We went to Jailsalmer during Holi. As it was not a peak season and there was a forecast of heat wave during these days( 17th March to 19th March) so we did not book any hotel in advance. On 17th March, while still on our way from Jodhpur to Jaipur, we checked for hotels in internet. This one popped up and seemed to be in our budget. The Non A/c room charge was Rs 300 er day and for an A/c room it was Rs 600/-. As we compared this rate other budget guesthouses it seemed reasonable. So we booked an A/c room for next 3 days, with Rs 600 per night. Our plan was to be outside from morning 7 am to 11 am, rest in hotel room till 5/6 pm and then go outside. We were damn tired as we travelled by a non A/C bus and reached Jaisalmer at 3 pm. So after getting a bath we planned to sleep for fe hours. But then we realised that the AC does not work. It was switched on but the cooling was not happening. The manager( or whoever) did not give us the remote. After several requests he told us that the remote is not working. On the top of this there was a construction work going on just behind the wall of our room. We asked them to change the room but then he told us that this is the only AC room. He gave us many excuses e.g. they were not prepared for this heat wave, till last week they used blankets etc . We used to spent time in the terrace till 12 midnight and then came down for sleep with the window opened. On second day night , we managed to get the remote and realised that the problem is with the AC. We expected he would reduce the charges for the room. But to our surprise while checking out on the last day they produced a bill of Rs 2,250 which includes the first day lunch that cost Rs 450. When we argued with them that how could they charge Rs 600 for this basic room as the AC was non functional. Then he smartly told us that in his hotel the non AC room chare is Rs 600. This was really disgusting. After a heated argument he was ready to accept Rs 2000. During those 3 days none came to clean the room. The bedsheet and the pillow covers were not clean. The bed is terrible as one could feel the metal springs inside. The food was also terrible and very expensive.

I felt very much at home thanks to the kindness of Jamin and all his friends. Guesthouse was not even opened yet but he accommodated like a rajah. The Safari with Hussein ji and his camel Michael Jackson was an unforgettable experience. Hussein is a good man, a great cook and really made me feel the special hospitality of the people from the desert.

We slept at crazy camel for 2 nights and then did a 3 day and 2 nights safari with them. The people working at the guesthouse are just so kind and helpful. They do everything for you. They cooked for us when we arrived at midnight at their guesthouse! The safari was also just wouaou! Our guides, Hussein and his friend were so funny! They were also amazing cooks. The ride with the camel was also and amazing experience. It was a real non-touristical safari. We saw no tourists during the whole time. We really recommend this guesthouse to stay in Jaisalmer and to do a safari.

The guesthouse atmosphere is warm and welcoming. We were treated like family. Especially, I recommend the camel safari (we did 3 days/2 nights). I could not have enjoyed it more and had such a marvelous time. I would love to go there again - any time.

To be fair, I haven’t been to many guesthouse but this puts the others to shame. My room is large with great views of the fort just out the window (the location is honestly the best because from the common area on the roof you get a great view of the fort and on the other side the rest of the town). There are comfortable beds, good wifi by local standards and clean bathrooms which is honestly all I ask for. The rooftop cafe is great as well! I am used to in-house cafes to be overpriced and bland but this is anything but. The vegetarian menu is adaptable to different people (some friends I made while staying here didn’t eat any chilli while others loved the heat and I’m somewhere in between, we were all happy). Also, Habib makes the best chai in India in my books! Overall, absolutely loved and would highly recommend to anyone coming to Jaisalmer!
