We had booked this hotel on a recommendation of a friend who had stayed there but, were very skeptical of what to expect. We even decided to take a single bag and keep the remaining luggage in the car itself while staying there. Due to the elections and a rally happening the auto couldn’t take us up so we had to walk all the way up (which we had done a day before when visiting the fort and, it isn’t that much to walk). On getting there the managers Mr. Manish and Mr. Bhanu were very welcoming and warm. The ethos that they have is that this is your home and we expect you to treat it like your home. They gave us the biggest room in the hotel (if you can call it that) which was comfortable for my family of us 2 and 2 kids. The room which we were given, Room No.8 has a double bed and quite a large Single bed which can accommodate an adult and small kid. The pillows specially were the best amongst the hotels we stayed at but that’s a very personal choice. We had a nice chat with Mr. Bhanu on the terrace from where, the views are to die for. He guided on things to do and specially places to shop at in Jaisalmer. In the morning, they arranged a lovely breakfast of local delicacies along with anything else we or the kids wanted. We definitely would have loved to stay another or a couple more nights because it was that warm and comfortable. A lot of people come to Jaisalmer without knowing you can stay on the fort or, they think that staying on the fort would not be a great thing to do. However, do take my word and visit this place, you will not be disappointed. It is an experience that has to be had once in your lifetime.…

A truly special place to stay, high above the busy city of Jaisalmer , within the fort wall. From our room we could look down upon the old city and out towards the horizon. The proprietors of the Killa Bhagwan gave us a delightful reception and made us feel that for the time we stayed, it was truly our home. To stay in this heritage property was to experience the past first hand while embracing the comforts of the 21st century. There is no lift and a few sets of stairs but absolutely worth it. While the hotel itself provides only breakfast, there are a several eating places close by or the visitor can venture into the old city.

It’s an excellent property that’s beautifully curated. The Banu ji and ManuJi and the entire team made us feel at home. Initially we were worried as how this property would be especially after seeing poorly maintained city. But to our surprise it was spot less and elegant. I highly recommend this property.

Killa Bhawan is located in the fort and is absolutely breathtaking. My room had views across the town of Jaisalmer, was immaculately clean and very comfortable. The staff are very kind and knowledgeable and they went out of their way to provide local information. The location is ideal because it is centrally located, so you can walk everywhere. If you visit Jaisalmer, you must stay at Killa Bhawan. I hope and pray that I will return in 2024. My heartfelt thanks to the staff at KB. You welcomed me into the space and it felt like home away from home.

I would happily rate 10 STARS ⭐️ our stay in Killa Bhawan and the positive influence this choice had on our overall stay in Jaisalmer. We enjoyed everything: the tastefully decorated rooms, the preserved authenticity, the rich history (imagine sleeping in one of the fort’s 99 bastions dating 900 years back), the breathtaking views enjoyed over a tasty breakfast or a cup of an evening chai. The customer service is outstanding, we took the advantage of the hospitality of Mr. Bhanu and Mr. Manish to extend their qualitative contacts to a local guide, evening dinner, desert sleepover, taxi driver… Every single time an over-expected service. A home away from home. What an incredible place to stay. The views, the hospitality and the location are second to none. Everyone goes out of their way to make you feel at home and encourage you to treat the property as your own. We stayed four nights and spent one day lazing in the property and enjoying the sights and sounds of Jaisalmer. We felt very relaxed and refreshed! Jaisalmer is a wonderful city to visit and if you can, I would highly recommend staying in this unique property.

Like all other bengalis of my generation, I had grown up watching Satyajit Ray's classic 'Sonar Kella' and often dreamt of visiting and living in this wonderful desert fort in Jaisalmer, which is probably the only living fort in India. Killa Bhawan made this dream into a reality. Situated within the fort, Killa Bhawan provides you a unique staying experience. Bhanu-ji, Manish and the team with their wonderful hospitality ensures that Killa Bhawan becomes your home away from home. We stayed in room no. 10, which not only had its own history but also a spectacular view of the Fort. Next time I visit Jaisalmer, I will stay in Killa Bhawan only, and that too in Room No 10.

Fantastic hotel situated in the old fort. You have a great view over the palace and the city. The service is excellent, they really treat you well here. They arrange everything you need. We stayed 2 nights and came back to wait for train and were welcomed again.

We loved our stay at Killa Bhawan. The hotel is a handful of clean, thoughtfully curated and very well air conditioned rooms set inside the Jaisalmer Fort. The hotel has a rooftop terrace where we enjoyed our breakfast and watching the sunset. This was by far one of our favourite properties during our stay in India. Besides the stunning location, the staff and especially the owners, Mr. Bhanu & Mr. Manish, are what made our stay extra special. They arranged a complimentary auto ride to and from the hotel upon check-in and check-out, accommodated an early breakfast for us the morning we left Jaisalmer, gave us tons of local advice, and even agreed to mail us an item that we left behind. They are always happy to have a conversation and want you to feel at home. There is always a fridge stocked with bottled water and the most delicious chai available any time. We look forward to staying at Killa Bhawan in the future and would highly recommend this property for anyone looking for an authentic and unique experience in Jaisalmer.…
