It's a very beautiful piece of paradise. It's a guest house (I couldn't call it something so cold as a resort) that delivers excellent service with a low key spirit of wanting to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. The rooms are clean, comfortable and the higher-end suites are exceptionally lovely and all for prices that make this the very best value I have almost ever experienced in all my travels. It’s been three years (mostly due to the Covid pandemic) since my last visit to this lovely cliff top hotel and I was delighted to return in November for a four week stay. They’ve extended the hotel upwards with another floor providing more rooms and giving guests a sea view as well as a beautiful panorama over the grounds. Another newly added attraction is the outdoor shower for guests to wash away sand from the beach below. The restaurant has been reroofed and I understand there are plans to offer a lunch and dinner menu in addition to the existing breakfast fare. A new chef has been appointed along with a new kitchen team. So lots of new changes. What hasn’t changed is the great friendly and professional service provided by the owner Shine, his excellent manager Mandéen and the happy smiling staff whose sole purpose appears to be to ensure you have an enjoyable stay. If you want a relaxing and peaceful break this is the place to be. As different from the busy and overcrowded North Cliff as night is to day.
Highly recommended.

Prior to my arrival, my husband had stayed in a standard room and said it was fine but very basic and did not have much light. We decided to upgrade to an upper level room at the edge of the property, overlooking the ocean, and it was an excellent choice. The room was clean with nice furnishings, a balcony and large window to take in the vast ocean view. The bed was comfortable and had a surrounding net. The bathroom was very basic and did not have hot water from the shower head but only the faucet below. The grounds of this hotel were just beautiful with very tall palm trees and hammocks and there was even a lovely resident dog that occupied the lobby area. Breakfast was wonderful here. The service, food and view were all very good. The best part about this hotel is that it has a private entrance to the beach. Varkala Beach is quite busy, so it was a treat to have this quiet, more private section of the beach, accessible from the property. Important to note is that there are many steps on this path and it is a little steep. It weaves through what feels like a small jungle, along the cliff. The only real issue we had at the hotel was that there was a giant roach / water bug in the bathroom, larger than any we had ever seen. Even my husband was uncomfortable with the standoff. We were surprised when after being released outside it flew away. I suppose this can sometimes come with the territory but made for a little unsettledness during our stay. Still, we would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it for cleanliness, views and service. There is certainly pride of ownership at the SeaShore.

Lovely and quiet surroundings, amazing view, great resteraunt food, clean and comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Really glad we stayed here and on the south cliff rather than north cliff- is only a 10 min walk or 100 rupie tuktuk to the bustling north cliff- and a lovely relaxing place away but close to the hustle and bustle. Shine and his team were very helpful in organising us taxis and a tour to Munroe island. Great stay thank you- a great choice when visiting Varkala

Lovely cliff top location with view out to sea and convenient beach access. Comfortable bed and effective AC. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean and well laid out.

Just a little tip, if you’re not using it unplug the mini-fridge in the room as it’s noisy and gets very hot on the back making the AC work very hard!

Overall happy with our stay, a nice location within walking distance of happening north cliff, but with the peace and tranquility of the south area of the beach.

Light airy , the large rooms with a view of the sea very relaxing to be in in the heat of the day.
Excellent manager and cleaning staff, beds firm but not uncomfortable, beautiful cotton linen.
Breakfast is standard rather than excellent, but there’s always Soul and surf for breakfast.
Access to beach good via well maintained steps.
Good value and excellent position away from the dreaded North cliff

This resort is on a cliff with a sweeping lawn to the sea with the most spectacular view. Perfect for those romantic sunsets. We had a lovely "sitting out" area (private) with views out to the Arabian Sea across the lovely gardens. The staff are lovely and friendly. Strongly recommended

We stayed here in September and Varkala & the Seashore Resort were one of the highlights of our trip. Having come from Delhi, the Seashore Resort was the perfect retreat - it was spotlessly clean, the only sounds you could hear were the waves of the Arabian Sea and the view from our room was beautiful - the sunset from our balcony was amazing. Breakfast was brought to our room every morning (the freshly squeezed pineapple juice was a highlight) and Shine and the staff couldn't do enough for you (including giving me a lift to the train station on the back of his scooter). Perfect location as its away from the main cliff but close enough to walk or a short tuk tuk ride to all the bars/restaurants. You can access a beach from a path leading down the cliff and this was probably the nicest beach I saw in Varkala, however, be careful as the waves are lethal. I would definitely recommend Varkala and definitely recommend the Seahore Resort, we really enjoyed our stay

My partner and I had booked a sea-view room at this place on booking.com for 2 nights. We received an email from the owner Mr. Shine saying that as we are "Indians" we have to make the whole payment before arrival (while booking.com policy said pay at checkout). We asserted ourselves and said that we will only pay at check-out, and were glad that we did this.

On arrival we were allotted a room without a sea-view, this place's online presence is misleading.Having to access a common area outside your room from which you can see the sea, isn't anyone's idea of a room with sea-view. When we questioned the owner he was rude and said that if we want to stay we can or we can leave his property. Did not expect this from a place with good reviews on tripadvisor, and therefore we walked out and found another place, Hill View Resort. We paid much more for it, and it was worth it to be away from this Racist and Rude property.

I would recommend this place mostly because of the wonderful location with the private stair down to a secluded part of the beach, and I would stay here again for this reason! Also relaxing hammocks in the big garden and outside each room, perfect for reading. There is a supplied beach umbrella outside the room that we appreciated a lot.
I liked the bed, my spouse found it too hard. The bathroom was built pretty stupid. It is a long corridor with the sink first, then the shower and last the toilet. The shower does not have anything that seals off the water so the bathroom becomes very wet. Does not matter much, but can be a bit slippery.
we stayed in an AC-room, but almost never used the AC since the fan was very efficient.
You can hear your neighbour guest, which might be annoying depending on how much noise they make. Or how private you want to be.

I have visited The Seashore twice this season . The rooms are comfortable and sparklingly clean. The gardens are a Paradise on the edge of the South Cliff. Very reasonably priced Standard rooms and a little more expensive, pretty cottages all enjoy the same wonderful experience/ good breakfast / perfect service provided by Shine and his staff. It is also a welcome and calm oasis away from the busy North Cliff.
