Tranquil and Serene. Another best place in South Cliff, Varkala. Interior is finely done that it complements the ambiance of the Villa itself. We stayed in 'Soma'. Early morning bath with your body getting exposed to sunlight is the best. Complementary breakfast with tea/coffee in Patio is the best way to start your day. Almost zero traffic, still very much commutable, even without your personal vehicles. Beach along the cliff side should be around 400m. Food tasted good, served good. Thanks to Shama aunty for hosting us & of course Yaako (The pet). We will see u again :)

Shama's lovely guesthouse was a haven for us when the whole world was going mad with Covid-19 case growing by the day, including one in Varkala. The garden is delightful and lovely oasis of calm. The breakfasts are legendary and can be varied every day. The place is a bit of a hike from the Varkala 'cliff area' (about 25 mins walk), but there are several lovely places within 5 mins that you can eat, in much much less busy surroundings and with nicer views. The local beach is only 5 mins' walk and is largely deserted and hassle-free. The staff are friendly and helpful, and I can't recommend Villa Akasa strongly enough if you want to be in Varkala, but not amongst the crowds and in an environment that is less touristy.

I am a fan of homestays and when I first saw pictures of Villa Akasa, I was like this seems like my place and I was right. Shama has made a beautiful place, the whole place is filled with lots and lots of plants. Rooms that are filled with sunlight and washroom that let the nature in. A complete nature paradise. Pramod makes the yummiest food, fan of his parathas and coffee. He is a very patient caretaker who took good care of us. Yako and Sophie are two beautiful dogs of Shama who keeps the fun alive in the property, very very friendly dogs. A cafe is right in front of home that offers access to the beach, at no cost. So, just few miles away from the beach. if you are looking for a homelike stay at Varkala, that is the place for you!

Let me take a moment to just appreciate the amazing, most kind staff and owner, Shama! They made us feel at home within their beautiful property. Two lovely dogs, shining clean rooms, aesthetic decorations, lush greenery and delicious food. What more could a traveller ask for!

A Homely stay feeling. Not much parking spaces and can get congested if you come with friends in 2. Other than that it is good.. Nice ambience and nice people.. A bit expensive, but you can get good deals in websites. Do check out. There is a cafe opposite to the Villa. And you can access the beach from there.

We LOVED this place so much the hospitality and warmth shown from Shema, Peyma, Narvin and Gita - Great food was outstanding. They were brilliant.
This wonderful home is tucked in a small village 10 minute walk from Varkala Beach 🏖
They have just 3 ensuite rooms two cottages and one within the house. (See photos). The rooms are very well sourced. It’s has a lot of touches like flowers 💐 and they think of everything such as beach towels, umbrellas ☂ for the sun ☀️. It’s a home from home. Just one of a few wonderful and solid places in Kerala. I would highly highly recommend Villa Akasa to all. We would definitely be back to this wondef place 💋😘👍🏾🙏🏾

The Villa is located in an Indian village 5-10 mins away from the beach.
This place is outstanding. The property itself and the garden are very beautiful, the rooms, the bathrooms, the outside areas are all amazing.
The owner is a lovely woman, the staff are excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Breakfast is included, but you can also order lunch and dinner. The food was very good. I was taking ayurvedic treatment and had to be on a special diet and the food that they made for me was excellent, the best that I have ever tried in South India. It really is a 5 star accommodation.
The beach was very quiet, hardly any people there and very beautiful, the water was clean.
I will definitely go back.

I was traveling to Kochi for the Biennale and decided to extend my trip to Varkala for a short vacation. After some reading, I decided to stay on the quieter Southern Cliff and I’m glad I did!

Villa Akasa is located in the small village nearby- about a 7 minute walk to the beach, which is absolutely stunning! The time we went, we only had crabs for company; most of the crowds preferring to stay on the beach at the North Cliff.

We rented two of the three cottages at Akasa, both spacious with high ceilings, tiled floors, and furnished tastefully with beautiful light cotton drapes and linen to keep the rooms cool. Each has their own cute sit-out where meals are served. The property is well kept and the rooms and bathrooms are spotlessly clean. Attention to the small things- fresh cut flowers in the room and bathroom, beach towels and umbrellas for our trips to the beach, a torch neatly placed in the closet, arrangements for a rented scooter...

The cottages are owned and run by Shama, a delightfully pleasant lady, who also lives on the property and was happy to accommodate our every other request. She has a staff of 2-3 people and the service is outstanding! The room tarrif includes breakfast- eggs with delicious home baked bread (YUM!), fresh juice and filter coffee. You can order meals in advance for an extra charge- and both times we did, it was very, very good! Beetroot yogurt curry with rice and dal, a shredded mixed vegetable with shavings of coconut, fried fish, paranathas!

I’d recommend Villa Akasa to anyone going to Varkala and hope I can make it back there again soon!

We went to villa akasa recommended by villa jacaranda but stayed only one night, so desappointed we were. For the expensive price, there were only one person as staff and his english was very poor. We asked to see the owner, he told us she was not here. It is more a hotel than a guesthouse because it was absolutely not friendly. And moreover, each time you want to move you have to pay for an autorickshaw because it is far from the main beaches and restaurants.

The ambiance, hospitality and the room decor far exceeded our expectations. All of the staff were incredibly welcoming and very attentive. The most amazing part was that room was absolutely plastic free with beautiful decor giving it a very personal touch.

The open roof bath was the highlight of entire room, it was too cool!

Villa Akasa has total 3 rooms and all are well designed. Each Villa comes with outdoor dining, a beautiful bedroom and huge bathroom with open roof shower. It was amazing to see such a beautiful set up.

Property owner Siddharth was very helpful and suggested great places nearby. I would suggest to have a bike or car with you to go around but if you don't have one, staff can arrange Tuk Tuk quickly. We didn't eat anything at the Villa and hence not sure about the food option.

We would definitely recommend anyone who visits Varkala to spend few days here and make your trip memorable! :)

Cheers,
Sneha and Parth
