The love that Nayana Aunty and VIjaykumar Uncle shower upon you cannot be put down in words. When you enter their home, you are no longer a guest, they treat you like a member of their family. Incomparable to anything else provided anywhere. The conversations you will have with them, the overall experience is very intimate and I cherish it! Located in lush green, quiet surrounding, among fruit laden trees, Krishna Leela Homestay provides clean, spacious rooms with attached washroom and a dressing area. They also have a separate kitchen, which gives the guests a choice of cooking food for themselves if they wish to. A balcony overlooking their huge garden where you can sip your tea and relax, everything that you need during your vacation. I was in awe with the traditional Keralite kitchen, where aunty cooks her delicious food. I can go on with the list of good things about this place and the humble, caring people who make it so beautiful. I would highly recommend you to stay here. It is an authentic experience ! you will never be disappointed.

Will, firsts thing first. It is a homestay, not a hotel. One needs to be very clear while coming here. Best things about homestay are that they are more of a home than a hotel. Come here for that elusive homely feeling while away from home. Don't come here to have round the clock butler services, et.al. This is a typical traditional Keralite home and one has a very warm, caring and humble couple of Nayana and Vijaykumar to host you. I was on a work and when one day there was bandh in Kerala (in Kerala bandh means total shutdown) and there was no place to go out and see or do than they offered me the meals for the whole day. This place is far from the city centre, but still well-connected through public transport. You can easily get buses and autos to go to any part of the city or nearby tourist places. Being away from city chaos is perhaps the best thing about this place and to add to it is the surroundings of the homestay. You feel like in lap of nature. Bad thing about homestay is that they have limited space and they are not always available. This place has just two rooms. There is a kitchen, where you can cook if you wish to. Otherwise we get complimentary breakfast ( I had five different dishes from Kerala for breakfast in five days... simply wonderful). You can also order for meals but provided couple is there at home. But they have been really very helpful. Rooms are excellent, spacious as one would want rooms in their home to be. Lovely place overall to make a hub for trip to Malabar region.

For my Kalari Payat Training I needed a place to stay for 2 weeks and this turned out to be the best homestay in India. Just before I arrived I became sick with loose motions due to some infection. For one week I spend most of the day in bed, walking became an enormous effort. I could only eat things like soup or porridge. Nayana and Vijaykumar helped me to get through this difficult time with so many things. They took me to doctors and hospital and adjusted the food which would have never been possible in a hotel. Tipp: try the arrowroot drink if you have any problems with digestion! This is also the first homestay where I really felt they care about the visitor and not money in first place. Here the tourist becomes a true guest of the family. I would recommend it to everyone who wants to enjoy a true homestay far off the big tourist places. Thank you!!

Nayana and Vijaykumar have a very nice keralan homestay with very good and healthy food. They helped a lot to find familymembers in Calicut. The base was a 31 years old letter...after 5 stops we found a cousin and his family, incredible! Thank you sooo much for your big help and the good and interesting time that we spent together!

There simply aren't enough superlatives for this place. Beautiful people, beautiful home and truly fabulous food. The room was spotlessly clean and so comfortable. The water hot & the towels fluffy. A REAL home from home. Nothing was too much trouble. A little way out of town, an auto was arranged for me and the suggestions for places to visit were spot on. By the time I left I felt like a member of the family. I learnt to cook and will fondly remember my dear hosts when I cook the recipes Nayana so generously shared. I do hope to see them again.

We really loved staying here. There are two en suite guest rooms plus large sitting room, kitchen and small terrace. Our room was very clean and attractive, with a nice bathroom and little dressing room. The food, all cooked by Nayana, was delicious, and we enjoyed several chats about cooking and how time-consuming it is, although obviously only for the women! They are really lovely hosts, genuinely wanting to be as helpful and friendly as possible. They were happy to share their family history and were very interested in how Western family life is so different from the Indian experience. It was both enjoyable and somehow enlightening staying with them, if felt like we shared some parts of our lives. Definitely one of the best experiences in Kerala - thank you both very much.

Krishna-Leela homestay is one of those rare gems in Kerala where guesthouses and mini-hotels are all called a 'homestay'. This one is a homestay, for real. This was my second visit and as last time, everything was just perfect ! There were organically grown food products, cooked and served on table. It was so touching to notice that the owner, Mrs. Vijayakumar made note of what I ate at her place on my last visit ( a year back !!) and ensure that it is not repeated and that she offers me something new. They also readily agreed to accompany me to beach for a simple walk in evening. Rooms were clean and comfortable as before. Mr. and Mrs. Vijayakumar are now like family. Whenever I am in Calicut, there is no other place I would rather stay. Highly recommend.

A warm homely atmosphere, thanks to the hospitality of Nayana and Vijaykumar; we had a very nice stay in a comfortable room and were served delicious traditional Kerala meals. Most of their ingredients are grown in their backyard. Our senses were opened to a whole new range of food items and combinations. The location of the home is also in a quiet residential place, though accessible from the city.
