I just spent a wonderful week in an indian family home stay in the old village of Khajuraho. Sharing the life of this so kind family : "old" mama cooking great vegan food helped by daughter, having great tips from the two sons of where to walk, eat, see. Invited at lunch in a small organic farm where vegies were cooked on dirt fire, yoga on the terrasse.... And very very cheap nice clean rooms. Only two rooms for rent.. Hot warm water at shared bathroom... Real India + safe and perfect..Francois from Toulon France
We had a lovely time staying at Friends in Khajuraho. The room was comfortable and clean, the home cooked meals were delicious (especially the poha!), and Vijay and Ravi were so helpful. They gave us advice on where to go in Khajuraho and afterwards, arranged rickshaws for us, and made the time to talk with us about their lives. They are kind people doing wonderful work in their community. Couldn’t recommend staying with them more.
Got suggestions from by best friend of Khajuraho and i was just out amazed by their hospitality. Thanks to sirj and special thanks to Ravi bhai and brijesh bhaiya for the feel like home, i wish i had clicked pics
When we look for a place to sleep we dont look only for a bed, but also for a good location and of course good attention. Here in Friends In Khajuraho we found an amazing place, a very cozy place run by a very kind and attentive family. The room clean and very spacious, comfortable bed where I could have an excellent rest, I got an extra blanket so that I do not get cold at night. The bathroom, although it was shared with another room, was always clean, shower with hot water and with toilet paper, this may seem insignificant, but having a bathroom that does not lack toilet paper is not popular in India. This place is super well located in a very quiet neighborhood next to the old village and in front of bhrama temple also very close to the famous west temples of Khajuraho just 7 minutes by tuk tuk. They also have a menu where you can take on the rooftop the most traditional Indian food and very important if you order without spicy, they give you no spice. Breakfast rich and healthy, coffee or tea or chai, toast and fruit salad nothing heavy to start the morning It really was a great success to stay in this place I recommend it 100%.…
The photos of their home on TripAdvisor are not photoshopped, there really is a temple 30 feet from the front door. If your interests run towards greater interaction with local people, you will be very pleased with your visit as the guesthouse is in the small older Khajuraho village. If on the other hand, your tastes run to high end hotels, you will not be happy here. We ate several meals with the Friends, having thali plates that were flavored with traditional spices, only made a little less hot for our palates. I can't give an excellent rating for the main reason that the bed was very small and very uncomfortable. But, I enjoyed the visit very much and our stay with the Friends added much to our understanding of Indian culture.
Our train was 12 hours late and Ravi (Vijay's brother) checked the train status online and waited for us, he went also to pick us up at the train station. Cause of the delay we needed to stay one night more and Vijay organized for us a night in a hotel in Khajuraho (we really wanted to stay one night more in "friends in Khajuraho" but unfortunately they had no more free rooms). He also managed a taxi for going to Orchha and Jhansi and also his brother Ravi helped us all the journey long. Breakfast and dinner cooked by Vijay's mother were tipical and really tasty. The house is 15 minutes by walk from the western temple, and it's located in the suggestive old town. Thanks to them the journey was great!
It is a lovely homestay just outside of Khajuraho. I came for the yoga teacher training course and stayed with them the first night and after the training finished for another night. There is always time for chai or a chat. The room itself is simple and good, everything you need. And very much enjoyed the warm shower after a month of only having cold showers in de yoga ashram.
I stayed three days at this amazing Family, before i made a yoga course in an Ashram close to the town. I travelled alone, so i was really thankful for the company of Vio and Vijay, they were so open and warm, i realy felt comfortable. They gave me a lot of advices and i learnt about Indian culture. The best of all was Vijays brother, Ravi he showed me the tempels, the town, the culture and so much more which i couldnt have explored by myself! During my time in the Ashram we were still in contact and meet again at my days off, we became really good friends. Also the house and the location is very beautiful, quite and peaceful but still close to the town. I really enjoyd my stay, without this family my stay would'nt be that special like it was! I definitly want to go back! Very recommended :)…
I really enjoyed my stay at Friends in Khajuraho. The homestay is located in the old village, only 5 mins from the famous temples but in an authentic and untouristic location. The homestay is basic but has everything you need, hot water, wifi and electricity all worked well but the highlight of my stay was the wonderful hosts who really went out of their way to make sure I was happy as a solo female traveller. They were only too happy to drive me around, pick me up in the evening so I didn't have to walk alone and showed me some more offbeat places. It was especially interesting talking to Vio, who is originally from France but now married with a baby daughter in India, about her life here. I sent a parcel from Khajuraho and when, 3 months later, it still hadn't arrived Friends in Khajuraho made the effort to track down and find the parcel and resend it for me! Thank you so much for all your help!…
It was great staying with Vio, Vijay and Lila in their homestay. It was the perfect base to explore Khajuraho and was lovely to be away from the bustle and occasional hassle of the main town. The old village where their house sits is quiet and peaceful and we really felt like home. We recommend this to anyone and it beats any hotel or lodge hands down. Thanks again
