Mine would probably be the only review that gives such poor rating to this place. We went to Blooming Bay during what they classified as ‘off season’ which is mid March. We were the only visitors. The only staff present on the property were the kitchen staff. And they just didn’t care. One of the charms of the place is no Tv or intercom. But in a situation where there is no staff we struggled for even a cup of tea. Any place is made of its people, location and the food. They didn’t have any local food. Everything was just plain ordinary & served without a smile & almost grudgingly. The menu is the standard Chinese and North Indian fare. They just didn’t care whether we liked it or not. The only thing working for the property was its location. Pristine views and clean upkeep of the lawns and place. None of the staff even had a smile on their face except for the person who came for night duty & the ladies who came to sweep the lawns. The nearby restaurants are quite far so we were pretty much captive. The other reviews are raving...may be the place transforms during season time but we honestly had a trying time and cut short our visit by a day. So do check your visit time if you want to go to Blooming Bay though wouldn’t really recommend it. …
This was a perfect December holiday at Blooming Bay with our large extended family. The place is perfect - away from the hustle and bustle, lovely views and extremely gracious and accommodating hosts and staff. The food was also superb and the chef is very flexible. We will come back.
They say “Travel does the heart good” and there are very few places that does my heart good better than Blooming Bay, Varkala. An ideal and idyllic resort to spend some quality time with family. The rooms were neat and the staff were extremely courteous and warm. The views from the room and the resort itself is simply spectacular. There are quite a few hammocks where you could just lie down and laze around for most part of the day. And to top it, you could almost have the beach to yourself. Don’t forget to soak in the breathtaking sunset. Good food options but you could also try some of the local restaurants. My second visit this year and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Sharing a few scenic clicks.
Amazing resort with beautiful, clean rooms! The property has a hammock and dining area, and breakfast was delicious. The resort is close to a beautiful unspoiled beach that is just a five minute walk away. We visited in September and were the only people on this beach - it was like having your own private beach. The resort is a secret gem for people looking for a quiet unpeopled beach. The more popular but touristy Varkala Beach is a 20 minute walk/5-10 minute car ride away, with lots of restaurant and bar options on the cliff top. Highly recommended!
I planned a Mini-Family Reunion from the United States with the Blooming Bay Staff and had a gut feeling Blooming Bay would be the resort of choice in Southern Kerala. Blooming Bay's online pictures reveal only a small amount of great experiences that await you and your Family. And speaking of Family, I found Blooming Bay went above and beyond to satisfy the needs of children and the elderly, from dietary needs to keeping kids active during their stay; the table tennis center was an added plus! We also decided to celebrate our Son's Sweet 16th Birthday while at Blooming Bay, and there was no disappointment. Blooming Bay Owner Mr. Abraham even organized a private fireworks show for our group and the timing of that event alone was impeccable. The staff there was always working on something and made sure the guests were happy and comfortable. If you need chai, mid-day snacks, assorted fruit, etc......just ask and the staff will be happy to get it for you. Varkala is a small, quaint Kerala town on the coast of the Arabian Sea. If you want complete tranquility during your stay, look no further than your hotel balcony. You can see miles and miles of sea side fair like commercial fishermen casting for their catch to lovers walking on the beach to people meditating towards the sea. If you get a chance, go to the Heli-Pad side of Varkala Town; there you'll find so many cool things to do. Blooming Bay was a hidden gem and got even better when we left and pondered back in time. Thank you Mr. Abraham & Staff for your kind hospitality. Definitely a 'must return resort' for sure!!…
We stayed at this place for 3 days. The property is beautiful and well maintained. Rooms are quite big with sea view balconies. There were no basic amenities provided and it didnt have a TV. TV is available in the common area which is a very nice sit out, ideal for morning/evening tea. Food was good too. Overall, it was nice and relaxing. Will definitely recommend this place.
Everything about Blooming Bay is magnificent. The property is picture perfect. The staff is courteous and food absolutely sumptuous. Not only this, Mr Abraham takes personal care to ensure that guests are happy. We got a vehicle for sightseeing, absolutely divine aryuvedic treatment and polite service when ever required. Travelling with my daughter alone never even once worried me, the place is so safe. The vacation by the sea was a gift to my child and it was worth in every way. Every moment spent there was marvellous and magical... Keep up the good work Blooming Bay... {Special thanks to Manju there who looked after us }
Blooming bay is definitely one of the best resorts in Varkala. Rooms are really clean and spacious with best view. They are great host,Vipin(if am not wrong) really took great care . Though it's in the end of South cliff, you can easily reach the Centre in 5 to 10mins . The best part of stay are the small huts at the edge of the cliff looking towards sea (you can spend the night by doing nothing than enjoying the view of the sea) and the beach down the resort, it's just two mins walk away, very clean n less crowded. It was an awesome stay, had great time. Looking forward to visit again.
This hotel is located in a beautiful place on the cliffs in Varkala, just under 5 minutes walk from the beach. The fresh sea breeze, lovely views and amazing sunset scenarios need to be experienced. Food is excellent - prepared freshly by the excellent chefs in the kitchen. Fresh fruit drinks are wonderful. We had 2 massages by Ravi, the Ayurvedic specialist ... exhilarating, relaxing and really superb Big thanks to Ernesto, Joanne, Manju and their fine team. We loved it and you will too ... if you go
Blooming Bay offers a beautiful and serene location. A perfect getaway place to relive one of any work and life stress. Once you are in Blooming Bay, you need not go anywhere. You have amazing view from sunrise to sunset from the cliff. Good food prepared by Nepali cooking staff. Place has yoga classes in the morning as well as evening for someone who is interested in the same. They also organise Kirtan (Hindu Prayers). Perfect hosts. They helped us with everything we needed to stay and enjoy in Varkala. Place is a little away from Varkala cliff which is the most happening part. You can get an auto for Rs 150 anytime of the day for a visit to cliff. Only downfall is that one cant pay bills through card. I had to withdraw huge sum on the day of checkout to clear my bills. Overall a greta stay. Highly recommended.…
