I stayed with wife and 2 kids here. One thing I liked very much was the accessibility of all major tourist attractions from the hotel. Staff were kind. Room was spacious enough for us. It was clean too. I stayed in first floor which had a nice balcony. We went in a weekday and hence the total property was so calm. One minor annoyance was the lack of hot water in the night and early morning. We had to go for Jeep safari and could not take a bath due to lack of hot water. During check-out, we were told that hot water would be made available in 30 mins after calling front desk. I had 2 of my 9 year old kids stay with us. But the booking site says that only less than 6 years old kids are allowed. I was not charged extra. I suppose the weekday booking might have made them overlook. But it is better to enquire before booking

This hotel looks lovely and quaint but when we arrived and were shown our rooms they smelt very damp and the bathroom was filthy. Speaking to other members of our group they seemed to have had better rooms, so we were shown two more before we were happy with our final choice. Even then, the bathroom could have been cleaner. There was wifi but only in the reception area which was very nice to sit in. The restaurant was also OK with breakfast ordered from the menu rather than buffet style and the service was good. What was strange is that the cloakroom facilities in the restaurant were great and a complete contrast to the ensuite bathrooms. This is something they should address. I would have rated this poor but the staff and restaurant tipped it into average. PS. Keep your windows closed, one of our group was asleep and monkeys came in, woke her up and messed up her room. Luckily she was save by the cleaners. Think we should have been warned about this on arrival!

To be fair, if I had been writing this review after 1 night it would have gotten a good. Unfortunately the 2nd night they decide to dig up bit of the parking lot. I tried to read until they were finished, but it seems there were problems with the septic tank and at around midnight a trick turned up. This was started and moved around the car park a number of times with people shouting instructions. Eventually they started to empty the tank finishing around 1:30am. By this point I had complained and luckily they didn't spend too much time putting the drive back together again, finally 2am sleep, to be woken again around 5:30 am with what sounded like plumber's working in the rooms above. I understand all property need maintenance, but doing this in the middle of the nights when guests are staying is not acceptable. Otherwise the room was OK, no WiFi, no kettle, hot shower was supposed to be on request, but we had arranged for it to be hot after our hike through the jungle, but mine was still cold. As I say I think we had an unfortunate experience, I'm sure others would have a far better stay.

Don't be misled by the pictures. These may be old pictures. The room was small and smelled of dampness. The floor were not cleaned for a long time and was sticky. There was one small wooden almira for storage. The bathroom walls and roof was full of seepage. It smelled really bad due to no cleaning or maintenance. The walls were old and slimy. The bucket was soiled and we were shocked to see muddy turbid water from the taps. There was a bath tub that was old and dirty. No running hot water. If you needed, you have to call some number from your mobile. Obviously no intercom. Just one charging point. There was a TV. Didn't check if it worked, because we could hardly stay in the room. It was soffocating. Lucky none of us fell sick as expected. We didn't dare to taste the food. Won't recommend this place to any one even if it's for free.

I was stayed in ambai hotel in feb 23, with my friend, it was a wonderfull stay, nice infrastructure and fully greenary ambiance, staff and managers very co operative, food was delicious. The place value for money we paid. We are planing to vist the property again.

A very good experience every time with hotel ambadi. Great artitech made this hotel, Restaurant awesome its eco friendly feelings. Food no doubt always good !
Thekkady is a town near Periyar National Park, more than 5 tourist attraction places we have to cover.

Excellent property. I bet you would have never seen like this before. Combination of woods, trees and nature..great food. very quit atmosphere. It was very relaxing...Staff was also very much polite and helpful.
Price is also not that high compare to its five star service...!!!

The rooms given to us were duplex wood house looking!Good concept,but in ordinary condition. Did not like the reception response. Mosquito bite bothered us a lot.
In reception customer handling made us feel like if not we ,they will get another customer and it is our luck that we get room there.

We have 43 rooms across three different categories offering varying levels of comfort, all tastefully furnished in traditional style with 24 hour check out. You can also enjoy the various cuisines on offer in our restaurant Aditi, our delectable food is bound to be any gourmet's delight.
Our friendly staff will make sure that you have a pleasant stay with us and will even help you organise various trips, like boating, elephant ride, spice plantation visit, bamboo rafting, trekking, Kathakali demonstration etc.
You can also have sight seeing trips to Gavi, Chellarkovil, Ramakkalmedu, Mangaladevi Temple and also plan to visit near by tourist locations like Munnar, Peermade, Kumarakom, Alleppey, Kochi and Madurai.
Although you will enjoy the enchanting features of our property and Thekkady all through out the year, but the ideal time to visit us would September to March, when you can enjoy greenery without the accompanying rains. If you are a bird watcher, this also the time to spot migrant birds. Summer (March to May) though hot, is also good for wildlife spotting. When water gets low and the grass dries out, animals, especially elephants come down to the Periyar lake to bath and frolic in the waters along with young ones. June to August is best suited for monsoon tourism, to enjoy torrential rains of these tropical forests.
Above all you can enjoy shopping Kerala rich spices like Cardamom, Pepper, Clove, Cinnamon, Nutmeg and Mace, Tea and Coffee.
