Detailed Reviews
My wife and our visiting friends from the US booked a 1 night camel safari with the Real Desert Man, it was a fantastic experience! The company picked us up from the station and brought us to their HQ in Jaisalmer to freshen up as we’d come in on an overnight train from Delhi. The offer was generous, though the attached hotel where we given rooms to shower and change did not have any western comforts (the electricity was out, towels were provided on request, toilet paper was not provided, there was no hot water). Nevertheless, it was really helpful to be able to change and I’m glad they provided the facilities. Just be aware not to expect much and plan ahead.
After that and a spot of lunch on the terrace, it was off by Jeep for a one hour ride into the desert to meet the camels. Along the way there was a stop off at a ghost city that, while interesting, lacked context in our case and didn’t add tremendous value.
When we arrived at the camels, a team was there to greet us and everyone was super helpful, spoke better English than expected, and provided awesome service getting us up on the camels and off into the sunset.
The trek itself was gorgeous, though the camel saddles lack stirrups and we found our legs getting a bit tired. But it got easier as we went along and I’d say the ride in total was probably 1-1.5hrs.
Just before sunset we arrived at the dunes and the team that saw us off met us there with our bags in the Jeep. They guys also made a beer run, which was super A+ and made the sunset all that more enjoyable.
As it was Christmas Eve, they went the extra mile and got everyone Santa hats and even threw some decorations around a stick that they’d planted in the sand like a tree. It was above and beyond and extremely thoughtful.
The camp food was simple, and not exactly exceptional, but it was hardy and did the trick. In the evening, the boys had a camp fire and we all sat around singing Rajasthani folk songs interspersed with western Christmas carols. It was an extraordinarily memorable evening.
At night we slept on cots under the stars with some very thick blankets provided by the staff. Despite the heavy bedding and going to sleep with fully layered clothing, it was still quite cold. The team did say our night was windier than usual, and there is an exceptional windbreak which provides a lee for the cots. Still, we were ready for a warmup by morning.
Breakfast was at sunrise followed shortly by packing up and tracking back to the meetup point.
All told, the experience was once in a lifetime caliber. We’ve spent over a year traveling throughout India and have had all manner of experiences - this one stands near the top of the list in terms of value, service, intercultural connection, and just straight up cool factor.
If you’re planning a spin through Rajasthan, I highly recommend giving the Real Desert Man a call.

I booked an entire package of 3nights/4 days for desert camp plus Jaisalmer through the owner Mr. Sawai and it was a surprise for my husband's 50th Birthday. Right from the day I first contacted Mr. Sawai till the last day when we said goodbyes and came back home, Mr. Sawai was in constant contact over WhatsApp throughout and all our trip went as planned and was smooth and hassle free. There was nothing that he couldn't provide, whatever we needed was made available in a jiffy.
Thanks to him, we had a memorable trip of Jaisalmer.
We were five of us and the trip started with pick up from airport on time as promised. Then we went to the Real Desert Man Camp about 40km and we felt instantly welcomed and at home. The camp is wonderful with beautiful large white tents right in the desert. The tents are big with comfortable beds and a huge toilet with geyser for hot water. We just loved the camel safari in the evening. The staff boys there were very friendly and entertained us as they took our camels to the sand dunes to watch the sunset. It was the most amazing evening ever in our lives, we played in the dunes, took some splendid photographs and came back to the camp to be welcomed back with dhol and tika from the local folk musicians. That evening we enjoyed the folk music and dance show in the courtyard with bonfire and drinks and hooka to keep us warm. They even arranged a cake cutting for my husband's birthday and we had a gala time that evening with scrumptious local dinner with music and dance.
The next day day trip to Tanot Mata temple and Longewala Battlefield was also an different experience as we passed small villages and arid Thar desert, the driver providing us all the useful and local information along the way.
Next day we were feeling sad to leave behind our camp and the wonderful staff that were always smiling and cheerful and always happy and ready to serve you. We really are missing everyone there.
We next went to Jaisalmer city where we had a full day sightseeing of the golden Fort, Bada baug, the Jaisalmer festival which was last minute addition on my request which was easily accommodated by Mr. Sawai. Then we headed to Gadisar Lake for some tranquil boating time. Then later in evening checked in to our beautiful hotel Antras Inn. The hotel was a luxurious hotel with all the modern amenities and best hot shower ever.
Our trip ended next day with amazing breakfast at the hotel and drop to the airport.
All in all, this trip was an amazing experience and it was possible due to Mr. Sawai-ji and his recommendations. If you are ever planning a trip to Jaisalmer, he is your one-man solution to all your requirements. And the trip was quite reasonable in pricing too. Thanks to Mr. Sawai for our amazing family trip. He stands up to his name as The Real Desert Man.

