I am a fan of homestays and when I first saw pictures of Villa Akasa, I was like this seems like my place and I was right. Shama has made a beautiful place, the whole place is filled with lots and lots of plants. Rooms that are filled with sunlight and washroom that let the nature in. A complete nature paradise. Pramod makes the yummiest food, fan of his parathas and coffee. He is a very patient caretaker who took good care of us. Yako and Sophie are two beautiful dogs of Shama who keeps the fun alive in the property, very very friendly dogs. A cafe is right in front of home that offers access to the beach, at no cost. So, just few miles away from the beach. if you are looking for a homelike stay at Varkala, that is the place for you!
Let me take a moment to just appreciate the amazing, most kind staff and owner, Shama! They made us feel at home within their beautiful property. Two lovely dogs, shining clean rooms, aesthetic decorations, lush greenery and delicious food. What more could a traveller ask for!
Shama's lovely guesthouse was a haven for us when the whole world was going mad with Covid-19 case growing by the day, including one in Varkala. The garden is delightful and lovely oasis of calm. The breakfasts are legendary and can be varied every day. The place is a bit of a hike from the Varkala 'cliff area' (about 25 mins walk), but there are several lovely places within 5 mins that you can eat, in much much less busy surroundings and with nicer views. The local beach is only 5 mins' walk and is largely deserted and hassle-free. The staff are friendly and helpful, and I can't recommend Villa Akasa strongly enough if you want to be in Varkala, but not amongst the crowds and in an environment that is less touristy.
Tranquil and Serene. Another best place in South Cliff, Varkala. Interior is finely done that it complements the ambiance of the Villa itself. We stayed in 'Soma'. Early morning bath with your body getting exposed to sunlight is the best. Complementary breakfast with tea/coffee in Patio is the best way to start your day. Almost zero traffic, still very much commutable, even without your personal vehicles. Beach along the cliff side should be around 400m. Food tasted good, served good. Thanks to Shama aunty for hosting us & of course Yaako (The pet). We will see u again :)
We stayed at the Villa Akasa for two nights and three days, and each moment spent there was beautiful. It's the most perfect, quiet, quaint and lovely place to just sit back and enjoy some down time. Shama (the owner), Pramod and rest of the staff are extremely welcoming and helpful, we couldn't have gotten by without Pramod's always encouraging and open smile. We recommend having the add on lunch and breakfast that's served on request because it is the most simple, no frills attached, delightful home food ever. Thank you Shama for letting us into your home and letting us revel in your little piece of heaven, we will definitely be coming back for those beautiful patio mornings and of course to give Yako some much deserved pets and belly rubs!
