One of the best places we have stayed at. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was first class, oh those jams were so delicious 🙂. Very eco conscious. Location wise, it is quiet and is ideally suited to explore Kumily and the Periyar nature reserve. Highly recommended
How to feel at home so far away. We loved our 2 nights here. Had the most amazing breakfasts with homemade peanut butter and jam. The monkeys entertained us on our balcony. but the star was the owner and manager. We could not have felt more welcomed. So helpful and caring about where we go and that we had everything we needed. If you go to Thekaddy you must stay here!
This place is very well located in Thekkady, close to the main locations for activities like Periyaar jungle safari, kalari - kathakalli center and is surprisingly green. The decor is done with a lot of love and thought. The interior is adorned with beautiful paintings which adds to the beauty!! A lot of effort has been put in making the hotel sustainable and eco friendly - it runs on solar energy, organically sourced honey from beehives inside the property. There is a beautiful rooftop swimming pool surrounded by forest views, among with a dedicated yoga room. You can spot myriad flora and fauna from the rooms. We loved interacting with the host, who has been here for the last 20 years.
This place is a real gem. The staff is not only welcoming and attentive, and they go out of their way to set up anything for you or give advice on what to do. There’s a great hang out area by the pool on top, as well as a hangout area below. Breakfast is wonderfully basic and perfect with everything homemade, even the bread. Rooms are spacious, comfortable, hot water and good Wi-Fi, with a great view and nice size balcony, and hot water is waiting outside your room early in case you want some early tea etc. You might see a buggy creature crawling on walls at night, but this is the jungle, so sit back and enjoy—bugs won’t hurt you! I would highly recommend Chrissie’s!
What a wonderful experience! Very friendly and helpfull staff! From the moment you enter, You are welcomed in the most adorable way! The rooms are simple but very tidy and spacious! The breakfast was a true delight with Indian (Kerala) specialities, Freek fruit and eggs! The owner took even the time to welcome us personally!! Happy that we found this diamond!
We stayed at Chrissies for one night during our visit to the Periyar Forest Reserve. It is a great location amid lush greenery and no disturbance despite being just a short walk to the main market area. The most amazing thing was the art work all over including our rooms which gave it a very aesthetic look. The service was courteous and friendly. The breakfast although modest was really tasty. We loved the homemade Jam and fruit preserve. The only thing we probably missed was a ceiling fan and the electric kettle in the room. Great place to stay in Thekkady for nature lovers at a very good price.
Chrissie's Hotel is right out of a fairy tale. The flora and fauna around, mesmerizes you. It is like living in an enchanted forest. Every nook and corner is a different shade of happiness and art. The rooms were clean with the promised facilities. The balcony is to die for, overlooking the garden. It has an amazing pool with a rooftop experience. Evening time you will witness notorious monkey and mosquitoes, and the staff very carefully warns you beforehand. But beyond 7pm, you can carelessly loiter around. The breakfast though simple is a fulfilling spread. Staff is courteous and attentive. They do not have lunch/ dinner options, but there are plenty of options nearby. The walk from the reception to the rooms might be tricky for old and disabled, but for us it was a pure bliss. When people around the world come together to paint their imagination, you know the place is totally worth it.…
Highly recommended this property + Great location among trees and a short walk from the main city . A relaxing place, spacious and very clean room. The balcony was perfect for enjoying the greenery. I recommend the hotel closed eyes. - Nothing. plan to visit again soon
This lovely hotel is a block from the little town of Kumily. The rooms are clean, comfortable and well designed. Each has a balcony looking out into the garden area. There is a rooftop pool and a shaded sitting area. The restaurant is excellent. The breakfast is exceptional. Adel, the owner, is so nice and welcoming with great advise about local activities. Be careful though. It is so nice you don’t want to leave and the likely purpose of your visit is to go trekking in the nearby park!
This is a gem not to be missed. A quiet retreat set in a beautiful garden filled with wildlife and greenery. The welcome by the owner/manager Adel sets the stage for a respite from travel for the visitor. Greeted with a warm cup of tea or coffee...or cool lemon juice, Adel made us feel at home immediately. The accommodations were clean and welcoming. We spent hours on our porch just enjoying ourselves and watching the monkeys at play. The views from the top floor are not to be missed. The pool and yoga room were inviting. Location is right outside Periyar National Park. Breakfast was delicious. The staff was kind and helpful. The price was extremely reasonable. I would have been willing to spend more. I cannot say enough. I only wish I could have spent more time there.
