I’ve stayed in sunrise guesthouse for a week in there budget single room. It’s in a great price, on the roof of the hotel, great view to the beach, nice and cool washroom with hot water. WiFi was great. Location is fantastic, first row to the beach, next to the staircase off the cliff, not in a noisy place. All you can hear is the wave. And most of all, the staff was incredible. Super nice, very genuine and reliable. Really helped me. Plus the place is always clean. I would highly recommend! They also have bigger and fancy rooms in a very good price which I assume are great.

The food in the sun rise restaurant is the best we found on the cliff strip. It's good value for money, the staff are nice, the view is beautiful (and there is a breeze!), and the food is fresh and tasty. We tried a variety of vegetarian curries, naan bread, and the veggie burger, and they were all lovely. A great spot!

We rocked up to Varkala and was greeted by an extraordinary view of the ocean and heaps of options of where to eat and stay. We feel very fortunate to have landed where we did - with Mahesh at the Sunrise Guesthouse! Mahesh is kind-hearted and hardworking, ensured that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. It is only 20-m back from the cliff, which leads to warm waves. The breeze keeps the mosquitoes away. Given the location, the rooms were the best priced by far - my partner Andy I had one room for two weeks, my mother had the next room for two weeks, and then my partners brother joined us for the last 6 days in the next room because it was so good and he was in India anyway! Lovely Tibetan music wafts through from the restaurant in front throughout the day, and you can order a lassi or chai delivered to your door! Thank you Mahesh for our memorable stay.…

Myself and five friends stayed here for a week. perfect location and is in the middle of everything that you need. very clean rooms and bright. perfect place to wake up in the morning. Mahesh was the manager and he was so helpful. staying here is a must

Amazing place. Tiny room, tiny bed, bucket shower, cheap price (cheapest top floor cubicles) first day no water as there was no electricity but it has a million dollar view of the beach, sea and sunset My choice every time
