this is a hotel which looks like palace. This is a little old fashioned palace with no new architecture in it. service is fine and cleaniiness is average. sunset view is adorable . it is near the main market of jaisalmer, also the fort.
We stayed in the lovely Golden Suite , a large room of yellow sandstone with carved niches , and a good bathroom . The hotel is 10 minutes walk from the fort . Step out of the hotel and you're straight into the bustle of the town , but inside its peaceful . Lovely pool and we had it to ourselves every time we swam. The views of the fort from the rooftop restaurant are fantastic , and food is good , though the roof top lacks charm .
Heard from a friend today that the hotel refused entry to an Indian national in the hotel. This is setting a very bad example for the Indian hotel trade, to not allow your own people in the hotel. Reminiscent of South Africa under apartheid! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!
Fantastic hotel! - absolutely beautiful. The Restaurant was basily closed and took about an hour to get a grilled veg sandwich! - we where 2 of 5 people in there! Grumpy and uninterested staff and very expensive for what you get. nice pool. stand on the roof and watch the sun go down for one of the best views in Ragestan.
Pros 1. Heritage property 2. Photographer’s paradise 3. Secluded 4. Huge rooms (I stayed on the first floor) with period style furniture 5. Neat and clean 6. Manager and support staff are courteous and efficient 7. Swimming pool is nice 8. Breakfast served was as per our choice and good (arranged by the manager from outside) (though we requested it the night before – see cons below) Cons 1. Room service – what’s that ? 2. Restaurant –what’s that (had to go out for lunch) ? 3. Hot water – what’s that ? 4. Wifi- what’s that ? 5. TV (old and dipalidated) – so again what’s that ? 6. No arrangement for chauffers / drivers During our stay – we were the only guests ‼
Beautiful palace from the outside, terribly managed and in dire need of a refit- we love heritage hotels and old style accommodation but if the bathroom window has a hole replace the glass rather than tape over the hole, when repainting use masking tape rather than splashing white paint over blue wallpaper, and please ensure the plugs are still attached to the walls. This hotel is crying out for someone to manage it proper- the staff were appealing throughout, breakfast a joke- each evening we told reception what time our group of 13 would like breakfast at each morning we had to wait at least 20 minutes. You room is only cleaned if you request them to do so, and sheets/towels etc clearly on their last legs. This property is owned by the Maharaja of Jaiselmer and he should be ashamed.…
The building is magnificent no doubt but the hotel itself is awful.they charge so much money for a piece of property which is so bad.Dirty, bad bathrooms, no hot water. Breakfast is so bad and no choice. Highly disappointing. Needs a quality chk by staff before giving rooms the sheets were very dirty
Beautiful palace building a bit out of town. Rooftop view is beautiful with the Jaisalmer fort lying ahead. Rooms are unfortunately not well maintained, a bit fading, service is average as the place seemed also quite deserted and empty when we were there. Any request seems to lead the receptionist who hardly spoke English to call the Manager who is seldomy there. Bathroom could be cleaner and the hot water needs time to reach !!! Breakfast takes a long time....as well as WIFI. It is a pity as this place could be much better ! All of this doesn't really justify the room price.
We were group of ten adults and all first timers to jaisalmer. The hotel was booked by me so there was some trepidation on my part before the whole group bashed me. But thankfully the stay was great and memorable. Rooms were really big and spacious and well equipped including tea coffee maker and luxurious attached toilets. Though it was cold but we used the cute little pool in the afternoon. Breakfast was filling and sumptuous and they took care to change menu the 2 days we stayed. We had dinner once which we really enjoyed including the "red mutton" excellent arrangements for bonfire too. though Mr. Baboo was very helpful with local tours he arranged for them at a slightly higher price than prevailing rates but since our over all stay was so good we did not mind!!
Stayed here for 3 days in Jan 2016 and was impressed with the property. It is a very pretty palace turned into a hotel. The rooms are very large with high roofs. The staff was helpful and polite and also arranged for washing our cars. The breakfast served is quite good. The only thing that I would suggest them is to put curtains which can be opened. The current ones cannot be opened and so does not allow sunlight to come in.
