Detailed Reviews
We stayed one night at The Mountain Courtyard Resort Thekkady during the unlock period. The resort situates in a very quiet place and away from Kumily Town. The room was well maintained, amply sized, and comes with an 'L' shaped balcony that overlooks the cardamom plantations. They served a pretty good lunch and decent breakfast which was good in taste and perfect to start a day. The staff, especially Mr. Saddam was very polite, helpful, and keen on making our stay comfortable, moreover memorable. Highly Recommend for families, honeymooners, and perfect for hideouts.

Mountain Courtyard is very well done, with beautiful architecture merging with nature. The room was beautifully prepped for a personalised welcome particularly our name written on a leaf. The swimming pool is quite big, clean and surrounded by greenery, which makes swimming there a very relaxing experience. The staff is very warm and hospitable.
The only regret is that we stayed there for a night should have stayed more. It's definitely on my next trip to Thekkady.

I’m honestly surprised by the rave reviews. Like most other hotels in this region, this one is overpriced compared with what one should expect in comfort and quality. Details matter. There were no hand towels in the bathroom. I told the front desk later but nobody responded until someone came to clean the room.
It is difficult to access but due to good weather we had no issues. Nice ambiance and super friendly staff, not well trained but truly well meaning and polite. The room is spacious but idiosyncratic in that there is too much light from the glass panel in the ceiling. The sliding doors don’t shut tight so we had an occasional bug filter in at night. I can imagine the room could get cold on a frost night.
The worst part is the mattress, which is so hard that it fits in an army barrack-unless you like hard mattress. We couldn’t sleep well at all.
Breakfast ok but most of the Indian food that is supposed to be served hot was cold.

When we checked in we didn't find any one to assist us to reception no welcome drink was provided and the room cleanliness was poor wth a broken ceiling
Tv and wifi was not working properly even the water bottles kept in the room was pathetic with stain and when we ring to the reception no one was answering.
The food was very poor and tasteless with high price, we had a long wait for drinking water at the restaurant and had to wait long for the food .
The property was running with few staff and all staff seemed to be unhappy...

+1
The positives: the hotel is nestled into the hillside and is surrounded by lush greenery giving it a secluded, tropical feel. The staff are polite and attentive. There is a wide variety of food available on the menu.
The negatives: let’s be clear, this is not a 5 star hotel. The rooms are tired and in desperate need of some TLC. Things like the bed linen and towels need to be replaced. Parts of the bathroom were dusty and in need of a good clean. There is also no AC in the rooms but there is a ceiling fan. This is disappointing as it has the potential to be a fantastic place to stay. The swimming pool has no sun loungers or space around it to sit and relax and when we visited, there were no towels on offer. There were issues with the electricity during our stay which cut out a number of times. The outside of the hotel, stairs, corridors and main dining room have all been painted gun metal grey which seems odd when contrasted with the lush greenery. It’s also not terribly inviting. The corridors as a result are dark and dank again, not very appealing.
Again, the hotel staff were lovely and in no way do the comments above reflect them. Instead, the comments reflect poor management and investment. The hotel is also dry however, there is a government shop in town which sells alcohol. If you have a driver, ask them to make a stop.

I, my wife and my 3 yr old son visited this hotel in the last week of Mar’21. Nestled between the Periyar forest and the plantations, this place was ideal to stay for us as we went to Thekkady to visit Periyar wildlife sanctuary.....this place is just 4-5 kms away from the entry point of Periyar wildlife sanctuary. Staff there showed exemplary courteousness that we became fond of them. Also as you travel with your little ones, you are obviously worried about the food for them. Their kitchen team prepared food for our child just the way we wanted it to be...Thanks a lot team of THE MOUNTAIN COURTYARD!!!!!

The scenic beauty, the crickets and birds chirping, the hospitality, the food, the staff, everything about this place is nothing short of amazing. We initially had planned a 4 days stay but kept on extending it and ended up staying for more than 17 days. Samal (GM) is a great host and a wonderful human being. He made sure that our stay was pleasant. His suggestions of food and places to visit, were amazing. Vineet and his team made mouthwatering dishes and thanks to him, we have to workout harder now. Jyothi is a gem of a person and assisted us throughout the stay and made sure all our needs were addressed to. Nishad and Saddam were very helpful with prompt responses to our housekeeping and reception needs. Aashiq is very hardworking and a happy-go-lucky guy, who provided for our food orders. Hakim is passionate about nature and wild animals and this curiosity of his took us to beautiful places, close to nature. Thanks Samal, Nishad, Vineet, Jyothi, Purushottam and team for the beautiful farewell ceremony and the lovely candlelight dinner date arrangements. Thanks to all the people who made our stay here worthwhile. I highly recommend this place to all my fellow travelers. We are definitely coming back soon.

I stayed in Hotel for 1 night with my parents who are Senior Citizen and one of them have difficulty in walking or climbing stairs. I had called the hotel beforehand to check whether the room that I was selecting which is Forest Flame can be reached out easily and is wheelchair accesible. They said yes. But when I reached the hotel, they gave a upgraded room (Banyan) which was on ground level. However, it didnt have a great view. So i insisted on giving me my originally booked room which is Forest Flame room, but that point I got to know that we need to climb some 15 stairs and then reach to the lift which would take you on upper floors where this room is.
I felt there is an architectural issue for not having the lift on the base level. This is not at all comfortable for senior citizen. Also for the breakfast and the dining room is on the higher level (not ground level), for which one has to climb stairs.I seriously feel the owner has not given a thought about the comfort of senior citizen
My parents still mustered the courahge to climb the stairs as and take the Forest Flame as it made sense for the view perspective and dining/breakfast perspective. However, the manager was resisting to provide me Forest Flame room and instead was giving me Tamarind which is lower grade room. When I told him that on your Website the Forest Flame is a particular room which has big balcony and I need that room as I saw that and booked on this basis, he told me that is some other room and not Forest Flame, to thi I countered then fix your own website as it is misinformation. Finally they gave the Forest Flame room as seen on the website.
For the room, it had a good forest view and windows and balcony arounf 2 walls. The courtyard of the hotel was filled with beautiful birds in early morning, and I saw so many rare birds there. The dinner and breakfast was really great. Their cinnamon rolls are best. The hotel is some 4km away from forest gate but its not too far and good to say. The hotel is really big with a swimming pool and sitting lounge near the pool.
Except for the concern for the senior citizen and the behavior of the front desk , rest was good
