We turned up at the accommodation having booked online. We had not paid a deposit. I was unfortunately sick with a fever and wasn't feeling well at all. After viewing the room which was absolutely not in the state that the pictures/reviews describe and noting that it had no aircon (which I really needed) we decided to cancel the booking. We then tried to leave and were accosted by the owner/manager who refused to let us leave. An argument ensued with the owner wanting 9000 inr for the cancelled booking. Our driver who spoke Malayali tried to explain to the owner that we were happy to pay the booking.com cancellation fee of 4500 inr. The owner refused this and called her son over. At this point I noticed that two other guys had parked a motorbike behind us blocking our exit. The owners son and owner threatened me and our driver making for a very uncomfortable and rapidly escalating situation. Our driver did an amazing job of talking the situation down to the point where the owner reluctantly agreed to accept 6000 inr for the cancelled booking. The thugs behind us then moved the motorcycle and allowed us to leave. The whole experience was totally unacceptable. The owner, son and others involved were thugs and bullies. Please don't consider ever staying this this place.

We already pre booked room and has it confirmed but the hotelier denied and didnt give us room at the time of check-in saying room not available and price got changed from the time of our booking. Unprofessional behaviour and didn't even had courtesy to cancel the booking beforehand.

I really enjoyed my stay at Kaithakuzhi! I initially planned on staying for 3 day and stayed for 12 days. Varkala is such a beautiful place. I enjoyed my time here, the room are a good size, it is very clean, WiFi, and hot water. I love the hammocks outside! The location is very close to the cliff, where there are many restaurants. The host is very friendly and inviting and will help whenever she can.

We stayed at Kaithakuzhi for what was supposed to be a couple of nights which then turned into 9 nights as we loved the place soo much and our lovely hosts couldnt done enough for us. From the moment we arrived to the morning we left. My partner was very ill with a fever during our stay and the lovely couple attended to her and made her feel soo much better that we couldnt thank them enough. The young lady has such a warm motherly feel about her. The room itself was very clean and spacious and the bed was comfortable in comparison to alot of others we have occupied in India!! Lovely hammock just outside the room. Keep up the good work guys!! Many thanks. Ben & Jade

I was provided with a chair and table to work with as soon as I requested. Very prompt and helpful management. The place is also very quiet and comfortable, with easy access to the cliff and the restaurants and bars there. I would definitely recommend!

An excellent place to stay - very clean, good sized rooms with comfortable beds, hot water and wifi. The location is ideal being safe and only a very short walk to the cliff with all its restaurants and shops. Priya and her family are delightful and very friendly. They will organise taxis or rickshaws if needed. Reasonably priced this is the place to stay and we can't wait to return.

Recommended! We stayed here 3 nights. The place is very clean, rooms are simple but comfy and offer all you need including a nice little balcony with a hammock and AC in some rooms. Located 4 houses behind the main beach strall it is quiet but central. The place is owned by a super-friendly woman. She offers Indian breakfast for 50 IRP if you ask. If we visited Varkala again we would for sure come back here!

Thy are not beach front but gives you good sea view from hammock in balcony. Rooms are very clean, big, hot water and wifi 25/7 with safe stay for any solo traveler. Loved the balcony and hammock. 600 per night during holiday weekend. Can get a room for even lesser price. The owner family is friendly and flexible with your needs. Closer to all best eats.
