Try not to book the sea view room. It's not like they are not good but the rooms are mostly on the ground floor and there is a restaurant in between the sea and the room. Also everyone passing by and everyone on the property can watch inside your room as it is on ground floor, so forget about privacy if the curtains aren't drawn. Apart from it the room was great and comfortable and the guys at reception courteous. They even allowed for us to keep our luggage at reception as we had our flight at night and nowhere to go.

P.S. You can pay a "little" extra and extend your stay till 4 or 5 in the evening if the rooms are available.

We came to varkala for a 3 days holidays and we ended up staying almost 3 weeks, such a lovely place!!!
This hotel is a gem and it’s restaurant serves the most delicious food in town.
We love their Briyani rice and their fish is always fresh and fantastically well cooked.
The waiters are very polite and servicial and the manager of the place is a very professional and nice gentleman .
Definitely we will come back next year!

I visited this place for dinner during my stay in Varkala. We had paneer curry with chapatis, parotta and fried rice. The food was pretty average but they had setup a good ambiance. Also, you can enjoy listening the waves of sound while having your meal.

Booked a non ac room first it was so terrible have to upgrade to ac immediately. But that was also bad. room doesn’t have basic functionality. Like no exhaust in wasroom, sink has cracks, toilet has stain’s, wifi not working, tv not working, and most importantly power points didn’t work. you have to put a weight on the charger to charge devices. Let’s not start with the food. it was so bad that they are thinking like customer taste sense will not work if they are looking at the beach. Food is costly and bad. ordered fish had worst experience of whole trip.

The resort is a small property which has rooms which can't be called sea facing as the restaurant comes in between sea view from some of the rooms. We had booked three sea facing rooms however it was upgraded to 3 newly built rooms on 2nd floor which had limited sea view from one of the rooms. Also, the so called BLACK BEACH does not exist now as sea has covered the area.To enjoy beach you need to walk and climb up the cliff for about 500 mts to verkala The manager Mr Vineet is helpful and tries to facilitate services but it needs improvement in terms of providing hot water( which we could not get even after trying hrd through solar gyser) no tea / coffee arrangements in room and the restaurant service is just unsatisfactory. Very slow response for orders. The breakfast starts at 0845 hrs in the morning. The basic facilities in the resort needs improvement .

We stayed in room no 204. The resort is badly in need of renovation and upkeep. The rooms and furniture are old with broken cane chairs in the balcony. When we checked in the rooms had just been mopped. There was a lot of moisture in the room. Agreed, it's a coastal area that has a lot of humidity but there is no effort made to help reduce this moisture in the rooms. There was bad seepage in the room. While the bathroom floor was clean, the walls had mold which can be harmful. The property is old and congested with too many rooms and cottages built in the a small area. The service was not up to the mark which is also reflected in the upkeep of the property. The rates are high but is not justified by the service and quality.

We recently visited this resort with a family of 4 adults and 1 child and stayed here for 1 night. This place can hardly be called a resort. Please avoid at all costs. There are better properties in varkala.

The restaurant is unhygienic with crows flying all around picking up food. Right next to the hand wash is the dust bin. The staff at the restaurant don't understand what is asked for. I requested Dal kichdi for my 3 year baby and was instead given dal fry. We were given a so called family suite, but they are nothing more than wooden boxes. The entry to the suite is through a set of steps next to the kitchen and stench is awful. On checking in cold drink bottles from previous guests were still not cleaned. The door and handles are rusting. The pillow covers are torn. On the second day, we found that there was no hot water in both rooms in the suite. On complaining, we were given an immersion coil to heat water.

Near the Beach:
The rooms are near the cliff.

Room Service:
They are unhelpful. Upon arrival, they request full payment before showing you the rooms, anticipating potential disappointment. Once payment is made, their responsibility ends.

Room Condition:
I saw different photos of hotels and got different rooms. I feel that I got fooled.

Parking:
No dedicated parking is available. I parked on the road.

General Manager:
He is very rude. On the call, he told us he would serve food, but upon arrival, he denied it.

Room Size:
Don't book standard AC rooms; they are very small, and you won't have any view.

Overall Review:
You will get plenty of options with this price. If you book this, keep your expectations low.

Horrible stay. Smelling bedsheets and dark room with uncooperative staff. Buffet breakfast not provided despite being charged for that. Kettle that was provided was smelling really badly. The blanket provided was also not washed.

I benefited from the annex of the black beach Lalavika. mold, unbearable smell, no hot water, at 1 a.m. I had to call to have the sheets and earpieces changed which were stained. The electrical outlet at bed level did not work. They repaired it during the night. I had to ask for a change of towels, etc....many hotels have big names, they have the air but not the song.

Not all the rooms through window has sea view. But from balcony it would be visible up to some level. So opt for a room at the back side of building facing towards sea.
