Spent 6 days here, location was idyllic, the owners were extremely helpful, the food was delicious. We would definitely go there again,we couldn't recommend this homestay highly enough, nothing was too much trouble
DANKE!!!!!
Avoid this place if you have any feeling for kharma, bad kharma here although it looks okay. The room we booked was not available, the owner tried to blame us and told that it was because we sent him an email. He didn't want to cancel our booking on booking.com because this gives him bad reputation, while he actually should cancel if he doesn't has the booked room available. Also, he wanted to give us a room for more than double the price as we booked, he didn't want to admit he made a mistake and didn't want to negotiate on the price. Very very bad experience.
We stayed in this place for a night. Since we could not inform them early, we arranged for our food from outside only. However, a walk into the jungle with Ramachandran was an awesome experience, where we could see different birds and animals. We love to go back to this place again...
If you are in Kumily, you want to have a jungle experience, and then Junge View Homestay is definitely the best choice. It is the last house of the village, so out of the centre; but you don't want to be in the centre, because the centre is a bit boring, and you want to experience the forest and the monkeys. Sathish and his team are unbelievably enthusiastic, cooking, driving you around if there are no other ways of transport (in our case there was a public transport strike), arranging all forest tours, etc. It it not the cleanest place on earth, but it is clean enough. The ground floor rooms have hot water but no hot showers; so some mornings I found myself throwing buckets of hot water on myself, but that added to the charm of the place - and if you really want a hot shower, take a room upstairs. All rooms have a balcony, but you share them with other people; but there is space enough for privacy. Even when it was pouring with rain for 34 (!) hours, Sathish stayed immensely positive and helpful and gave us tea, beer and great food constantly - make sure you have a huge Victorian novel with you that you will never read in your own country because of constant e-mail stress, etc. All in all, a superb, great and very charming place! Oh, and Sathish also recommended me Sajhome Stay in Cochin, which turned out the be the best place in Cochin to stay. Have fun at Jungle View!…
