I spent 4 nights at GK homestay and I had an amazing time. The homestay is located in the middle of the backwaters, far from touristic areas. My hosts organised a tuktuk to come pick me up from the train station, which worked out great. The room itself is small, but it contains everything you might need. Georgekuti and his wife were super nice, cooking amazing meals adapted to my dietary requirements, and I really felt like I was part of the family during my stay! Their home is surrounded by the backwaters, so I spent quite some time exploring them by foot, public ferry, and then traditional boat during a cruise organised by my hosts. I also really enjoyed the Ayurvedic massage Georgekuti organised for me. All in all, a place I highly recommend for anyone interested in discovering this beautiful part of Kerala!

This is my 4th stay at GK Riverview Homestay and my husband’s second. My husband doesn’t do well with new experiences but when he stayed the first time while I was undergoing Ayurveda treatment, he knew he just had to return. George’s place is simple but if it was fancier it would lose the charm. The place is in a village where you can experience true backwater life. Definitely not touristy. The pictures posted of the rooms are 100% accurate and has everything one would need. We did our 7 day quarantine there and would joke what hardship we were enduring followed by a laugh. We enjoyed our meals overlooking the rice field, watching chipmunks play and the mongoose who would come up to the porch to check us out. Out at 6:30 in the morning to see the mist above the fields and when allowed out walked along the canals. A majority of time was outside. My husband is diabetic and this is the second time his sugar levels were normal while staying at George’s. He ate like a king and I fed my face with Dai’s cooking. He serves vegetable right out of his garden and grows some of his own spices. Then there is his coffee which he grows. My daughter has a delicate stomach and was able to drink it without any stomach upset. His place offers food for both mind and body. I did yoga under my coconut tree and he arranged for ayurveda massages while my husband had his shoulder worked on by a therapist. For years my husband was limited in raising his arm but with daily massages he is able to use his arm. He had the massages last year and the massages lasted close to a year. Most people stay a night or two before going on with their tour of Kerala. He has had a writer stay for months. No better place to write. I encourage you if you need to find yourself and have unity with body and mind, George’s place is an inexpensive way to do it. He can arrange for you to see an Ayurvedic doctor along with yoga teacher and massages. We are home now and we yearn for our return. The village of Aimanam is my second home. Meet the villagers and be greeted by their hellos land smiles. God Bless George,Dai and Amma.

We arrived at George and Di's home and were immediately welcomed so warmly. He got us set up in the well equipped, quiet and private room set close but separate to the main house. Before we knew it we had perfectly working AC on in the room (he had cooled the room in preparation for our arrival- bliss!) and a delicious lunch served outside our room looking over the rice paddy fields and fresh tea and home grown coffee in the room with a kettle. He also found out we were interested in the birds so lent us his book so we could distinguish their types. The house is set next to the most beautiful part of the Keralan backwaters and you can see a truly authentic way of life, unspoilt by large scale tourism. His garden is full of home grown produce such as bananas, coffee, cinnamon and coconuts. George was incredibly thoughtful and provided us with a map for a local walk and clear directions on how to use the public ferry to see the backwater. There was also the option to take a canoe, which we didn't do but might have been good if we had more time. I have recommended this to friends and fellow travellers since our stay in January 2020 and would suggest this as the perfect stop for anyone looking for an authentic, well consider and welcoming homestay. This is not a hotel and it is in a local village. There are some small shops dotted around but no restaurants. The food that George and Di provided is so delicious we felt no need desire for a restaurant but if you are looking for restaurant dining this is not the place for you. This is all about getting to know local people and being welcomed into their home. Thank you George and Di for a fantastic stay!

