The Sarai at Toria is a beautiful riverside retreat close to the World Heritage site of Khajuraho and to the Panna Tiger Reserve. The eight independent cottages are created in village style mud and thatch but have spacious contemporary interiors. The dining/sitting area is an open structure commanding serene and stunning views over the Ken river, to the park's hills beyond.

4 nights was too short here. We had morning and evening- safaris, one night-safari which is very different from the others, and one slow boat- safari, no motor, on the river. It is very close to the park- entrance, just 5 min. drive. It is also close to Khajuraho, about 45 min drive, the Serai at Toria can arrange a car. Khajuraho is easy to see by yourself, 3 ours will be enough, the rest of the town is charming and tiny, some small shops and a market for the locals. Serai at Toria is an extraordinary nice place. The location is beautiful, the hotel is in a large nature- area some few meters up from the the riverside. The hotel fit in as local houses, luxury in an elegant balance between English and Indian with natural materials. The bathroom is a fairytale, and unordinary

This lodge is run by a couple who make your stay memorable. Raghu is a scientist who has researched the tiger population in the Panna Tiger Reserve (with a documentary and a book to prove it!) and Joanna is a writer/photographer who takes the lead in welcoming guests. As a couple, they make the stay a delight. Accommodation is in large, comfortable cottage-style rooms, spacious and furnished with traditional furniture. Access to the tiger reserve is quick and easy. The lodge itself is on a river front, on which we had an afternoon canoe ride, guided by an expert local boatman. We were able to switch a second visit to the park, which we did not want, for this canoe trip on the river, showing the flexibility and high level of customer service offered by the owners, Joanna and. What a wonderful place. We were so well looked after by Raghu, Joanna and their team. The cottages are very comfortable and the food especially delicious. We very much enjoyed our safari and everything about our few days at Sarai at Toria.

What a great stay we had here for three night and it's beyond our imagination. We had a great time with Raghu, Joanna, Piyush and our naturalist Mr. Jaipal and all the other staffs. The food was straight from the garden. We had the memorable marriage anniversary here . They arranged a special setting for dinner for us. They arranged for cake also. It's like we are celebrating with our family. A very special thanks to Mr. Piyush for everything.

If heaven were a place on earth, then this would surely be it! From the moment we arrived, until the moment we left owners Joanna, Raghu and their team made us feel like one of the family. Our comfy spacious traditionally constructed cottage room was designed to maintain an ambient temperature, all year round. Pleasingly, the Sarai is a plastic free zone, and we were provided with plentiful freshly filtered water, quality teas and locally produced eco toiletries in refillable glass bottles including a citronella oil repellent, though we didn’t see any mosquitos during our 3 day stay here. Set peacefully on the banks of the river Kenn, our communal seating area was open sided. We met for pre dinner drinks and home made snacks around a log fire, and dined under the moon by
