We read some review from LP and TA. and originally booked Highland Hotel but found out that there is no hot water, non a/c room and no wifi for 999rp plus tax!= 1120rp( we decided to look for another one) then we saw Hotel Regency and thought of give it a try. Lucky we did. cause ended up, there is HOT water, wifi in the lobby and non a/c room big and clean for 900 plus tax(1013rp). Even though when we arrived there was no room available, we were able to leave our luggages there and went to the zoo and by the time we came back the zoo, our bags were delivered to the room and we had hot water to fresh up after a day travel and ready for dinner.
There are many restaurants and tuktuk around and even a money change booth near by to change our money back to USD before heading to airport! (better rate than the airport). and auto to the airport arranged by the hotel for the early flight.
overall, it was a good choice for our last stop in Kerala.

The Hotel is situated near MG road and quite near the train and the buscentral. Regency is a friendly inexpensive hotel. The room a got had both a fan and a very good ac. The tv has many channels with english subtitles which was kind of nice. The wi-fi works good and the room is clean and feels very comfortable. Many restaurants nearby so no need to get a more expensive accomondation. Highly recommended.

Its too good and value for money with in the budget range. The reception, room service are pretty good. Rooms are neat , clean well maintained. and imp thing is its location, its just 1 km from Railway station, shopping areas and 30 mins to airport. Overall good exp.

I arrived after a long flight from Delhi, and was disappointed to find that they had effectively lost the reservation that I had made some days earlier. After some friendly banter, I managed to get the desired ac/twin room for me and my friend. Suprise Suprise, it was a higher rate than quoted previously. Therefore (as a backpacker on a small budget), we decided to only stay here for two nights. The rooms were clean, and the beds comfortable. There was a fridge, tv with cable, and a fully-functioning air-con unit. The hotel staff were unpleasant, and I honestly don't how they can get anything done with such a messy reception desk. The women, however, were much nicer than the male receptionists. The other problem was that, given Kerala's power-cut situation, it is wise not to be in the room at the end of the corridor, which is right next to the generator. I was kept up quite a bit during the nights by the exceptionally loud generator. Even despite the general bugger up with the room at the beginning and the generator, it is a decent backpacker hotel. NOT FOR THE MONEY, THOUGH. I paid 1350 rupees for a double room with a/c, and it is was certainly not worth it. Perhaps 900/950. I won't be coming back again.

My husband and I stayed here for one night in 2009. On this occasion the a/c room was fairly acceptable and as the details were on my email contacts list, I fired a quick email to them for a one night stay before flying to Bangalore the next day.

Once checked in and entering the building it is obvious that this hotel is obsolete and very tired. The whole place had an aura of second rate desperation.

The room to which we were allocated was long outdated. The air conditioning system, which we paid extra for, was all but useless. An antiquated unit set into the outside wall at waist height, had gaps all around the edge which showed daylight through. At night the unit was as noisy as a jet engine so we turned it off and made do with the fan. The shelf onto which the television was sitting had been dusted only across the front, the sides and back had dust so thick I shouldn't think it had ever been touched with a duster.

Beds were not too bad, the linen which a previous reviewer mentioned to be dirty, was OK. But it was the wall to which one of the beds were pushed up against that drew our attention, the dirty marks on the paintwork looked very dubious!

The shower room left a lot to be desired. Again, very old sanitary ware. The tap needed a plumber to fix the badly dripping tap. A bucket had been put under it but we quickly took it this away because once there was a couple of inches of water in it, the dripping sounded like Chinese torture! THE BEST THING WAS THE THICK FLUFFY WHITER THAN WHITE TOWELS!

Restaurant, no complaints here. We had lunch and dinner, service and food together with prices were great. While we were dining we could see that people came in from outside to eat. It is worth mentioning that this is Kerala, and as such no alcohol licence, so only water and soft drinks with the meal. This did not detract from our overall enjoyment of the mealtime.
We were on the first floor facing the front. It was a Sunday night and immediately outside our window groups of locals were running motorbikes, reving them loudly till past midnight.

We did a recce at neighbouring hotels and saw two or three nearby, Will try them next time we pass through.

the Hotel Regency are a bunch of cheats. I made a reservation one week in advance and they confirmed the booking. One week later, on the day of my travel, they call me and say they made a mistake and there are no rooms available. They could have told me this one week earlier itself, but they waited till the last day when it would be difficult to get other hotels, and cancelled a confirmed booking.
They are a bunch of cheats.

The Regency Hotel is very well located; being in the heart of the city, and yet in a quiet lane off the main road and 20-25 minutes from the airport.

The rooms are very well maintained, comfortable and clean with all the basic facilities you'd expect from a 3 star hotel. The hotel staff is extremely courteous and helpful.

The Daavat restaurant has some amazing Kerala dishes with a good selection of other cuisines in case you're not too comfortable with Kerala food. The chef personally comes around to check whether the customers are happy with the food.

For holiday travellers, the staff will be able to help you with places to visit, things to do and the arrangements for the same (transport, ayurvedic massages etc).

The Regency Hotel is a great choice for business travellers as well as persons on holiday looking for a 3 star hotel.
