We spent three nights at this hotel (also branded as Namasthe) which is at the quieter south end of Varkala Cliff and absolutely loved our stay. The only downside was the pool wasn’t fully operational until the day we had to check out, despite the staff working really hard to have it fixed earlier. It wasn’t a problem though, as the beach was utterly phenomenal, and we spent many hours in that beautiful warm sea. The rooms at the hotel were clean and really generously sized. Aircon and hot water were great and the wifi was ok as well. My favourite place to hang out was on the swinging daybed. It was the perfect place to read and relax. It’s just a short walk to all the attractions of the Cliff and we had some memorable sunset cocktails and excellent meals — potato and cheese momos were a standout. The staff at the hotel were super honest and helpful. We would not hesitate to recommend a stay here.

We booked this place for the New Year experience via Booking.com and the ratings of 8.5 misled us to book this place. Pros: 1. Looks great on the exterior 2. Is located near to the beach, other restaurants on the cliff and Varkala Aquarium 3. Clean and decent size swimming pool however no one to manage it so many we jumping into the pool coming from the beach wearing non swim-wear 4. The reception staff is approachable and helpful. Cons: 1. We booked one villa which had a French window that we couldn't open as there was no mosquito net so it felt claustrophobic. The bathroom door had no handle. There was beer bottles below the sink. The other room we booked was a double bed room which was so tiny. Again couldn't open the windows as there was construction material outside. 2. Do not fall for the free breakfast trap as they don't have any spread. You can choose to have bread toast (stale bread) and plain omelet and fruit platter plus fresh fruit juice (diluted as ever) after a long wait of over an hour. It's better to skip and enjoy good breakfast at restaurants near the cliff. On 1st Jan they conveniently denied breakfast stating late night party and then suddenly said Restaurant is open. The staff is so lethargic and clueless to what we ask forward. 3. The WiFi is so bad that it's better to use local data plans 4. There's no private beach to this resort. You need to walk down the road for few mins to reach the edge and then walk down the rocks to reach the beach It's better to review lot of other good hotels on the cliff which have good restaurants too. 4. Do not make a mistake of ordering any meals here. Pathetic taste after waiting for over 1.5 hours. Plus half the items on a big fat menu book doesn't exist here. 5. They do not clean the rooms or replace with water everyday. Only if you ask you get water. We stayed for 3 days and the bins were overflowing in our room. 6. There's no coverlet on the bed only a think blanket which was stinking.

We holiday in Kerala nearly every year for at least 6 weeks and this was our 4th visit to Varkala, Going for a month this time we wanted to try somewhere new. We don't look for high end, luxurious accommodation, just somewhere comfortable, friendly and with a pool... and that's what we got. After a few initial issues we ended up in a very nice room thanks to the concern and help from Anandhu and his staff. Suffice to say that we had a long relaxing holiday despite damaging my foot badly at the beginning, eased considerably by the support from the staff and our auto rickshaw driver. The food at the hotel was good; however, unfortunately on the first night the manager introduced us to the nearby JaiRam Cafe on the cliff and we almost never left! We understand people may have there reservations about such hotels and probably higher standards (or are just fussy) but for us this was almost perfect and we intend to return next year.

Like others on here I am loathe to give a poor review but given the amazing holiday we had overall wanted to give an honest picture of our stay over Xmas. Firstly some pro's 1. The hotel is in a really good location and is a lovely building (outside) 2. Its near to the black beach and the aquarium but is only two minutes from the north cliff 3. Air con worked a treat Cons 1. We had the breakfast on the first day and didn't go back - really poor. The 'eating area' was under construction and not set up at all for catering in any way. Basically it was table and chairs under a cover outside the hotel. Floors were being put down and walls painted during our stay. 2. The pool whilst a fair size was murky and looked odd - the kids used it a couple of times but I didn't trust it 3. We had a deluxe room but it was really spartan - towels were really stained, shower didn't work, no hot water - no pictures on the wall etc 4. Ambience - none. We seemed to be the only guests there in December. On our last night another family arrived at short notice they had been travelling and were looking for accommodation. 5. Assistance - almost none. No offer to bring (already paid for) breakfast to room when the dining area was clearly non existent, asked for help to buy train tickets "just go and buy them".Barely said hello and goodbye. Most of the staff were on their phones. We tried to find other places to stay after a couple of nights but couldn't find one as it was December 25th by this point. Would we go again ? No. Not sure who is writing these amazing reviews. To sum up could be amazing due to its location and the building but desperately needs to up its game

