in 850 year old fort and probably only living fort in India.

Hotel is only 100-200 meters away from the Palace and 500 years old Jain Temple inside Jaisalmer fort. It also has other good restaurants around in the fort where you will get beautiful view of Jaisalmer from top of the fort.

The room size might feel small but they are beautifully decorated and gives a very ethnic yet cozy feeling.

Window from our room had a beautiful aerial view of Jaisalmer. What I would highly recommend is enjoy its rooftop and the view from top of the Jaisalmer fort. Both times when I was there, I was enjoying cool breeze and beautiful sky, stars, moonlight till 2-3 am. I wouldn't mind sleeping on the terrace. Cities seldom have such beautiful sky and breeze these days.

It was a wonderful experience once again at hotel Victoria. Care taker Debiraj hosted us very well and made really delicious Maggi, Poha & Chai for breakfast.

My wife visited Jaisalmer for the first time and fell in love with this hotel and we shall visit again in future. I don't even wish to try another place after staying at Hotel Victoria.

Our booking experience with Mr Pankaj was seamless. We stayed in rooms 10 and 11 which are both family rooms with an amazing view.
The hotel is in the fort and one gets an unobstructed view of the entire city from some rooms and the terrace. Autorickshaws are available from outside till Hanuman chowk and from where the hotel is a 5 min walk. If you have luggage, the hotel will help with the transport arrangements as well.
The service and food both were excellent. We didn't feel like eating anywhere cuz the food at the hotel was simple, yummy and healthy!
Mr Naveen is the manager who does an excellent job and he helped us with sightseeing suggestions, food, shopping etc
A must stay when in Jaisalmer!

We stayed here and it was one of our favourite hotels during our 3 week tour of India. Clean, tidy and amazing view. Fantastic position near restaurants and markets. We were made to feel very welcome and would also recommend the trotters camal safari based just outside the fort

Positives:
1) Lovely heritage feel- the haveli is decorated beautifully and is quite comfortable.
2) warm hospitable staff- we were travelling with my mum who had knee problems so she couldn't climb a lot of stairs, but was super enthusiastic about this trip. The staff were really nice and gave her a room on the ground floor next to the reception area and allowed us to eat our meals there as the restaurant is on the rooftop which would involve a LOT of climbing (we did the rooftop dining just once for the experience, and it was an amazing one!).
3) location is a definite plus- me being a city girl, I have NEVER stayed in a haveli, especially inside the only living fort in India.
4) yummy food
Negatives:
P.S.: these are not really negatives, more like disclaimers to keep in mind while booking this property.
1) Steps, Steps and more steps. Steps of the height of around 8 inches or more. But saying this, most havelis that I researched, had a LOT of steps. So not a great choice for people with physical disabilities or for the aged.
2) Location is also a negative as cars are not allowed inside the fort. So in case you get your car or being a self drive like we did, you will have to leave it outside the fort. That goes for any accommodation inside the fort. But, this is a good thing in a way as most sights are within walkable distance from the fort. So location is both plus and minus. The advantage of booking with this haveli is that they will arrange an auto rickshaw to pick you up from the parking area and drop you to the haveli. So plus again.
3) As the haveli is quite an old structure, the rooms and bathrooms are quite small. So might not be suitable for people who are of a large built.
4) We went during the winter and it was freezing outdoors and our water wasn't as warm as we would have liked. So have taken the 0.5 from my rating out of 5.
So all in all a lovely comfortable stay and I would rate it a 4.5 out of 5.0.

Staying at Victoria hotel was one of the best part of our trip to Jaisalmer. location wise it is first of all inside the fort area so it was accessible to all the major sightseeing places at Jaisalmer where we could either walk or take local autos to roam around. The hotel ambience and the room maintenance stole my heart. I literally felt like I was the first one to use the room and washroom.room was spacious and everything was neat and clean. Their service and hospitality towards their guest were commendable. it was impressive that that they took care of guests well. The food they served was also delicious. Overall the place is worth the money and the comfortable stay made our trip a memorable one. I can surely recommend this to everyone who is planning for Jaisalmer trip. Kudos to Victoria hotel Team.

The place was recommended by our BnB owner in Jodhpur. I must say it was a brilliant recommendation.

We got a chance to meet the owner of the facility who welcomed us like family

Manager Navin and his team took good care of us .

All the aspects from first contact for booking to pickup from railway station to great care during our Stay were amazing .

The team is courteous and always willing to help. We were not in best of health when we arrived - the team helped us to get medicines and served food as per our request.

Food was made fresh , clean and good in taste . Coupled with view from balcony / restaurant make it memorable

The place is maintained with utmost hygiene. The location provides easy access to number of sightseeing nearby

Navin also helped us book taxi for our further travel and helped us in every way possible to make our stay comfortable in Jaisalmer

Overall Highly recommended !!!

You can park your car safely inside the fort. The gates stay open during the night but since everyone(even we) parks their vehicles here, so it should be safe.Call them prior to your arrival and they will send a tuk-tuk to fetch you from the fort entrance
