Great quiet location on the edge of Kumily with easy access to the Periyar Tiger Reserve, where we spent an enjoyable early morning walk with one of the rangers. The bedroom block is set overlooking the owner's plantation, where it is easy to relax watching the birds. The room was very spacious and comfortable with its own balcony, as was the bathroom. Mr Cyriac was a very accommodating host, who proudly gave us a personal tour of his plantation. So much grown on his plantation and we learnt so much. The home cooked food is a banquet of lovely local cuisine. The martial arts show nearby is worth a visit.

This is a spotless property and the host is very attentive. He will do anything to make sure your stay is comfortable. The property is situated in a large garden which the host will proudly give you a tour of. The rooms are comfortable and showers very good. Dinner was plentiful and served in a canteen style room above the garage. That could do with some more atmosphere but for a home stay it was excellent food. The new rooms in the detached building looked very good but we stayed in the main house

A warm friendly greeting from Cyriac on our arrival was the start to our perfect Homestay. He showed us to our room and later brought us Mangosteen picked fresh from the garden. Nothing is too much trouble, it really is a home from home stay. Our room was lovely, the bed was comfortable and the veranda was a perfect place to unwind and watch the bird life and admire the amazing plants, crops and views. The food was delicious and plentyful and the setting is ideally situated close to sightseeing opportunities. We would definitely recommend Pepper County.

This place definitely exceeded all expectations. The stay was so homely and warm with the latest amenities. The verandah and the vegetation behind the rooms gives you the most nostlagic experience of the sweet Indian winter. The complimentary breakfast included freshly made pineapple juice and was made to order with perfection. The owner considered and delivered every request with utmost consideration. Anybody visiting Thekady, I completely and whole heartedly recommend this stay.

This Family Homestead was a part of our ten day Kerala package with Flights and Packages.
Situated just outside Thekkady on the way through from the tea plantations around Munnar to the houseboats of Alleppey this is a very welcome respite from the sounds and hustle and bustle of the Indian street life.
The homestead, set back from the road, is on a 20 acre site owned and managed by Cyriac, and his wife Dolli.
The homestead comprises a total of six units, all of a nice size, well equipped and spotlessly clean. Cyriac loves to show you around his home and gardens which are full of absolutely wonderful exotic fruits and herbs and even the odd coffee plant here or there.
Nothing is too difficult for Cyriac. He will go the extra mile with any of your needs and his knowledge is quite astounding as to what he grows. I must of course also mention Rahul, the cook, who made our fabulous breakfasts and evening meals
It was only us in the homestead for those two nights although after we left he was due a busy few days with arrivals.
Thanks Cyriac for everything and we may come back to Kerela in a couple of years and meet up again.

We stayed at this fabulous homestay on the outskirts of town in a small spice plantation. The owner took us round, showed us all the plants and brought us fruits. He was very kind , friendly and generous and could not do enough for us. The room was big with a balcony looking over the trees where we could sit and watch the birds. The food was delicious and homecooked. We would stay again as we we were made to feel so welcome!

Who needs a five star hotel when you can have a stay at Pepper County? We were warmly welcomed by Cyriac and his wife with an introduction to Pepper County and a plate of pineapple and bananas! The accommodation was both spacious and comfortable. The food made on site by the chef was delicious, especially as he made use of local ingredients and eggs from resident hens. The tour around the spice plantation led by Cyriac was both interesting and informative. We were also able to walk freely through it at any time. He was the best “ mine host” you could wish for, always available and ready to answer any questions. I would highly recommend staying here.😀

We spent 2 nights at Pepper County Homestay. The room was magnificent with a lovely balcony looking over the owners spice farm. Chickens wander about and our driver had somewhere to sleep which was not always the case. Mr Cyriac wqs most welcoming and polite and took great pleasure in showing us around his spice plantation. It was a short walk to the edge of the town with Tuktuks readily available. The food was good and I can thoroughly recommend the stay there.

Cyriac was a lovely host who made us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. He also gave us a personal tour of his own spice plantation sharing his knowledge about the array of plants on his property and effortlessly led us through the plantation.
Thekkady is well known around the world for its fresh spices - it was great to see spices in their natural home and comparing the freshness to the packet spices we would normally see in supermarkets.
You feel like you are staying in a hotel at this home stay with the rooms well maintained, clean, and comfortable with panoramic views of Cyriac's spice plantation.
The home stay cooking is delicious and the staff incredibly warm and generous.
I would stay here again.

Pepper County was a wonderful homestay in a lush, cool and peaceful spice plantation. I spent 11 days resting here - it was the perfect place to quietly regather myself. Cyriac, the owner and host went out of his way to look after me as did Raju, the cook, Joes, the waiter and special Molly who, mostly via sign language, made sure I had all I needed. The large, cool and comfortable room overlooking the bird filled trees didn't need air con and I slept better than I have in years! Highly recommended.

Yes if you take your own. Ask your driver to pick up your drinks well in advance of your stay. Give them to the propretor and they will chill them if needed.
