There are many restaurants and tuktuk around and even a money change booth near by to change our money back to USD before heading to airport! (better rate than the airport). and auto to the airport arranged by the hotel for the early flight.
overall, it was a good choice for our last stop in Kerala.
Once checked in and entering the building it is obvious that this hotel is obsolete and very tired. The whole place had an aura of second rate desperation.
The room to which we were allocated was long outdated. The air conditioning system, which we paid extra for, was all but useless. An antiquated unit set into the outside wall at waist height, had gaps all around the edge which showed daylight through. At night the unit was as noisy as a jet engine so we turned it off and made do with the fan. The shelf onto which the television was sitting had been dusted only across the front, the sides and back had dust so thick I shouldn't think it had ever been touched with a duster.
Beds were not too bad, the linen which a previous reviewer mentioned to be dirty, was OK. But it was the wall to which one of the beds were pushed up against that drew our attention, the dirty marks on the paintwork looked very dubious!
The shower room left a lot to be desired. Again, very old sanitary ware. The tap needed a plumber to fix the badly dripping tap. A bucket had been put under it but we quickly took it this away because once there was a couple of inches of water in it, the dripping sounded like Chinese torture! THE BEST THING WAS THE THICK FLUFFY WHITER THAN WHITE TOWELS!
Restaurant, no complaints here. We had lunch and dinner, service and food together with prices were great. While we were dining we could see that people came in from outside to eat. It is worth mentioning that this is Kerala, and as such no alcohol licence, so only water and soft drinks with the meal. This did not detract from our overall enjoyment of the mealtime.
We were on the first floor facing the front. It was a Sunday night and immediately outside our window groups of locals were running motorbikes, reving them loudly till past midnight.
We did a recce at neighbouring hotels and saw two or three nearby, Will try them next time we pass through.
Old elevator, badly maintained pipes and furnitures, congested front area etc..
Friendly staff behavior, good restaurant service, front desk are appreciative..
Its very near to trivandrum central and easy access to any mode of transport.
In the city but not that much noisness
Overall good ,but shoul improve..
They are a bunch of cheats.
The rooms are very well maintained, comfortable and clean with all the basic facilities you'd expect from a 3 star hotel. The hotel staff is extremely courteous and helpful.
The Daavat restaurant has some amazing Kerala dishes with a good selection of other cuisines in case you're not too comfortable with Kerala food. The chef personally comes around to check whether the customers are happy with the food.
For holiday travellers, the staff will be able to help you with places to visit, things to do and the arrangements for the same (transport, ayurvedic massages etc).
The Regency Hotel is a great choice for business travellers as well as persons on holiday looking for a 3 star hotel.
