Spent 2 nights in amazing surroundings. Greeted by lovely host who took us on a tour of his cardamom/spice plantation. He couldn't have been more attentive. His cook arranged food to suit our palate, beautiful masala dosa for breakfast! Rooms were cool, with amazing views! Definitely would recommend

What a delightful welcome we received. After an arduous drive, this was the perfect antidote. The room was spacious and quiet. Set in the grounds of a working spice plantation you can have a tour which is fascinating. Our repast was cooked and served by the loveliest chap.

Third stay on an organised tour with a local driver. This was a package - so can't comment upon value etc. The owners were welcoming and informed - and are rightly proud of their property. They have expanded and built upon at different times to include a separate residential and eating block. The rooms are very traditional with teak fixtures, balcony overlooking the garden and a separate seating area. The food was cooked fresh, (no menu provided but we enjoyed the surprise element). Everything we ate was enjoyable, tasty and a credit to the chef, thank you. Was quite concerned when was told that there was going to be English food for our second evening meal - however, it was what I described as fusion cuisine. This was the first property where we could actually walk into a small town - we took advantage of this and bought some shoes, mosquito spray etc from a local shop. I really wish, I had visited the tailor here. This was also the first place where there appeared to be a lot of birds and butterflies present. however, these hid when the rain started and didn't stop. This also meant, we couldn't use the balcony which was a shame. there isn't much to do if the weather is poor - but I suppose, we were just unlucky, in that respect. Noises from cows next door, but they were quite nice and peaceful really. This was the quietest place we stayed, and again, would not say isolated but peaceful. We had a whistle stop tour of the gardens, which we really enjoyed and would have loved to explore further. Overall, we would return here - although as part of a package, not sure what this stay represents in terms of costings.

Nice, clean and cosy place. Had a very warm welcome by the owner. The small spice garden and surrounding trees make it a great place for relaxation. Family-friendly and highly recommended as a homestay..... Will come back for a longer stay.

Pepper County is a farm stay accommodation catering for smaller groups and couples. A beautiful relaxing and peaceful place. Our host and and owner of this property has been a most gracious host, giving us very personal service and a guided tour of his amazing produce and spice garden. The accomodation is very comfortable and within walking distance to all amenities. If you want to take in the Periyar National Park this is a good place to stay. Also the Omlette for Breakfast was the best I have eaten.

A very friendly welcome by the family, the rooms served our needs for the night but they were basic. We had a sitting area of our own which was lovely and the owner came to chat with us which was very nice. A lovely home cooked Indian meal with a very friendly chef, basic but very tasty food. 15 acres of beautiful gardens which sadly we didn’t have time to explore. A lovely owner who made us feel right at home. Not far out of town so you could walk around and explore easily.

Very comfortable and very welcoming, with excellent food. We were in the heart of the spice plantation with a very green, high level view. The owner took the trouble to show us round, identifying the various plant for us. Both breakfast and dinner were cooked fresh and very tasty. Would come back here in a heartbeat.

Situated on a spice farm, the Pepper County is in a tranquil setting but within walking distance to the town of Kumili. The host Cyriac, could not have been more welcoming. The room was spacious and clean with a balcony overlooking the spice plantation. Food, which was excellent, was served in a separate building and was some of the best we've ever eaten.

And it was the most rejuvenating and peaceful vacations we've had. The place is a 7 acre lush green property that works as a cardamon plantation, interspersed with Jackfruit, Rambutan, Mangosteen, Nutmeg, Cloves and various other fruits and spices. We felt extremely lucky to spend time in this paradise. Mr Cyriac and Mrs Dolly run the place and are extremely hospitable hosts. They really went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The food served here was very good and the hosts made every effort to cater to our tastes. A big thank you also to their cook, Raju. Breakfast was always substantial and the highlight were the platters of fresh fruit from the plantation. Everything else pales in comparison when it comes to food that is Farm to Table. The property is also pet-friendly and there was ample space for our 12-year old Labrador to roam around both within and outside the property. The room we stayed in was relatively spacious and kept clean. The place has many exotic birds and it is extremely pleasant to listen to the birdsong at various times of the day. Making this place perfect for those who seek solace in nature. To sum up, Mr Cyriac runs the perfect homestay and I'm very sure we'll be back again soon. We're also going to be directing a lot of friends and family this way. We're always going to remember this as a very special holiday.