Our visit was the 3rd for me and first for my husband. Returning for a 3rd time speaks for itself how much I enjoy being at GK Riverview Homestay. It isn't just staying at homestay but more like coming home. I entrusted my husband with George while I under went Ayurveda for 14 days. Simply put my husband informed me he had no desire of going anywhere else. George's place met his needs. He is an avid reader but shared with me that he did little reading as he was too busy watching the wildlife. He was hooked on the organic coffee grown on the property and the delicious food. Husband is a diabetic but Dai and George modified everything to meet his needs. He ate double the amount of food he usually eats and had the best sugar levels he had in years. George caters to your needs such as meal times and dietary requirements. His place is in a small village and not touristy but authentic backwater life. Rooms can be considered basic but as hubby says "the room has everything such a fridge, kettle and the fabulous coffee". Also hubby suffered from a "locked shoulder" for years and George arranged daily massages . He can now raise his arm. Part of the package is a 2 hr canoe tour through the neighboring canals which gives one a new perspective of the backwaters. In the canoe you experience the true traditional mode of transport in these backwaters. George, Dai ,Amma and family forged a friendship with my husband. If you want to experience true backwater life, you will not go wrong staying here . Quoting my hubby"It is addictive". God Bless George and his family. We will return again.

(December 2019) GK‘s Riverview Homestay in the rural area of the backwaters is a wonderful place to experience the real backwaters with all its inhabitants. We fuelled up our souls and spirits relaxing in the hammocks of the guesthouse‘s terrace overlooking rice fields and palm trees. Our most favourite aspect of this Homestay (besides Dai‘s wonderful cooking) was our very caring and generous host George. He helped us organising great trips to the backwaters and nearby cities (Kottayam, Alleppey) so we could enjoy the real beauty of the backwaters beyond the (overpriced) standard touristic programmes. George also gave us insider recommendations and organised transportation to a very special Hindi festival (including elephants, fire and drums) nearby, which we otherwise would never have experienced. The rooms provided all basics needed during our stay and were very clean. Warm water, fan, WIFI and A/C were available. The accommodation fare includes great Kerala breakfast and dinner prepared by George‘s wife Dai mainly using organic vegetables and spices grown by themselves directly at the property. Both gave us valuable insights into country and people as well as practical demonstrations in banana, coconut and spice planting and harvesting. The whole location is run in a very hygienic and environmental-friendly standard way above usual Indian standards. All in all we had great 4 days with George and his family and can highly recommend this wonderful, welcoming Homestay :)

The best place to stay in Kerala, and possibly all of India. A gorgeous setting, in the backwaters near Kottayam, surrounded by coconut trees, canals and rice paddies. Unbelievably generous and gracious hosts (George and Dai) who will do anything to look after you and cook you delicious (Syrian Orthodox) Keralan food. Friendly neighbours. All sorts of wildlife on your doorstep, from birds to toads and monitor lizards. Easy access to boat trips and transport to Kochi or Munnar. It was so nice I ended up staying here for 2 months, and I will definitely be back. It will feel like your second home. Thank you George and Dai!

This would be my 2nd time at George’s. I ended my ayurveda treatment at another place when I came down with an urinary tract infection. My original intention was to go to Cherai Beach but with this infection I did not go. George took me to a hospital to get checked. Being at George’s place is like being at home and a member of the family. Let me not forget to mention the excellent food cooked and served with love. The rooms are basic but has everything one would need including fridge, kettle, tea, coffee. The veranda has fans allowing one to sit out all day. There are 3 hammocks by the rice paddy. At George’s place you can indulge in authentic backwater life. He offers a 2 hour canoe tour expertly paddled by Chaco. If you need a tour of Kerala, he can arrange everything. A thousand God Blesses to George and family.

We had 3 amazing days with Georges. After 3 weeks in India, it was the first real guest house we found. Dai, his wife cooked us so many different and delicious Kerala's specialities, and we always ate in the company of Georges. So we could talked about many things, and especially about our questions about the country, it was such interesting. The place is a real paradise, so peaceful, with a pretty garden and Georges manages the different activities you can do, such as canoe, walking.. Thank you for all of these great memories and for being so kind with us, like our Grandfather. We miss you, Camille

I would just like to say thank you for making our recent two night stay with you so enjoyable and interesting. You certainly added a lot of experiences to our first holiday in India; we loved Dai's tasty Indian meals, the canoe trip through the water hyacinths, the local walks and the amazing 3 hour ferry ride as well as the view across the paddy fields. We feel we have seen a more real side of India that hotels could never provide. Thank you both.
