We came to India for 10 days, and really wanted to do a Camel Safari and camp in the desert. Jaisalmer was too far from our route, but we found this gem in Bikaner after reading a few blogs and getting a recommendation from a friend.

When we first looked at the website, we were a bit hesitant as it looked like it had not been updated for some time. Also, we could not find the location in google maps. However, when we called Yogi, the owner, all of our hesitations disappeared. You can either call him or send him a message via WhatsApp. Yogi is super responsive and friendly.

We arrived to the camp at around 3:30pm. As the location is not accurate in Google Maps, he made sure we did not get lost by providing very clear instructions. When we got there, him and his staff received us with hot tea and cookies.

We slept in one of the huts with bathroom and a shower. The room was very cozy and fresh. It was also clean when taking into account you are in the middle of the dessert (i.e no sand inside). We also had hot water!

We then had our camel Safari, which was about 2 hrs long. We did it with another couple. The Safari was great, we saw some animals, the camels were awesome and we enjoyed an amazing sunset. When we came back, we had a local dinner, which was also really good (vegetarian dinner). After dinner, the other couple, Yogi and us stayed for a longer time. Yogi shared a few stories about his life, as well as how the camp is maintained and built. He even opened a bottle of local rum for us to try and keep us warm. He also gave us recommendations for our next day in Bikaner.

The night was cold, but we had enough warm blankets in the room. The next morning, we had eggs and toasts.

We had initially paid for a campfire. However, we could not do it because it was too windy, so there was a risk that the other tents could caught on fire. Instead, Yogi offered us to take us around the camp on his jeep. This turned into an amazing jeep safari and saw some cool sand dunes.

Yogi went above and beyond, and we would definitely come back again. His hospitality was mesmerizing.

I went to Bikaner with my husband but came back with an extended family there. The owner, Yogiji, himself hosts the guests which makes the entire experience warm and homely. The biggest USP is the location of the campsite, its in the heart of the desert and you get to spot so many wildlife animals near the campsite like Deer, Nigai and if you get lucky even Fox at times. The Bhungas/Huts are very cozy and warm with very good quality blankets too, saving you from the bone-chilling desert cold at night, if you visit during winters. Also, what makes the experience even more unique is the dune bashing in the ISUZU, Yogiji is the only person who gives you this experience in this monster vehicle, which is a ride to die for, believe me!!!! And lastly, we got lucky to have the food which was served to us was made by Yogiji's wife which was like a cherry on the cake, you must have dal-baati made by her, I have rated this dal-baati on top, after tasting this famous Rajasthani delicacy in many other parts of Rajasthan.
So, its a must go place for an adventure seeker who is ready to alter the meaning of luxury in the lap of nature...in simple words it my go to place in Bikaner and it is highly recommended!!!!

This Is a MUST DO of bikaner.

The staff was very helpful and friendly from beginning to end, they were available at all times for any questions you may have. The camel ride was extremely peaceful and the random dog that stays at the campsite followed us all along adding more to the beautiful experience, the food that follows was delicious. The campsite is spotless and the facilities are well maintained

We traveled by road through Rajasthan and Gujrat in the month of December2019 and Bikaner was our first stop in the itinerary. Yogendra Ji helped us as much as he could for the directions, booking, and stay. The Rao Bikaji is a secluded desert camp that offers well-equipped SwissTents and Mud huts. We stayed in the mud hut and our car (Swift Dezire) could reach right outside the hut. The food served was authentic and marvelous. The highlight of our stay was the Kalbeliya performance by Miss Shehnaz (very lively and lovely girl) and her father. The duo just rocked our night. It was a pleasure to witness such a dedicated performer.
The best take away from our trip is Yogi Ji's friendship. He is one of the best hosts I have come across. We could see his sincere effort in making our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The morning we were supposed to leave, he took us for a jeep safari and made sure that we can witness some wildlife (Deer). Also, I wanted to click the picture of the moon-rise in the desert but the moon-rise was at 23h30 that night, Yogi ji made sure personally that I have my shot.

Rao Bikaji Camel Safari is an amazing place in Thar desert. Yogi and all the people who work in the camp are super friendly and will treat you like a family. You can admire wonderful sunset, enjoy the silence or walk around the dunes. Cottages and tents are cosy and comfortable, each evening you can enjoy dance show and delicious food. I highly recommend and I hope to visit it again!

