I stayed aprox 20 days in this Guest house because i couldnt move. What can i said is the owner is very bad caracter, trying to take advantage of the foreigners those dont know the real prices in India. Creepy atmosphere, not clean at all, small room and righ prices. My suggestion is have a look around.Have so many better options for more affordable prices . the bethroom was disgusting.Dont be in panic, just first week of january is full and they try to catch turists.
Really enjoy my stay @ this fantastic guest house, with its friendly staff & nothing was too much trouble for them. I found rainbow house most relaxing & peaceful in a really great location, close to ayushi the Ayurveda retreat, the north cliff beach, the black beach, shops & restaurants. I Would definitely recommend rainbow house to stay As I will certainly coming back again very soon. Here are some photos from my stay in India some of rainbow house the beach & an elephant festival.
I spent almost 2 months at Rainbow and it was like to find a new home there. The location is perfect, 2 minutes walking to the cliff and from my room I could see a bit of the sea. I loved to have breakfast on my balcony every morning. Nice rooms and very clean. I felt super comfy there. Amal is a star, he is the one cleaning and receiving guests. Zubin, the manager, sometimes cooks for everybody as he organises dinners downstairs... He is an excellent cook and you won't regret to try his dishes, yummy :-) Both of them ended being my wee family while I was in Varkala. I miss them already, super nice guys and laid back, always up for a chat and a laugh! The place is great value for money and you can use the kitchen facilities if you don't want to eat always outside. Decent wifi also and nice hammocks around the garden to chill out :) I love that place. I definitely will go back and stay there, it was pretty difficult to leave hehe. Best vibe in Varkala!!!!!…
I stayed here for one night on my own checking into a "dorm" thinking it would be more hostel vibes. Got there no one was around the house was empty, put my bag down and went out for the day. The "dorms" are a bed behind a big white floor length curtain, feels like you've been sectioned! So unlike a normal dorm bed you can't see other travellers and make conversation people were hidden behind curtains. House was silent, all a bit surreal. I ended up leaving a day early because the shower room was so gross, cockroaches flying around, mould, no water. Really weird experience all round!
This hotel to me is perfectly well placed: hidden from the roads and close to cliff with cafe and restaurants and Varkala beach. I felt like at home, relaxed, safe, enjoyed my morning coffee and evening tea on the terrace, hiding from the midday heat in the cool room. I have spent great time in Varkala and this hotel played important part in it.
Nearby access to all the action of the North Cliff and warm and amenable staff. A varying selection of rooms, and dorms with a 2 room 4 balcony on the top. It's relaxed and easygoing and 'relaxed but willing' also perhaps applies to housekeeping. Zubin and his staff are always keen to help and made our stay a great experience. Thanks
I stayed at Rainbow on two separate visits to Varkala. I stayed for the first time for 3 nights, and the next time for 5. I loved staying at Rainbow because there is a really friendly atmosphere. We had a communal dinner one evening which was unbelievably delicious and amazing value for money. The guys who run the place are really cool. They are welcoming, polite and helpful. I got an amazing rate for my stays which was the best I found in all of Varkala for the amount of comfort I received. I loved swinging on the hammock chair :). There was nothing negative about my experience here. I would like to add that I am not a fussy traveller. I accept gratefully all that I receive and choose to look for positives over negatives always.
Had an opportunity to stay at Rainbow on a visit to my Managers place. It was a calm and quite place with lots of natural beauty and vegetation surrounding it. The service was excellent and the rooms were also comfortable. The owner Mr. Zubin was very welcoming and he was more than happy to guide us with the recommended places to visit. These guys really know to make the guests feel more at home. I would definitely recommend staying at Rainbow if you ever visit Varkala.
I have stayed in Rainbow on 3 different visits and I have always felt welcomed and comfy there. As a pretty experienced traveller in India I find these rooms really clean and the pillows totally fine :) I have lived in rooms upstairs, they have spacious balconys with a sitting hammock.. really cool place to relax, its in the backside so have some mosquito screen on in evening time! the smaller rooms are also fine, double beds, a small patio and hot water for once! For me, this place is well situated in the back from all the partyplaces on the cliff, you will not get disturbed by the sounds in the evenings but if you would like to go and party the happenings are maximum 3 minutes away. Another plus is the owner and the staff, everyone is very friendly and care-taking.. If you need something, just ask and they will do their best to help you. I had some delicious dinners at this place the evenings when Zubin and his staff cooked food for us guest to a very reasonable fee, Try this place if you are in search for a homey place .. …
It was our 3 guesthouse in Varkala. We had changed them before we found this nice guest house. First of all this place has friendly atmosphere. Owner was friendly and talkative:) He organized local dinner (seafood and veg food) several time a week for guests. And it was like a home party with a lot of talks and drinks:) They have yoga place, but we didn't catch teacher) As a result, our second time in Varkala we drive directly to Rainbow and spend last week in India there.
