A really lovely and warm place to stay. Staff so kind and helpful, the site itself is beautiful and filled with interesting plants (there is a short guided walking tour of the gardens that's definitely worth doing). Food was delicious! They also have lots of activities on offer and we did the gavi walking tour which was beautiful. Sad we couldn't stay longer.

We stayed here for 2 nights. The resort was peaceful and has beautiful grounds. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. We booked the Gavi tour prior to our arrival which took care of the transportation, guide and entrance fees. This involved a jeep ride into the forest, breakfast, lunch, guided walk and short boat ride. Facilities were clean and it was well organised. We saw monkeys and birds but no elephants or tigers. We booked through booking.com which included breakfast but not lunch or dinner. Would recommend as a break from heat and humidity whilst on holiday in Kerala.

I had the chance to stay at Shalimar 4 days early January. I was looking for a quality place to retreat from all the daily hustle back home and around India. Great hospitality, nice cottages, amazing food, best services, greate garden area - very relaxing place. We stayed 7 nts and enjoyed it very much! We enjoyed the massages as well as the traditional dance entertainment in the evenings for new year eve. If you are looking for a place on Tekkady area, then book Amritara Shalimar Spice Garden.

Beautiful resort, great stay. Very friendly staff. Would be nice to have spoons next to cups in the bedroom. But otherwise we had a great time! Geese and chickens are wonderful for children to see, restaurant buffet is very tasty and has a lot of variety.

This resort is beautiful grounds, full of spice plants. The staff is superb. We had every needs taken care of. The cottages are well appointed and comfortable. The day trips offered to the surrounding areas are well worth the trip. I would highly recommend the resort to anyone who wants an authentic experience in Kerala.

Highly recommend this place! Beautiful resort tucked away in the middle of spice capital of the world. Staff is super friendly and very helpful, they are always there to help you and will go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable, on site traditional Kerala massages are available too. This is the place to cost, If you are looking for real Kerala traditional experience.

It was a wonderful stay.. it’s a bliss of nature and lovely staff. All the staff were very courteous. I liked the atmosphere of the place, you feel like you are drowned in nature, takes you to humble beginnings. Loved the slice plantation walk and enjoyed the Ayurveda massage. They play beautiful music in the restaurant and I got the chance to dress in malayali saree. Loved this place so much!!

This is a real hidden gem. It feels as though you are in your own private home in the jungle and the evening meals are wonderful and authentic Keralan cuisine. We would recommend an Ayurvedic treatment while you are here to completely relax. The accommodation is wonderfully clean and comfortable. It is also easy to join excursions into the beautiful Periyar reserve.
