#21 of 80 in Varkala Town
KSHETRA RESORT got its oldest ayurveda. Our tradition is since 1884. Ayurveda company is ISO and GMP CERTIFIED - the only hotel to have this accreditation here at Varkala. Varkala, a quiet suburban coastal town situated in the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram is the most opted tourist spot in South Kerala. Varkala is quite a unique destination which is characterised by an array of cliffs adjacent to Arabian sea, which is recognized as geographical monument by Geological survey of India. The coastal township is also famous for many religious customs deeply rooted with Kerala’s culture. The serene and beautiful beaches equipped with a widespread sand carpet and fresh water spouts will set the mood warm for a rejuvenating holiday experience. A fabulous swim, a walk by the shore with the gentle waves caressing your feet or the splendid sight of the setting sun on the sea horizon from atop a cliff over hanging the sea; Varkala gives you everything in a platter. To add cream to the topping are the water sports facilities like board surfing and kayaking.

The best Resort I have been Privileged enough to stay at. Super building and gorgeous ambience, it's only gets more breathtaking when you walk in. Good quality rooms and excellent quality service by the staffs. Also the staff was so friendly to us and helpful . The rooms are best and clean. Inside the resort they created a natural garden which was so beautiful . Break fast they provided was so good. The best thing I want to tell again and again was the friendly staff and there hospitality. And all of this was in a budget rate.

I had a wonderful staying at Kshetra Boutique Resort. The property is absolutely elegant, clean and stylish. Great location and great value for money. Quiet close to restaurants, local super market, pharmacy in a walking distance and train station is little far away of 4km but still it is easily accessible. Vimal, the host was a friendly boy who responded quickly from immediate first contact to check everything was OK during my entire stay and accommodated to my needs and requests very warmly. Very cozy beds, warm lights, lovely hot shower whixh was much needed were provided. I would recommend it very highly to anyone who wanting to have a good stay while exploring beautiful varkala.

I booked a 3 night stay here for my boyfriend and myself, with the possibility of up to 6 nights (as we were unsure of our plans). I booked through Instagram as it was supposedly a ‘cheaper rate’. The room was clean but you could tell the hotel was run down. They claim they are some kind of ‘retreat’ but all they have is a rooftop to do yoga, and they bring in a yoga instructor. The breakfast is also basic bread roll and jam, and curry. We said we were coming here to surf and they organised a surf instructor the first morning to come, without asking - I had to explain my boyfriend knows how to surf and doesn’t need an instructor! Don’t stay here if you are a girl travelling on your own. My boyfriend went out surfing early one morning and the manager (who I had previously spoken to to book the room) started messaged me straight after seeing him leave. This made me in incredibly uncomfortable! We decided to leave straight away and the manager obviously knew he was in the wrong and made it out like it wasn’t him messaging me and that it was a ‘lady’ on Instagram. Stay at Inda/Boho’s next door!

Visited here for 1N/2D, not a good experience here. AC was not working, 3 pin port was not working so we are able to charge our mobile. Room was not that much clean. Not worth the money that they are charging. Location was also not great.

I have stayed in Kshetra Retreat twice. Once for Ayurveda treatment by myself, they have great packages for Ayurveda treatment including Room, 3 ayurveda-based meals, herbal tea, Yoga, 2 hours therapy, medicine for good price. And their attached ayurveda clinic has a Green leaf certificate(the best!) I found a doctor and therapists here are experienced and sincere. I spent beautiful time with other ayur-treatment guests . And 2nd time, although I didn't plan to stay here(cuz this time was more budget travel), me and my friend were so attracted by this location, view, authentic Kerala style and we decided to stay again.(and it was a good decision!) Amazing, the receptionist even remembered my name! He is very helpful and trustful. Atmosphere here makes me feel so relaxed. I think it's the best sea view resort in Varkala(you'll enjoy the sunset in deck-chair), since it has got much space, you get good breeze.(it was no problem even in April) I like here cause they have some different places to sit and read book, like sea front, by the swimming pool, hammock, in front of the room, restaurant, yoga hall (<- yoga is also good here, shivananda style) And one of the closest one to the black beach, a bit far to the main beach. It is nice you are a little far from the main area, less crowded and more relaxed. They also maintain Kerala style garden(loved flowers and statues) very well. All stuff is friendly and lovely. Room is simple and clean, some rooms have great sea view. The restaurant is not that popular for non-ayur treatment people but there're many around there so you don't mind. I miss Varkala and when I go back there, I'll check this resort for sure.

Kshetra Boutique Retreat is an experience which will challenge us physically and emotionally, to be reminded of the essence of life! We have the privilege of staying here in the traditional Kerala style architecture. Kshetra is surrounded by nature, beach near by , on a beautiful lively cliff over 100 meters high, creating a high vibrational sacred space for us to go deep. Ayurvedic Treatments will trigger happiness, ecstasy and profound emotions within you. This is a space for you to recharge, to bring more silence, more peace to your mind, body and soul. We experienced powerful facilitators for Yoga and Ayurvedic Therapies. Let’s deepen the connection to the rhythm of the soulful retreat and true nature. If you want to enjoy the nature, traditional Kerala style, paintings and good food Kshetra Boutique Retreat is the place with the art of healing.

I have spent a week here in Varkala at this wonderful place. Room are spacious and clean. Air con working very well. Clean bathroom and toilet. Wonderful patio where you can enjoy a good and rich breakfast with fresh fruits, homemade fruits juice, egg, bread, pancakes and if you like Indian breakfast ( idli, upma, puttu, dosa, puri..) Best breakfast we found traveling. The staff is great, always ready to make guests happy. We got very good suggestions of restaurants, massage, yoga classes, train tickets and taxi. Jins the manager is a wonderful person , always smiling and helpful. His assistant Vichu is a lovely and very nice boy. We booked for to days and we felt so well here that we ended up staying one week. The best place to stay here in Varkala. We will surely come back soon. Francesca and Enzo

Location was perfect... Service was incredible... Such a quiet and calm place... We visited during a heavy rain period but still thoroughly enjoyed watching monsoons... On a clear day you might wake up to the sunrise... This was a great find , and as a long lime visitor to India I will be back , if you want relaxing in a clean and really comfortable location with great breakfast then Kshetra is for you . We loved the extra touches the Manager Manjulal laid on for us, Beach Towels,Clothes Horse and renting a scooter for us . It’s new so it’s super clean and in the quietest place in Varkala with lovely staffs. Magnificent keep up the good work !