Sticking with my policy of never to give a bad review, I'll put some pros and cons. Pros; Beautiful view Beautiful house- the house and grounds are very grand from the outside Ayurvedic spa with good reviews on the grounds Location is Great- at the far end of the North cliff. 2 mins to lots of cafes/restaurants, places for a beer- and also close to the quieter beaches with less crowds Big pool Cons; Room was basic (we had the delux one) and needed a more thorough clean (floors and sheets were fine, but walls were dirty) No restaurant on site, it was closed No hot water in rooms Internet wasn't great (although it seems to be a feature of varkala) Staff weren't very welcome Pool was murky- not sure why- may have just been the water. Only 2 sun beds Nobody turns the bed or re-stocks the room (at least not in the 3 days we were there) I understand the need to close the restaurant, as it's quiet, but there was no apology, no explanation, and no offer to have drinks at all on the premises. All in all, a 2 star hotel which could easily be more. Ok if you want no frills. We left half way through our stay to somewhere nearby with a pool, where we could sunbath and with hot water. Again, perfectly fine if you are happy with no frills.

I've been in Thiruvambadi Resort on August 2018 and I will abosolutely come back there as soon I can! The position is perfect because is situeted in the north cliff and you can both relax and have parties sice is very close to the main street and the sea (that you can see from my room) but out of noise. The resort is wonderful: rooms are very clean, confortable with everything you can need. There is a big swimmingpool and a really good restaurant in a great position opposite the sea. For every necessity you can ask to a cool, young staff that will take care of you in the best way. The owner, Anoop, is a fantastic and helpful person, he welcomed us like old friends and he has provided to every necessity that we had. Desite the distance from home I felt at home at Thirumvambadi, I was really sad when I left Varkala. Finally Thirumvabadi is the best choise you can make in Varkala! Thank you Anoop for your help and for the good days that I spent there.

The Thiruvambadi is a lovely hotel. It’s in a convenient spot at the very end of the cliff ‘strip’ so, if you turn left out of the hotel, you’ve can walk along the clifftop past lots of shops and an endless choice of restaurants. However, turn right and you’re soon wandering along quiet, picturesque beaches. The aquarium’s good too. Our rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable with sea view balconies, modern bathrooms, comfortable beds and efficient fridges. The hotel grounds and garden were attractive and immaculately kept. The friendly staff were always available. Unfortunately, when we arrived, at the beginning of November, the swimming pool was being serviced and was only refilled and useable on the day we left. It was a very slow start to the season (Because of the floods in July) and the restaurant was only open for breakfast. There were problems with the WiFi and engineers were there trying to fix it without much luck. Fortunately, the manager provided us with a dongle which enabled us to get internet access in our rooms. Probably the most difficult thing was that there was no hot water while we were there. Staff would gladly bring us up buckets of really hot water when requested but that’s not quite the same. We were old hands at Indian hotels and understood that the hot water could be unreliable or only on at certain times but none at all was a bit too much! However, we did get the impression that these issues were all temporary and, as a rule everything would be fine. If that’s the case I would say this hotel is excellent value for money and an ideal holiday spot in Varkala. We would definitely stay there again. Check things before you book, though!

I stayed in the resort for 5 days with 2 other friends. Our room was tidy and clean, so we could realy enjoy our trip. Fortunately, we just needed 1 minute to reach the beach, so we had the opportunity to take surf lessons every morning that were arranged by the resort. Even the stuff was very friendly and helpful, so we could ask them for help whenever we needed an advise. All in all I would defenitely recommend this hotel! :)
