Hey guys 🙂

I spent 15 days here in December and I was very pleased with my choice. The owner and the staff are very nice and always there to help you with anything. It is very clean and they are offering room cleaning whenever you want. Between the rooms there is a nice lounge area, very peacfull and relaxing where you can read or just chill. I liked to have some tea there during the day 🙂.
It is located close to the cliff where is "the center of happening" 😃. With all the shops, restaurants and helypad, where you can always take a tuc-tuc to the city or to some other place.
There is also a small local shop near the Ashiyana, where you can get yourself some good little bananas (ten for just 10 rupees 😀), or anything else.

I felt like at home here!

It is a lovely place.
Bilal and Mariyam is wonderful people that made me feel so welcome and relaxed.
Located near just a short walk away from the beach it is perfect place to explore Varkala.
It was sad to leave after ten days there, but I had to go to someday come back.

Very nice place 3vmin walk off the cliff, very calm, very clean, very helpful staff. Rooms have AC, own big bathroom and specious, there is a big fridge with freezer compartment. The owner is very helpful and solve your problems and the nature is wonderful. The yoyga Shala is in the roof in a magic way. I stayed here for 11 days and I hope to go here next year as well.

Had a clean, spacious room with plenty of storage areas in this well run hotel.Run by a lovely couple who go out of their way to ensure your stay is pleasant. Also had a private meditation session with Mia (?) which was very beneficial. A big thank you to you both.

A desolate and unpleasant and not clean home stay. Nothing related to a resort. Don’t do any laundry also if they sad they can do it. The conditioning system and fan are really dated and noisy if working. Room and bathroom big spaces but very bad condition. Blankets smell badly. No breakfast neither kitchen. Just a kettle.

I made this booking over booking.com and the process used by them was quite unfair. I was quoted a “Total Price” of Rs 1350/-. It was also mentioned that no payment was required upfront but was to be made directly at the hotel. So, I went ahead and booked. In response, I got a confirmation mail from booking.com saying that taxes @ 20.90% would be charged extra. Also, this booking was no longer cancellable. I found this whole process – whereby additional charges were specified after confirmation and that too without any possibility of cancellation – to be quite unfair. I mentioned this to the owner/ manager Tariq at the time of check-out. He grew very hyper all of a sudden and accused me of being dishonest and of trying to avoid tax charges. He did not understand that my criticism was levelled against booking.com. Anyway, after some time, he realized the folly of his behaviour, and repeatedly apologised and repeatedly took his words back. But, by then, the damage had already been done :-( :-(

Even apart from this incident, our stay was nothing to write home about. There was no electricity during part of our stay and there was no generator back-up. Consequently, the water also could not be supplied to the overhead tanks – as a result, the bathroom was without water and we had to use bathrooms in other rooms. Also, the room where we were made to stay did not actually belong to this resort but had been rented in from the shopkeeper who has a shop adjacent to the property. This room was distinctly inferior to the other rooms which were located near the reception of the resort. Also, no restaurant facilities are available at this resort.

All in all, not a very great stay.

I am surprised how this place has ended up being rated as number 1 B&B in Varkala despite all this. It may be interesting to look into this.

We stayed at the Ashiyana for just over a week in a cottage towards the back of the property. The stay was very pleasant! The room was in great condition and well maintained with clean sheets. The hosts were always friendly saying hello and Tariq was very attentive, always seeing if he could help and how we were doing. Scooter hire available at a good rate and tea available for free in the social area. Water coolers in our room and in the main building meant we never had to buy bottled water, a winner to reduce plastic use. WiFi also included. Would visit again.

I booked a cottage room that has nothing to do with the standards of the rest of the hostel: old, dirty, hard foam mattress and really dirty, like sheets and towels. Many bugs (the bathroom drain is a hole in the ground with mud sticking out). Booking.com sent an email offering the superior rooms for the same amount that the cottages and manager of the hostel refused for two days to give them to us, they didn't do it until we threatened to leave. The hostel rooms (superior) have a bad value for money. There are many accommodations in the area for half the price of similar characteristics. the wifi when it works, it's really slow. Although on its website said that all rooms have baths and king size bed, is not true. The cottage have "shower" with no pressure and standard rooms, at least where we finally got, it was queen size. The hostel is run with an absolute lack of professionalism. The only obsession of Tarik, one of the partners, is that you visit their store, his cousin and his restaurant. Travel Assistance zero. I would not recommend to anyone.

I stayed at Ashiyana for 5 nights and were wery pleased. The hotel is located about 200 meters from the cliff down to the beach so its very quiet but at the same time very close to everything.
Very nice beads for india and clean as well.
The internet (Wifi) is very fast and stable.
The AC was completely new so they where perfect.
Very affordable!

One can not ask for more then what Ashiyana gave me. The location is beautiful, the food is delicious, the service is outstanding and most of all the people are pure, welcoming and heartwarming! To be able to stay here whilst taking (more than just) a yoga retreat with Karuna Holy-stay has exceeded my expectations! What a beautiful stay! Thank you for everything! With love, Els
