Great place to stay with family in calicut. We spent a night and 2 days there and will surely go back Positives Great location, Great team who takes care We initially booked garden facing (read ground floor), later shifted to first flor ( beach facing ) Best hotel with great view and location. Stayed with family and will be my first choice in calicut going forward. Great rooms, space and furnishings, facing the beach and many other attractions. Great service by Anoop, Shamjitlal and team.

We had visited their open bar which is nearer to the beach. Rates are reasonable and they served various dishes. Good getaway for family, couples and friends. I did not stay or used any other facilities other than their open bar which is good.

a small hotel which is converted from an ancient bungalow. for the antique lovers, the room decor should be a treat with old style furniture and bed. however, the hotel staff was ill trained . they made great attempts at providing service but the training was lacking. the restaurant staff in particular was found wanting at all the occasions I dined in the same. the location bang opposite the beach is definitely a plus

This is a great place close to the beach with a confusing selection of bars and restaurants. All 3 are adjacent to one another but you can’t have a beer in one but can next door, where the menu from the other restaurants isn’t available. The did relent and we could have the bigger choice menu and also a beer. Giving them the benefit of the doubt re translation. All said the food was very good.

We stayed at the Beach Hotel for two nights in the middle of our two-week honeymoon in Kerala. It was a mixed experience. Positives: Beautiful building with a lot of history Common areas well maintained and decorated Staff try to be helpful some of the time It has an alcohol licence and the service in the restaurant/ bar was good. One particular waiter especially helpful. The bar is a lovely room. Location - close to the beach which is quieter than the centre of Calicut Our room (105) was huge, beautiful and overlooked the front lawn/ beach and had a really good mosquito net. Beds were super comfy Negatives: The shower was so full of hard water residue that it didn’t work despite strong water pressure. We therefore had to kneel on the floor of the shower and use the water from the tap. Not ideal. Staff not interested in resolving the issue. The air-conditioning broke down in the middle of our stay. Again staff not interested in resolving. The front lawn has tables and chairs and people were sitting out there enjoying drinks. We asked for a table but were told there wasn’t space and we’d be better off in the bar. In retrospect, we think this is because we’re a married couple - it was just ken drinking out there. It felt odd. The bar/ restaurant is on two floors. The top floor is reserved for families (read women) which is where we were put. On the two nights we went there, the downstairs was very rowdy with Indian men getting drunk and singing. Quite funny but not ideal if you’re a family with children. The staff genuinely try to help, but they’re just not that useful. The loos in the common areas are awful - smelly. In the rooms, they’re fine. Overall, the hotel was a decent oasis of calm in a crazy city. But I’m not sure I’ll rush back.

We had to stay longer than planned because of a general strike in Kerala and the staff was very helpful. Great large rooms with beautiful old furniture. Very relaxing to be able to have a cold beer in the bar hut upstairs. Sheets could be newer and we did not have hot water but we loved this place as two women travelling alone.

Hotel location was great, near the beach. Hotel itself was ok - rooms were of a good size and had character but there was no hot water. Staff were helpful. There are only about 6 rooms as I got the impression it is more of a location for external clientele to go and drink/eat. I would not recommend this place for families.

This is a heritage property (former Malabar Club) located right opposite South Beach (Kozhikode Beach). Four-poster bed, heavy wooden tables and chairs, Victorian cabinets, wooden door latches, bathtub etc transport the guests to a different era when time passed slowly. But the cool white lighting instead of warm yellow is a bit jarring. Also 2 single beds joined together doesn't make a comfortable double bed. And if you want to take a shower you have to stand in the bathtub. Notwithstanding these minor irritants, the hotel provides a great ambience of old world charm and luxury. There are two attached restaurants and the food, especially the thali, is delicious. The menu card is almost in tatter. Since there are only 6 rooms, it is a quiet place. But parties on the lawn can ruin the tranquility.

This beautiful hotel has an incredible location: by the beach and very close to the train station. The rooms are gorgeous, with high foot ceilings and period furniture. Bathroom is spacious. The staff is very helpful. The only drawback, for a woman solo traveller as myself, is the beer garden. They have a beer garden at night with a lot of men that frequent it. You will be gawked at and feel uncomfortable. But I highly recommend it for male travelers and families.
