Me & my husband visited Dongarmatha in December 2021. It was a experience of its own kind. The owners Mangesh & Shraddha are perfect hosts. They made us feel so comfortable that we felt as if we are house guests. They have developed the surroundings by planting thousands of trees specifically to maintain ecological balance. Birds , butterflies and worms of rare species visit this place. We thoroughly enjoyed the Nature trails Mangesh took us for. His knowledge of flora and fauna is amazing. Highlight of the outings was the day when he took us for a river side picnic. With chairs and breakfast stacked in his vehicle, he made us feel special by offering the same at picturesque location and clicking our pics for beautiful memories. Shraddha cooked yummy konkani meals for us. Evenings were spent leisurely at the living room , chatting, playing indoor games , listening to music. It was a very relaxing and pleasant experience for us. I highly recommend this place for evevryone.

Other than accomodation, for us, homestays are also about knowing a family and getting a peek into how they go about their lives and their enterprise. We started off our seven day stay at Dongarmatha as regular homestay guests, ended up being part of Mangesh and Shraddha's extended family members. They are super hosts, taking good care of each guest who visits them. Our seven day stay included an invigorating forest trek, an amazing waterfall trek, a crocodile sighting ride on the river Vashisth, a fort visit, fishing, a farm visit, night sky watching, early morning walks in the fields and loads of birding. Both Mangesh and Shraddha are avid bird watchers and have developed an ecosystem in their property that is perfect for  bird watching. Most days we sat on the front porch  watching birds all day long for which due credit has to be accorded to Mangesh for the thick tree cover that he has developed over the years. We did a forest night camp with them as well with tents and barbecue, which was the first night camp of my life. We had a great time trying to spot the elusive nightjar bird.  Both Sharddha and Mangesh's passion for  an eco-friendly living is reflected in the use of materials to build "Dongarmatha". We just loved the open dining space. Sharddha took great care of us while we were there, treating us to new dishes every meal and every meal was a treat. She was our guide as well when we visited places near Chiplun, always available on the phone to guide us throughout.  Most of the tripadvisor reviews on Dongarmatha have done full justice to what this place is. However, we were most intrigued by Mangesh, owner of Dongarmatha. Mangesh is an extremely fit, energetic and enthusiastic person. The conversations we had with Mangesh during our walks and treks gave us an insight into his philosophy behind creating the ecosystem that he has created at Dongarmatha. He is a grounded man and connects well with all his guests.    Vyom, their child is an intelligent boy and connected well with our son. He too, like his father, is a naturalist and loves animals.  Special thanks to Sumit, who took care of us while we were there checking our room for any nocturnal visitors every evening and keeping us safe. Sincere apologies to Shraddha and Mangesh for the delayed review. We hope to visit you again soon.

Dongarmatha - as the name suggest, is on the hill top. It's an excellent place for nature lovers and the idea of designing it as an old fashion village is marvelous. It helps one to completely rejuvenate from the day to day routine. Being located on hill top, access to a jungle is a natural advantage and the owner himself being interested in nature, takes care of you during the trek. Some places around the place are easy to access, including the trek in the jungle where the famous waterfall originates. Overall an awesome place to visit frequently.

The place is nicely designed among a beautiful plantation, and lovingly managed by the owners. The staff is friendly and eager to help. The home-style food is yummy. The rooms and common areas are spotless clean. The peace is distributed only by the chirping of a countless birds. The kids enjoyed the open and safe surroundings, as well as the board games and innovative toys collected by the owners. A perfect place to slow down, relax and come back rejuvenated!