We are a family of 3 adults and visited Rao Bikaji camp in Bikaner. Yogi is a perfect host and an amazing human being. He picked us up from the Narendra Bhavan hotel around noon and arranged a 3 hour camel cart safari in the desert. It was fantastic. One must carry chips to munch on the way. We reached the camp at 4 pm. Yogi was kind enough to organize lunch for us. The camp is amazing. It reminded me of Magpie Resorts Chopta in Uttarakhand. We chose the cottage, as we preferred it over tent. The cottage has basic facilities like clean bed, clean western toilet, solar power, etc. One shouldn't be expecting a 5 star facility in any of the camps.Hot water is available in the morning from 6 am onwards. Meals were like home food. We had several rounds of tea, as it was very cold outside. The evening Rajasthani folk dance was amazing. The next day, Yogi took us to the sand dunes by his 4 wheel drive. I usually negotiate with all hotels, whether it is in Switzerland, Italy, South Africa or India, but this is one place where I did not negotiate. Overall it was a fabulous experience. Value for money. My wife & daughter were overwhelmed. Lastly, I must mention that he didn't charge me for the lunch and the tea we had several times. He waived them off without even asking for it. Infact, he drpped us to Laxmi Niwas Palace, where we were to check-in.

We went to Rao Bikaji desert camp but not without any prejudiced thoughts and it was a totally refreshing and mesmerizing experience. Being a localite, I did not hope to enjoy much in surroundings so familiar to me.I was so wrong.I did enjoy to the fullest, the safari in Isuzu, the beautiful sunset, the rising and falling sand-dunes,the Rajasthani backdrop and above all the polite hospitality of Yogender ji and his people. The cottages and the tents are very tastefully done, they give you the raw feel of mud alongwith the comfort and luxury that we are so used to.Now, a few words about the mesmerizing sunset that we enjoyed in the evening with tea and snacks.Nature could not be more liberal in bestowing her beauty on the already sun-kissed dunes. Beautiful hues from the setting sun took our breath away! I wish I could stay back for the night and experience the sunrise too, but then, there has to be a second chance all the time.
A must-go for everyone!!

Very original experience to have. The cottage was really pretty and well-equipped, the dance show at night was amusing & the food served was simple but great. I would strongly recommend having a safari in the early morning as we did, since it gets really hot in the daytime.

Raobikaji resort is located 15 km from Bikaner. The hospitality offered by Mr. Yogendra Singh ji is really overwhelming. Isuzu desert ride, sunset, cultural dance ,dinner are awesome. .. Moreover this is eco-friendly means fully solar powered. Desert ride track is made extra bumpy to give you extra adventure.

Rao bikaji is a perfect oasis in the middle of Thar desert. They have two options to stay for. we prefer mudhut over swiss tents. Mudhut was very clean and bathroom was good too. They have good water supply nd heating system.
Jaisalmer tents are costlier but better .
In Bikaner the tents were smaller.
In Jaisalmer people have plenty of other options like paragliding parasailing and the thar desert is completely naked. You won't get herbs there. But in Bikaner desert is not that beutiful like jaisalmer.
The food provided by the manager is actually much larger quantity than you generally take.so if you are 3 then it's better to order for two.Yogender ji the owner is very helpful and he takes care of every small requirements. He arranged a 2hr camel ride for us.camel riding in Jaisalmer is costlier
Mr.Nanu is a great manager and lovely personality.
I recommend this place to everyone.

It was great pleasure to meet n host you all at Rao Bika camel safari in desert camp near Bikaner Rajasthan India as per you liked jaisalmer more than bikaner. The desert you seen in jaisalmer is cleaned by government around 4\5km of land even use chemicals to give you look of Sahara desert. If you drive 4 km any direction you will find trees n bushes in jaisalmer also , But as u know there is no land in India where it rain s and no grass grow . We don't clean our desert like it's done in jaisalmer they don't care for wild animals but we doo so don't clean whole desert like jaisalmer. Bikaner is natural authentic non touristic desert with lot of wildlife, wild birds, etc swiss tents in Bikaner and jaisalmer are of same size 14x28 squre feet Regards yogi
