First off, it is very clear that the hotel manager, Mr. Harun Khan is very invested in making this the best possible experience he can for guests. He was extremely attentive and went above and beyond to ask us if there was anything we needed or could be improved.

I would recommend prospective guests go in with clear expectations, especially if this is their first experience camping in the desert (as it was ours). The grounds consist of a couple of rows of tents and a main dining hall. There is a central stage where there is an entertainment program in the evening and dancing afterwards. The cultural program was the highlight of our stay. The luxury tent was comfortable with an attached bathroom but definitely still camping and a bit on the rustic side. There is also no way to lock the tents and the very well-meaning staff will pop in quite often to bring you drinks, etc but I did find it a bit surprising at times. The food was solid for camping and dinner was tasty Rajisthani food. Dining on the roof was very nice.

There is not a lot to do on the grounds during the day and the surrounding area also does not have a lot for travelers to do on their own because you are in the desert. They do offer additional activities like a Jeep safari, dinner in the desert, and camel rides for an additional fee, which we did not do primarily because of cost. I think if you go in anticipating you are going to spend more to do these additional activities, you’ll have more to do.

A dream start to our trip to Rajasthan for which Sam dunes was our first choice of stay. We were picked up at the Jaisalmer airport at noon where we were welcomed by the roaring fighter jets, followed by a 20 minute drive into the city where a few Kms before you struck with view of the fort which gets bigger and bigger as you arrive at the city center. We were then taken for a quick lunch at a partner hotel followed by an hour drive into the desert. With absolutely no clue what to expect apart from the pictures seen during the pre booking, this journey starts getting magical. From the city humdrum to the silence of the desert and the desert spread all around. The road cutting through the sand makes it look unreal at the start until you get used to it.

Once we touch the Sam dunes area, the car was diverted off the main road into the desert towards the Dream desert royal camp.qe were recieved with a warm welcome and ushered into our room or must I say luxury tents. They were as explained earlier, very well constructed to ensure you feel safe, covered and insulated from the wind chill which was picking up by now. All requests for quick hot tea or coffee were honoured and given all times which was a blessing. After resting a bit, we were hurried to keep Safari scheduled for 5 pm for a lot of dune bashing and crazy ride in the desert. The more you enjoy the more the driver bashes the dunes making it so much fun. After an hour, we were taking pictures of the desert sunset and the camels around us. Once back we were welcomed with the arti n music, followed by fold dance music and DJ which were all very well arranged. Dinner was amazing with local vegetables part of the main course ensuring the day ended on a tasty note fully satisfied.

Early morning we were woken up for our camel safari, to the same place where Jeep Safari was conducted previous evening. Now we got to witness the sun rise and appreciate the beauty of nature in different light. The morning camel safari was much more peaceful and we suggest the same, instead of swapping the jeep Safari in morning which is an option.

To end the desert stay, we were served piping hot breakfast in the open area with tables and chairs quickly arranged exclusively for us to enjoy the warm sun in the chilly air.

Beautiful memories were taken and am sure someday soon we shall visit Desert dreams royal camp again.

Thank you Haroon n team for the hospitality.

A perfect desert experience
Review of Desert Dream Royal Camp
Reviewed yesterday
I spent two nights at the camp and had an experience of a lifetime.
The rooms were kept clean with a touch of regality :)
On my first evening at the camp, I went for sunset at the dunes. Mukhtiyar drove us to the dunes - we were a group of 7 people. The ride was crazzzyyyyy - you must experience Jeep Safari during your stay in the desert. If you enjoy a starry night, contact the camps prior to your visit, and they can plan a stay for you outside the camp area in the middle of the desert.
The next day I went to Tanot and Laungawala from the camp itself - they can arrange the ride for you if you request them. And spent another starry night in the desert. I would highly recommend jeep safari and spending the night under the stars.
In addition to this, I thoroughly enjoyed the Rajasthani music that played throughout the evening in the camp :D

We visited jaisalmer along with 6 friends. They provided us a cab for two days. We were provided a hotel in the morning. In the evening at 4 pm, we went to kuldhara village and sam sand dunes. We went for jeep safari, which was the best experience of this trip. There were 3 tents for us with all basic amenities. In the night there was a folk dance followed by rajasthani dinner.
Next morning, we went for camel safari. On arrival, we had breakfast and then left for jaisalmer city visit. We were provided with a complimentary guide who took us to all the important places around the city. In the evening the cab dropped us at the bus stand. The cost for all these activities was INR 2000 per person.
Mr. Harun and his team are an amazing host and makes sure to provide all the fact the facilities promised.

I spent one night with my sister at the camp for our stay in Jaisalmer. We were both excited and alittle anxious as to how it will be as it was just the two of us on the trip and to camp out in the desert. Harun the owner of the camp was most accommodating and very caring to our needs and well being. He arranged our Jeep Safari at the Thar Desert and Camel ride which was the highlight for our stay in Jaisalmer. We both absolutely had a lot of fun. The meals and evening program at the camp was also very nice. And the staff working at the camp were very efficient and made us the best masala tea for our breakfast. All in all, it was a very memorable experience and good value for money.

An amazing experience in desert camps at Jaisalmer. We enjoyed every details of the camp, which is neat and clean. The staffs were polite and professional.

We met the host as we reach Jaisalmer. The host also provided the add-ons such as Jeep safari, pickup and drop from the camp and an English speaking tuk-tuk for city visits. The host, Mr. Harun was friendly and professional indeed.

If you are taking both camel and Jeep Safari, my advise is to take Jeep for the sunset and save the camel Safari for sunrise. In that way you’ll get to spend more time in the desert to experience the atmosphere.

Every details in the brochures were provided to the guests. The cultural show and DJ party were good. Tasty Rajasthani dishes were served for dinner.

Worth the penny spent!

The hotel accepted our booking but directed to some other hotel stating that hoteln is closed for renovation. We had to cancel our booking. They ask you to come to some other place to collect yoir stay voucher and at last minute they inform you of the change. Unsuspecting tourists have no option but to accede to their diktat as the booking cannot be cancelled at last minute and you will loose your money. Read all reviews especially negative ones

My fiancé and I stayed here for two nights and we couldn't have chosen a better place in Jaisalmer. We were looked after so incredibly well by everyone, from the managers Shrishti and Harun to the group of boys who looked after our every little need-special mention to Hamje Khan, Elias, Feroz, Mukhtyaar Ali, Nazra Ali, Ayub, Bakshe Khan, Badey Khan and the very entertaining Farid, the camel guy :)

The desert Safari in the Jeep was too much fun-a fast car, great music playing, and amazing views. It led us to our camel ride on the sand dunes which was an absolutely gorgeous and unique experience. The sunset was a real sight to see and we took some beautiful photos. This was followed by a cultural program back at the camp and was a treat to watch with talented musicians and Rajasthani folk dancers. And the food, oh my God the food! Authentic with beautiful flavours that left you craving for more. It was our first time trying Rajasthani cuisine and we cannot get enough of it!!

The next day we had a simple but yummy breakfast and our driver took us around Jaisalmer for sightseeing. He was a great tour guide and really ensured we saw everything that Jaisalmer is known for. Back at the camp, the staff delighted us with a Valentine's day dinner in the desert which again, was an absolutely wonderful experience. The effort they put into it, I was so incredibly impressed. Please see the photos I have attached.

Thank you Desert Dream Royal Camp for helping us make beautiful memories. We cannot recommend this place and it's people highly enough. For what is meant to be a camping experience, the boys go above and beyond to make sure your stay as comfortable as possible. Will be back very soon!