Dongarmatha Ecocare Centre. What can I say about this place? Dongarmatha loosely translated as the crest of the hill (Dongar = Hill and matha = crest.) As the name suggests this place is truly seated on the top of a small hillock. This eco-care resort sprawls over an area of 5 acres. The place is the perfect getaway for city folks like Pune and Mumbai. It has a small rustic cottage with multiple rooms that are very cozy and extremely beautiful. Free from the city pollution and noise, it offers complete tranquility by making you a part of the nature. Free from the modern world gadgets like an AC or the TV set, you truly appreciate the nature. Who needs a TV or an AC when you can have a mesmerizing overhead view of the forest and the river while the cool forest breeze tickles as you spend your evenings in the verandah? The sweet sounds of multiple species of birds is the best music that one can hear. You can engage yourself with the nature walks on the forest trails or explore the breathtaking waterfalls near the resort. Free from the hustle and bustle of the chaotic city life, a leisurely stroll amidst nature is the best stressbuster. For me, the highlight of the trip was to spot crocodiles near the Vasishthi River which is around 10kms from the resort. Although the resort is surrounded by dense trees, its completely safe from wild animals or dangerous serpents. This place is the brainchild of Mr. Mangesh, a dedicated and hardworking environmentalist. Mangesh has himself developed and sustained this property that is nothing less than a mini forest. He’s an expert on birds, critters and the wildlife. He has immense knowledge on the species of birds that visit his resort. He’s an extremely good and warm host. Mangesh will guide you as your friend. Full marks to his hospitality. Expect some really delicious konkani style food over there. All the cooking is done by a local village lady, so you can be assured that its authentic. Shraddha, the better half of Mr Mangesh, supervises all the cooking job. Just like Mangesh, she is an extremely good host and friendly. While you are there you should definitely try the herbal tea. All the ingredients and herbs of the tea are inhouse. You can even buy packets of the herbal tea to take home. Apart from the herbal tea, I enjoyed the BLUE tea as well. Yes, the tea is blue in color. Special thanks to little Vyom, Mr Mangesh’s kid who prepared offered us that tea. Vyom is a very sweet, well-mannered and intelligent kid who has tremendous knowledge on the surrounding flora and fauna. Lastly, this review would be incomplete without a special mention to Sumit (the helping staff) who was very soft spoken, patient, caring and hospitable. He made sure that we don’t have any problems while staying there. The cool kokum sharbat that he offered was really refreshing. How to get there: There are multiple routes from Pune. Route 1: Mulshi  Tamhini Mangaon Mahad  Khed  Dongarmatha Route 2 Via Banglore hwy: Pune Kapurhol  Bhor  Poladpur  Kashedi  Khed  Dongarmatha Route 3 Via Banglore hwy: Pune  Shirwal  Wai  Panchgani  Mahabaleswar   Poladpur  Kashedi  Khed  Dongarmatha The roads are mostly good, but due to the ongoing roadwork, there are patches of rough roads in between. Expect a few ghats on all the routes.

We visited Dongarmatha between December 22, 2019 to December 25, 2019. We should have stayed longer. You will fall in love with this place as soon as you checkin. The View from rooms, the cleanliness, the hosts, the staff and last but not the least FOOD, everything is awesome. While the rooms are not luxurious, but are very comfortable. The hosts Mangesh and Shraddha will leave no stones unturned to make your stay memorable. Even the support staff are super efficient and extremely warm. We will be back for sure and very soon.

I had a very refreshing time over a long solo weekend at Dongarmatha. The place is on a lovely hilltop with good views all around. There are many hikes that one can do nearby. Mangesh and Shradha and team are friendly hosts who ensure that the stay is comfortable! Mangesh is also a nature lover and it's a nice experience to walk around with him discussing moths and insects! Dongarmatha is a beautiful getaway for solo/ family trips who want to spend time with nature in a simple unspoilt way...

This ecohome resort is a great place to visit if you are looking for a homely and cozy experience away from the chaos of the city. It is amidst nature on the top of a mountain. It is made using eco-friendly materials and has a unique design . Excellent views can be seen from the rooms. We enjoyed bird watching with the guidance of the host. The hosts are down to earth and give personal attention. Excellent Maharashtrian food is provided and the fish is their speciality. The stay is comfortable.

I visited dongarmatha during my short break to konkan with my family.my main goal is to give a relaxing atmosphere to all three of us and connect especially my son with nature and get him out of gadget world.i am happy to say I achieved much more.... First day in the evening vinayak guided us till dongarmatha top accurately and smiling.I was a bit sceptical about the resort when I had not seen it but once I reached up i got the confirmation that my decision was right.a small walk of 15 minutes took us little further on top of this mountain and we can experience fabulous view of river vasishthi and the sunset.chiku quickly became our friend as we came back and rested for while. My son was busy in some brainteasers and books! A change from mobile and tv. We were the only guest hence we had complete privacy and our own time. Food was homely and delicious. The sleep quality was like never before. Next day morning I could see so many birds just from our balcony...Mangesh helped in identifying many of them.a short walk to caves and the temple was refreshing! Exploring dongarmatha requires more time hence I have to come back again! Thank you so much to vinayak, mangesh and abhi look forward to meet you all again.
