communications with Sylvia via internet were fast and flawless right from the start. Giles and Elsie took excellent care to me from 3 AM greeting to midnight departure! Elsie's home cooking for breakfast was superb! Needs were more than met with old fashioned South Indian hospitality,, close enough to anything I needed to do in City Center, yet surrounded by private acreage with Palms and wildlife...I stayed there before and after my workshop! Helpful suggestions for everything from tailoring to shopping to arranging auto-rickshaw transport and suggestions of sights to see. Truly a traveler's breath of ease!! thanks all, especially my fav Driver, Ulhaas! already planning to stay next year!
Kindest hosts, so helpful, and quick answers for every question you may have. The room and house is very clean and it's a beautiful place. For about 10 minutes rickshaw route from Trivandrum centre. Every morning we had homemade cooked indian breakfast !
We are regular visitors to Graceful, as are numerous other visitors from around the world. I think this probably tells you more than I can about how welcoming and comfortable it is. I should add that it also makes a very helpful and reassuring first stop for visitors making their first trip to India. For ourselves, we always stay a few days In Trivandrum at the beginning and end of our visits to Kerala, not least because it's just so nice stayjng at Graceful. We shall, of course, be returning.
A short drive and we were deposited at Graceful Guesthouse set in the gardens of Phillips Hill on the outskirts of the city. We arrived late but were warmly welcomed and left to get on with sorting ourselves out, The noises of the night filtered into our room with its bucket shower bathroom. A simple set up and a crisp cool sheet meant we were asleep quickly. We were woken in morning by a chaotic mix of jungle noises, not unpleasant. Our room had a big balcony which provided a glimpse through the palm trees to a few other houses. Breakfast was had with a couple of other guests; a couple from Spain trekking through Nepal and India, and and American lady here for 3 months. We ate iddiyappams (rice flour noodle hoppers) with egg curry and fresh papaya from their garden.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Graceful. The top floor room with balcony is beautiful and peaceful. I was very grateful for Giles and Sylvia’s warm welcome and their extensive help arranging tuktuks and Ayurveda treatments. Perfect for solo women travellers! Thank you both.
My husband and I enjoyed staying here. Our hosts were so friendly and helpful. We were very sad to leave. I would stay here anytime without hesitation. Our room was clean and comfortable and our breakfast each morning was delicious. I cant wait to return.
Italian below My partner and I just spent a month at Graceful as we moved to Trivandrum for work. We couldn't have asked for anything more! The rooms are clean, comfortable and you can enjoy a beautiful view of the garden, birds and little animals from the balcony - a truly blissful spot to work from. Elsie's breakfast is so good that we would wake up every morning excited to discover what Indian delicacy was awaiting. Giles, Sylvia and Elsie are so kind and welcoming - from telling us stories and answering our endless questions about India and Kerala, giving us tips and suggestions about what to do in and around Trivandrum, calling taxis and tuk-tuk drivers, and helping us navigate the Indian bureaucracy. The use of the communal fridge and a little hob also made a massive difference in making us feel comfortable and independent, given our long stay. The trip downtown is only a short tuk-tuk ride, and you can find fresh simple south Indian food, fruit and veg and a supermarket just at the end of the road. I am sure we will be back!! Torneremo presto!…
Lovely place to stay with a spacious hill top garden. The leafy suburb its set in is interesting and pleasant to walk around. Giles and Elsie were excellent hosts. Giles was very helpful in arranging a reasonably priced and helpful auto rickshaw driver to take us around. Because we were interested in Laurie Baker a British architect who designed several iconic buildings in Trivandrum, Giles helped us put together a tour of his key buildings including a visit to his house! A great way to spend our last day in India. Elsie prepared us a delicious home cooked meal one evening and also provided us with a variety of good breakfasts. A unique and characterful place to stay
I stayed in this beautiful house surrounded by nature, right in the City of TRivandrum, you would never expect! The hosts were very very kind and helpful, and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast every morning, homemede by them.
Our third stay and it was , as ever, a delight.. The hosts are wonderfully friendy and helpful. Fellow guests are always interesting, and including people in long-term work placements in addition to holidaymakers like ourselves.
