Stayed here for the second time . Last visit was in 2019. Duration of stay was 2 days. This is the best place to stay in Thekkady. We were able to see bisons sambar deer and lots of birds. The staff were extremly courteous and pampered us throughout. Food by Chef Shri Rejath was mind blowing. Staff Shri Anish and Shri Rajesh deserves a special mention for making our holiday unforgettable. A note to the resort manager. The resort urgently needs renovation. The children s park is completely non functional and dirty. The wooden railings of the rooms were broken. Animal urine was found right outside our room which was leaking from the wooden ceiling and we were told it was civet. Also I found that the trenches around the resort and the metal fence have worn out at places around the resort. As this is the best resort of KTDC and the best resort in Thekkady kindly take necessary actions to restore it at the earliest. We shall be returning to Lake palace soon

KTDC Lake Palace is an awesome property engulfed by a terrain of mountain, greenery and a vast expanse of water body. Though the landscape is a peninsula, the property can be reached only by a boat. No buildings, no roads, no noise from vehicles - but only greenery, water and the cool gentle breeze are prevalent everywhere. It's a secluded property with only 4 or 5 rooms where we can adore God's creation without any hindrance. If we are lucky, we can spot animals and birds, We spotted wild boar, gaur, black monkey, parrot and a few other birds. Remember to carry a binocular as the fauna could be seen clearly through binocular only. The animals usually graze at the other bank of the lake. Seats in the upper deck are left vacant for the guests staying at KTDC Lake Palace for the boat ride. Utmost hospitality is given during the boat ride and the ride is complimentary. Homely unlimited food is served. Fish, chicken, vegetables, desserts, bed tea/coffee, snacks etc, are the delicacies. Tender coconut souffle still lingers in our mouth. Mr. KANAGARAJ and Mr. DEVAN are always at our disposal providing a great hospitality. Mr, ROVIN allotted us an awesome room with a great ambience. It is a suit room with a large sitting area, a hall with a cot and a divan cot, a large bedroom with two individual cots, a dressing room and a spic and span wash room. Remember, this is a resort at nature's lap. So don't expect recreational amenities, swimming pool and the so called unhealthy buffet menu. But we can go to KTDC Aranya Nivas on the other bank and make use of the amenities like swimming pool. But prior information must be given as only boat service is available. We can relax comfortably for hours together gazing at the water bodies, stars, the flora and fauna by lying in the wooden benches or rocking in the hammock. We stayed there for TWO DAYS (04-03-2022 & 05-03-2022) and we really had a very relaxed and memorable weekend forgetting all the hustle and bustle of the everyday life.

This was in my bucket list for years and just happened in Dec 2021. Last time I visited Thekkady was decades ago (I was in primary school :) ) and I still remember this property which comes in between the boat ride, actually that's the only one memory I have about Thekkady. As a kid it was a magical place :) Lake palace is a gorgeous six bedroomed hotel built in the middle of the Periyar Tiger reserve wildlife sanctuary. The hotel has no wifi & networks except BSNL and that is another blessing, complete cut off. You just breath fresh air ,listen to the jungle music , sit and enjoy the nature . We just stayed for a night and I completely regret now , I should have planned it for min 2 nights :( Everything was wonderful here! rooms ,food , staff , surroundings . I will highly recommend this place if you love are a nature lover, a must visit.

Beautiful Property nested within the Periyar Tiger Reserve cut off from the outside world quite literally because of lack of mobile /internet connectivity. Is a great place to relax and unwind in midst of nature...surrounded by forest, wild animals and beautiful scenery.

the hunting lodge of the Maharaja of Travancore converted to 6 room hotel. situated on the bank of lake Periyar in Periyar National Park . Just for the location itself the hotel is worth every penny you spend. from the hotel you can spend hours & hours looking across the bay for different animals grazing like elephants gaur sambar deer ... and if you are lucky a big cat tiger or leopard would be out in sun on cold morning or taking a dip on a hot summer day. we were lucky to see sambar deer gaur sloth bear and different varieties of birds like wooly necked stork, egrets cormorants bee eaters eagles osprey ..... the rooms are very comfortable and spacious . clean & well maintained . In fact the verandas are great place to be and enjoy cool breeze . Do take take the two side rooms which have larger verandas . but what amazed us was the service specially Anish and Pradeep. we did't go with high expectation , being in the govt sector. The food also was outstanding specially kerala cuisine . overall a great experience and great memories.