This was our year-end family trip to Rajasthan for the first time and wanted it to be a memorable one. We got Sawai Singh's contact from another friend of ours who had recently traveled with him. From the very first interaction had with him over the phone, he had been very helpful in planning the whole trip. From arranging cars for our complete 9day trip to suggesting hotels at the 3 places and also arranging our 1 night stay at Khuri sand dunes. He gave us a detailed itinerary for the complete trip, including places to visit all throughout, but was flexible enough to make small changes to them based on our preferences. In fact he accommodated our last minuet request for Kumbhalgarh visit instead of the Ranakpur temples, all within the package cost. When we landed at Udaipur we had our cab driver waiting for us and from then onward we had the cab to ourselves for the rest of the trip. Mr. Sawai is a very soft spoken gentleman and was constantly in touch with us for the whole trip over phone, ensuring the trip is devoid of any unpleasant surprises and smooth. The guide he provided at Jodhpur, Mr. Nagendra, was wonderful. He guided us through the lanes of the old city early morning for the Blue City walk. This is a must do activity. Overall we are very pleased with our experience with Mr. Sawai.

The experience at the tents was really amazing. We were five adults (including 2 senior citizens). We were staying in 2 tents. We were provided early check in and also lunch was served to us upon request. The owner Sawai Singh, was constantly in touch with us via Whatsapp. He confirmed with us our time of arrival, comfort of stay, and if there was anything we needed. Although we had taken the tents experience, upon request, three beds were placed for us under the open sky near a bonfire for us to experience “the billion stars” which is one thing i will never forget in my life. All this was made available at no extra cost! The dinner ( especially Gatta curry) was delicious. The breakfast included fresh fruits, paranthas, poha, and meethi seviyan. The cultural show at night was splendid. There was alcohol and sheesha available at separate costs (a little pricey). Most of the tents were occupied by foreigners. The tents were quite clean. The washrooms were spacious and clean. The geysers are instant geysers and cannot expect them to provide really hot water. The camel ride to the sunset point is also an experience of a lifetime! Other than that the staff does its best to ensure the guests have a memorable stay!

This 3 day camel safari trip was my most memorable part of travelling, it was my friend, me, 2 tour guides and 4 camels. They cooked dinner for us in the sand by making a pit, we slept under the stars at night on a mattress star gazing and had the joy of riding camels through the day to a little village of children at their school. The days were very hot so we would sit under a tree for the hottest part and eat, then ride to our next destination. The tour guides one day asked if we would like a cold drink of Pepsi and me and my friend instantly said ‘yes! But where from?!’ So one of the guys walked into the dessert and came back an hour later with 3 big cold bottles of Pepsi, Mountain Dew and lemonade. We were so surprised but so great full. We also had the joy of a little puppy follow us the full 3 days, he would dig a hole in the sand so he could sleep next to us at night. So amazing!
I highly recommend visiting Jaisalmer and fitting this into your trip!

I am a photographer by profession and I have been here two times with my different teams. I must say both the times, my experience was fresh from a photographer point of view.
The Real Desert Man Safari Camp takes you into remote and isolated areas of the Thar desert during which you will experience visiting villages, native wildlife, sunset and enjoying the stars before returning to the city, making it an amazing photography opportunity for every photographer.
Talking about my stay,
Overlooking the city lights, my experience was at most comforting and peaceful with hospitality at its best. My stay was a bit of dune-bashing, a camel ride into the sunset, and an evening of local Rajasthani ker sangri, churma, kadi pakodi, Rajasthan’s authentic Lal Maas—- and most of all beautiful folk music and dance performances around a bonfire.
The outdoor stay in the dunes for the night was definitely worth more than staying inside a tent...it's a must try. And in the morning, we had a mesmerizing view of the sunrise right in front of us.
Management was very warm and Special shout-out to all the staff, they all were very courteous and full of warmth.
Wrapping up, it’s the best place for authentic camping in the Thar desert and also the best pick for authentic desert wildlife photography.
I definitely recommend to try this experience and this is indeed the best desert camp in Jaisalmer.

The camp is located in a quiet part of the desert, near the big sand dunes, where we experienced an adrenaline jeep safari with a romantic sunrise. Breakfast and dinner were served to us as a buffet in a dining tent with beautiful painted decorations. The food was not too spicy, as is often the case in India, which we greatly appreciated and really enjoyed.
The tent had working air conditioning, hot water and towels and toiletries. The overall cleanliness of the tent was at a very high level.
The evening entertainment in the form of local musicians and dancers was a cultural experience, during which we were also served refreshments and the staff was always at our disposal.
We didn't even manage to do all the activities on offer, but we would definitely come back here without hesitation.

The camel safari experience was great and they took us to nearby sand dunes. We spent around 3 hrs on the dunes till sunset. The evening folk music and dance was great and time well spent.
The luxury tents were clean and spacious. All went well except when rain gods decided to pour down in middle of the night. The luxury tents were not waterproof and in middle of night the water started dripping inside the tent. By morning the whole tent was wet inside. Since weather was not improving and we could not stay any longer in a wet tent we decide to checkout early.

Its amazingly clean and beautiful. Exceeded all my expectations. You have to visit and experience it first hand as pictures dont do any justice to the place.
I took a complete package with tent stay, camel ride, folk dance/song show and dune bashing in jeep.
I would say, the price was very reasonable even during the peak season and the experience was priceless.
I totally recommend this to my firends and everyone else.
The staff behavior is exceptional and they do their best to accomodate any specific needs that you may have.
