Good location near beach, glad we didn’t have to climb up steps to North Cliff all the time. Near some good restaurants. However the Owner (?) Mr Prakash seemed very disengaged and not very interested in communicating with us. This contrasted with everywhere else we stayed, maybe he was experiencing issues in private life or something as this also seemed to contradict the good things said about him in other reviews. On arrival no information was volunteered about area, facilities etc and we only found out by chance on day 2 that a Kerala breakfast option was available. Lady who dealt with breakfasts was a lot more smiling and friendly but didn’t have much English. Also found a very large cockroach (about 6-7cm) in bathroom on first night which wasn’t a great start - though do appreciate this can happen in warm climates and also in top hotels. The presence of packs of wild street dogs in the area was disconcerting- especially during one night when in addition to the usual howling there was a dog screaming as if it was being torn apart by the others, which sadly may well have been the case.…
Excellent Room more than adequate and spotlessly clean as was the whole guest house. Hot water in the bathroom which is not always guaranteed in this area. Quiet and peaceful area 2 good night's sleep for us. Up a steep hill but was ok for us but if your not to good on your pins... may be an issue as is Varkala in general Owner Prakash was a really decent guy . Complimentary breakfast was lovely... enough to fill you up for the morning .. Compliments to Prakash and the establishment
We opted for a non AC room because it worked out alot cheaper than an AC room (they charge an extra 750-1000 rupees per night for AC!) but this was a big mistake... Even with the fan on full speed it was just way too hot! Furthermore, the bathroom had no ventilation in it whatsoever so it was very hot and stuffy. The power also cut off for 15minutes which made it so much worse (this place is not backed by a generator). Worst part however was the way we were treated by management on checkout the next morning, he accused us of breaking the balcony door and claimed it had come off the hinge. We inspected it ourselves and there was no such issue! He had put a door stopper in front of the door which was stopping it from closing. He would not let us leave untill we paid another 500 rupees and was saying that that's not alot of money for us and referring to our professions in the UK. He took my husband's bag and would not give it back to us untill we paid another 500 rupees. Having gone back and forth and wasting so much time, we were eager to catch our train and just get away from this horrid man so we paid the 500 rupees and got out of there! Do not tell this person what your occupation is as he will try to swindle more money out of you even though we already overpaid for this particular room! Yes, unfortunately these people exist! …
Hospitality of the Manager Mr Prakash is exceptional.. place is simple, clean and quiet. Breakfast is served in the balcony with the beach view.. there's nothing I can ask more for a one week full of relaxing moments in a place that makes me feel like im home.
Nice room very conveniently situated , very quiet and relaxing place, the room was simple but comfortable .Breakfast was served on the balcony , it was very good and the coffee was excellent , something we rarely found in India. The lady of the house was very friendly and helpful, would definitely return there , actually one of our best experience in IKerala.
Our stay at Basuri Beach Resort in Varkala was a very nice experience owing mostly to the owner Prakash Ji, who welcomed us with coconut water, and a free WiFi Password. The location is very good with just a few minutes downhill walk to the Papanasam Beach. One can get a good view of the sea while enjoying the swing chair in the veranda. The resort has a very serene atmosphere about it. The rooms are clean, spacious and airy. Prakash Ji and the other lady are very homely and provided us an excellent breakfast at not a minute later than our asked time. The resort is a great value for money, and I would certainly like to stay here in my next trip to Varkala.
nice small hotel with a good location very close to the sea. You can hear the sound of the waves from the room.Rooms are big enough and comfortable. The best place on the balcony for a nice evenings.you can see the sea and listen to the sounds of the sea. Neighborhoods is very good for walking. Not far from the hotel - some excellent restaurants with good different dishes. It should be said about the cleanliness in the rooms and an excellent breakfast at a convenient time. Prakash ji is very polite and friendly. You get a lot of benefits if you are staying in this hotel.
Very, very good budget resort at the start of south cliff. Clean rooms with air-con and private bathroom. 150 m. from the beach. Fantastic view from roof terrace. Close to a number of restaurants and ritchaw stand. If you want a quit room away from north cliff, it doesn't come better.
I have had a very nice stay in Basuri Beach Resort. It was quiet and clean. The rooms are not luxury, but they are spacious and have all what you need. My room was on first floor with a balcony and a little view to the beach. The balcony has glas windows and you can open them, but it would be much nicer if the balconies are totally open to the beach side. That's my only very small point of critic. If you have any questions, Prakash is always very kind and helpful. For me Basuri it's one of the best places to stay on South Cliff .... and a good value for money. I'm sure, I will come again soon.
The „Basuri Beach Hotel“ has more the character of a pension than a hotel. Surrounded from palms it is well located at the South Cliff, near end of the Temple Road, where it is quieter than at the North Cliff. Just about 250 meter is the distance to the beach! During our 4 week stay in the hotel mostly was quiet and relaxed. The very friendly manager, Mr. Prakash, mostly was round the clock present, helpful and always to seek for any conveniences of the customers! A little disadvantage is the lobby in the stair case, because the ringing’s of the telephone and the talks sometimes can be unpleasant. All the rooms are clean, simple furnished and functional. Two rooms in the first floor have AC. The view from the balcony is beautiful and the way to the beach just 200 meter! The little 8− Room Hotel is situated little backwards from the small road. − Yes, like 2014 we felt well also in this year! By the way: After a short walk, you can get at the “Temple Junction” the local bus to Varkala City (approx. 3 Kilometer). There you can find for shopping anything and also the good vegetarian Restaurant “Suprabhatham”.…
