Its location is exceptional. It is on the top of a cliff overlooking the Arabian Sea and has direct access to Varkala Beach, ideal place for swimming, yoga, exercise, take a walk or watch the spectacular reddish sunsets. In our restaurant, "Tibetan kitchen," one of the best and most popular in this area, you can taste the exquisite flavors of India and Tibet and also the western ones. We organize all kind of activities and excursions, from quieter, such as navigating the Backwaters, a series of freshwater canals, which extend along 900 km of great beauty, surrounded by palm trees, tour on elephant, visit to the temples... Suitable for the more daring, such as paragliding. Our desire is to satisfy our customers and make their stay both in our hotel and in Varkala, as pleasant and complete as possible.

Worst "massage" ive ever had. The lady talked through the whole thing to her colleague next door, she was on her phone texting and would randomly stop the massage, she complained to me about how much she works etc and was generally very rude and uncomfortable to be with. The place wasnt clean and it wasnt private or in any way relaxing. The massage itself was just being rubbed with an excessive amount of oil with no technique whatsoever and she cut me with her nail. There was no privacy at all. When i got up in the middle of it to leave she tried to hold me down and restrained me by the wrists! My boyfriend's was the exact same and he left during his. Definitely dont go here! Had to argue for a refund

I didn’t stay but went for a massage treatment with friends. We all 3 came out and had the same conclusion. The worst massage we’ve had, awkward staff and very unpleasant. While stripped naked the door was opened several times during the massage, a mobile phone was answered during another, the other had the massuse changed 3 times, not by request. I asked more than once to increase the pressure. (I’m super selective so if I’m asking for a stronger massage that’s a big thing) it was purely an oil rub down. Overly expensive and just terrible. So many other places to chose. Please do yourself a favour, unless you want to be smothered in oil, with your privates on displah for the entire place and rubbed awkwardly for an hour.

I didnt stay at the hotel but went there for an ayurvedic massage. The massage itself was good but the place...Oh man it needs some really good cleaning. Filthy and disgusting. No towels to lie on, dirty rugs to clean the oils off your body, bathroom that hasn't been cleaned for years. I didnt expect a luxurious massage parlour but some basic hygiene would be really appreciated. Although massage was good as I said, I would never come back there

This is a budget hotel with basic rooms. I stayed in a non-ac room for 6 days. It was clean and neat. The bathrooms are very basic with a simple tap and shower. The staff are lovely and it is located right on the north cliff in the midst of all the action facing the sea.

We stayed here for 4 nights in June. The room was good, clean, comfy and spacious, had AC and an ensuite bathroom and sea views. The balcony was nice but not clean unfortunately...ants and food rotting on the sill - which seems easily rectified so a bit of a let down. No breaky included. I think during the low season the staff change, and although they were friendly there were a few indiscrepancies... Tibetan kitchen next door was good, and you can get morning chai or breakfast there & there are plenty of places to eat and hang out along the cliff top.

This property has an outstanding location overlooking the sea and this won us over when we initially checked in. Ernesto, the guy managing the front desk was really friendly and helpful and provided us with most of the local information. The room was nice but a tad bit small, and did not have a TV - but that was something which we were aware of while making the booking itself. We experienced a couple of long power cuts as well but they have a nice sit-out on the 1st floor where our room was - so the sea breeze did not leave us disappointed. Breakfast was included in our package - and it turned out to be pretty nice as well. Otherwise there are tons of food joints around this place.

Except for great location on mid-cliff this hotel has not much to offer. Simple rooms, low service standard, no cleaning, many power cuts (which lead to awful hot nights in the room without fan or a/c). Breakfast options nice at Tibetan Kitchen with sleeeeepy staff.

We arrived here after a long trip down from Cochin. The staff were friendly and immediately made us feel very welcome. Our room was basic and clean, but we were expecting more for what we paid. We were grateful to be able to drop our bags in a clean room, just a short distance from the glorious Varkala beach. If you like a hard bed you will not be disappointed (for me it was fine), if you want to flop down into a marshmallow mattress this might not be the place for you. Despite instruction from the friendly folk on reception, we never persuaded the shower to produce hot water. Hilltop has a good bar / restaurant area, the staff are extremely friendly and courteous, we returned there several times even when we were no longer residents. We stayed here 3 nights out of our 12 in Varkala, in terms of our actual room, Hilltop was a little overpriced and a little disappointing. However, the attitude and friendliness of the staff drew us back to use their restaurant several times.

This hotel is below the standard we expected. Bed linen was clean but the pillows and mattress was disgusting. We were only staying 2days so we put up with it as the position was fab over looking the beach. On the last day I slipped on the wet room floor and really badly injured my back, smooth tiles and water do not mix. My daughter complained to the manager saying how dangerous it was but they did not want to know. I also paid for one delux room and one standard room but they put us in two standard rooms. When I complained they only refunded 10,000 rupees which is basically £10. I would never advise anyone to go there.

We book through Booking.com and payed around 5.000 Rs per night, which is robbery for this kind of hotel. Very noisy AC. A WC that didn't flush properly. No hot water. A really basic room with no storage or hooks to hang things on. Poor wifi. The only good thing was that the room price included an excellent breakfast at the neighboring Tibetan restaurant. Sorry guys, you really need to step up your game!
