We rent two bedrooms (single or double) with a shared hot-shower bathroom. Here you will live an authentic Indian family experience while enjoying comfort and privacy. We are located in a quiet area of Khajuraho at the edge of the old village, a few minutes' walk from the town centre. We live right in front of the Khajur lake and the Brahma Temple, and we can see the Vamana and the Jawari temples from our rooftop. If you wish you can also eat at our home: we have traditional Indian home cooking made by a caring mother who knows that Western tastebuds usually have a hard time with spices! Our kitchen is fitted with a UV and RO water filter. If you want, we will guide you in Khajuraho and around, making sure you understand our culture and traditions. We can also take you to neighbouring villages for an authentic Indian rural experience with breathtaking landscapes. Also available at ours: a brass, bronze & jewellery shop & henna tattoo.

I have actually stayed here during three visits in Khajuraho - and I will definately come again! The family is so helpful and friendly, the food is very good, the location is superb and the room is spacious and clean. I really love how you stay in an old and quiet neighbourhood - but within short walking distance to "downtown" (well.... as quiet as Indian villages comes at least). Ravi is fun and interesting to talk to - and will help you any way he can.

This is a modest establishment, even as per Indian parameters. So, stay only if you want to try for the sake of trying something different, or if you have budget constraints. The hosts are friendly and humble. The place is safe.

I just spent a wonderful week in an indian family home stay in the old village of Khajuraho. Sharing the life of this so kind family : "old" mama cooking great vegan food helped by daughter, having great tips from the two sons of where to walk, eat, see. Invited at lunch in a small organic farm where vegies were cooked on dirt fire, yoga on the terrasse.... And very very cheap nice clean rooms. Only two rooms for rent.. Hot warm water at shared bathroom... Real India + safe and perfect..Francois from Toulon France

We had a lovely time staying at Friends in Khajuraho. The room was comfortable and clean, the home cooked meals were delicious (especially the poha!), and Vijay and Ravi were so helpful. They gave us advice on where to go in Khajuraho and afterwards, arranged rickshaws for us, and made the time to talk with us about their lives. They are kind people doing wonderful work in their community. Couldn’t recommend staying with them more.

When we look for a place to sleep we dont look only for a bed, but also for a good location and of course good attention. Here in Friends In Khajuraho we found an amazing place, a very cozy place run by a very kind and attentive family. The room clean and very spacious, comfortable bed where I could have an excellent rest, I got an extra blanket so that I do not get cold at night. The bathroom, although it was shared with another room, was always clean, shower with hot water and with toilet paper, this may seem insignificant, but having a bathroom that does not lack toilet paper is not popular in India. This place is super well located in a very quiet neighborhood next to the old village and in front of bhrama temple also very close to the famous west temples of Khajuraho just 7 minutes by tuk tuk. They also have a menu where you can take on the rooftop the most traditional Indian food and very important if you order without spicy, they give you no spice. Breakfast rich and healthy, coffee or tea or chai, toast and fruit salad nothing heavy to start the morning It really was a great success to stay in this place I recommend it 100%.

The photos of their home on TripAdvisor are not photoshopped, there really is a temple 30 feet from the front door. If your interests run towards greater interaction with local people, you will be very pleased with your visit as the guesthouse is in the small older Khajuraho village. If on the other hand, your tastes run to high end hotels, you will not be happy here. We ate several meals with the Friends, having thali plates that were flavored with traditional spices, only made a little less hot for our palates. I can't give an excellent rating for the main reason that the bed was very small and very uncomfortable. But, I enjoyed the visit very much and our stay with the Friends added much to our understanding of Indian culture.

Hi Cliff, we are sorry you found the bed too small! Would you have told us when you were here we would have added an extra single bed for extension! Most people are happy with the mattress we have, but we shall look into softer ones nonetheless. We're glad you had a great time otherwise; it was lovely to have you at our home!

Our train was 12 hours late and Ravi (Vijay's brother) checked the train status online and waited for us, he went also to pick us up at the train station. Cause of the delay we needed to stay one night more and Vijay organized for us a night in a hotel in Khajuraho (we really wanted to stay one night more in "friends in Khajuraho" but unfortunately they had no more free rooms). He also managed a taxi for going to Orchha and Jhansi and also his brother Ravi helped us all the journey long. Breakfast and dinner cooked by Vijay's mother were tipical and really tasty. The house is 15 minutes by walk from the western temple, and it's located in the suggestive old town. Thanks to them the journey was great!

It is a lovely homestay just outside of Khajuraho. I came for the yoga teacher training course and stayed with them the first night and after the training finished for another night. There is always time for chai or a chat. The room itself is simple and good, everything you need. And very much enjoyed the warm shower after a month of only having cold showers in de yoga ashram.

I stayed three days at this amazing Family, before i made a yoga course in an Ashram close to the town. I travelled alone, so i was really thankful for the company of Vio and Vijay, they were so open and warm, i realy felt comfortable. They gave me a lot of advices and i learnt about Indian culture. The best of all was Vijays brother, Ravi he showed me the tempels, the town, the culture and so much more which i couldnt have explored by myself! During my time in the Ashram we were still in contact and meet again at my days off, we became really good friends. Also the house and the location is very beautiful, quite and peaceful but still close to the town. I really enjoyd my stay, without this family my stay would'nt be that special like it was! I definitly want to go back! Very recommended :)
