Detailed Reviews
Beautiful location with pool and quick to access black beach (5 min walk) or 10-15min walk along the cliff edge passed lots of shops, restaurants and cafes to north cliff beach. The hotel restaurant Kokosnoot is well worth a visit on the evenings as the food was some of the tastiest we ate in India! The staff were so helpful in helping us choose, especially Phillip. Staff are all very hard working. Yoga at the hotel in AM and PM with a beautiful view of the ocean, a really relaxing way to unwind. Room was big and clean. Loved our stay here.

Talk about perfect location and amenities – Krishnatheeram has it all. This is in the prime location of North cliff having an easy access to all the activities around. It is set on the coastline, overlooking the beach and the cliff.
They have a small restaurant that is in glass like walls allowing a good view of in and around.
The rooms are made in a cottage like structure in red brick colour making it only rusty and charming. We stayed in their Greeshmam room category. Our room had a pool view and a sea view. These rooms are Naturally built with wood and coconut leaf roofed.
It had a comfortable queen size bed and tea coffee maker etc
No television here as well.
Bathroom was spacious and had basic bath supply in it.
We had our breakfast at the resort. There was a choice to select from – Set dosa with Sambar and chutney and preparations of eggs. Breakfast could have more variety.
Krishnatheeram has various Ayurveda packages as well depending on individual requirements and needs.

We had chosen this hotel after during a lot of research and it was indeed a great decision. We had stayed for 2 nights. Check-in was smooth. Our rooms were across the street and not on the sea-side (which is housing the spacious newer rooms). The bed was very good. The room had a small balcony which can be used to dry wet dress after visiting the sea. The toilets were very clean and spacious with all the required amenities.
The food served in the restaurant was from a very good fixed menu covering most of the typical Kerala dishes. The staff in the hotel were very helpful and sincerely did some efforts to make us happy. It was also a buffet on Sunday. There was small pool and sea view area as well in the hotel. Overall it was a good value for money stay in Varkala.

One among the many line up of Resorts on the sea side cliff. Our family stayed at the single non AC cottage closest to the sea, which offers a great view of the sea from the window and is right next to the little swimming pool. Buffet breakfast was included in our tariff of Rs 5500 with extra bed. Breakfast was good, suitable for North and south Indians and Western (Bread, omelette, corn flakes). Beach is not directly available at the resort, but is a jolly good walk along the sea side cliff, about a kilometer. Go for it, enjoy the ambience and views

Krishnatheeram resort in varkala is one worst in the place. The rooms are very small and not worth the price. They have lot of red ants inside the room. Poorly maintained bathrooms. The food is horrible and highly priced. The safety issues are also a concern in this resort. In the night any outsider/Stanger walking along the cliff can access the resort. So we do not have any safety to sit around and have fun in the night with friends. Going as a group or just ladies will be a nightmare. They charge for water bottles and they do not provide any normal water for the stay. It is a money robbing resort in all means. Never recommend a stay here.

Stayed for a day.
Location is excellent (probably the best in that area). Right at the beach.
Rest all is average - service, room size, accessories in room, pool size.
Breakfast buffet- Limited options. Needs improvement.
We had a Chicken fried rice in the evening which was good in quantity and taste.
There are many cafes and restaurants within walking distance.
There is spa in this resort which we didn't avail so can't comment.
Overall it was a good stay because the location made up for the shortcomings.

My experience at this resort was beyond disappointing. From the moment we checked in, it was clear that cleanliness was not a priority. The rooms were filthy. To make matters worse, the food was downright inedible, with bland flavors and questionable freshness. It felt like the management had completely abandoned any semblance of quality control. Overall, I wouldn't wish a stay at this resort on my worst enemy. Save your hard-earned money and find accommodations elsewhere.

No bar, they have a restaurant but I don't think you can order alcohol there. Restaurants nearby serve alcohol.
Tiddles, I'm not sure about the accuracy of some of these replies, but it also depends on how you define "shopping and restaurants".
If you mean shopping mall or supermarket then there is none.
This is India, even holiday touristy India.
There are stalls selling the same thing (clothes and tourist stuff) all along the cliff. Krishnatheeram is at the bottom of the cliff. As you come out of the resort there are a couple of restaurants to the right but the rest is to the left as you walk up and along the cliff, about 2km to "helipad" . Restaurants can range from Cafe style, to juice bar, to nice sit down places. You really are spoilt for choice regarding cuisine and number. I recommend Abba and the Tibetan kitchen.
Hope that helps.
Its not advisable to take a bath there. You could walk over to the beach which is just 5 minutes away.
You could call the property and talk to a resident doctor during daytime working hours. That would give you the best answer.
Hello Milena, indeed i can't find any prices.. If I remember well the separate massages/ treatments were between 900 - 2500 rupees. Prices of a real therapy need to be discussed. If you send a e-mail they will perhaps send you a list, but many things can be discussed on the spot. Enjoy. Best wishes, Sophie
