I have reviewed this earlier but now I feel there is an improvement overall in terms of facilities, toiletries, reception and house keeping. It is close to Caritas hospital and close to temples and shopping in Ettumanur. The breakfast was also carte and not buffet but still they provide all.

A good stay : The rooms are neat and clean though a bit small. There was a slight problem with AC control in the room. Kindly fix it. The housekeeping is good. We haven't used the restaurant. However we are satisfied with the overall service...

Kerala always surprises you with the facilities in its rural area. Technically most of the area which you see as you drive through Kerala, which appear as mini townships and small towns are all panchayat/village areas. Hotel Excalibur is another such hotel located completely in the rural outskirts on the State Highway no.1.
Hotel Excalibur will surprise you with the kind of facilities a hotel in rural India can offer you. Clean and good rooms, good service and Wi-fi is what made me most happy. My guests where happy and content. The food options are good too. The complimentary breakfast is decent.They do have a weekend lunch buffet, the quality of which is decent. I also would recommend trying Diners Inn Restaurant just opposite if you are staying at Excalibur.
The hotel is very near to the main hospitals of Kottayam district. Would be a good place to put your medical delegates coming down for a conference at the Kottayam Medical College.
However if you are a visitor to Kottayam town or Kumarakom, I suggest you avoid Excalibur. It is just because of the pathetic condition of the main road to kottayam, which is always clogged with traffic. Who wants to waste 1 hour on the road to cover less than 10 km during the peak time. However it is a good choice for visitors planning to go to St. Alphosa Shrine or Eetumanoor Temple.

If you are a native of kottayam or a visitorbto kottayam, you would realise the lack ofbgood dining choices.Excalibur on MC road near Mata hospital is a nice cosy hotel Plus points Very courteous staff Loads of space Hygiene Food especially north indian is good.buffet is average Good ambience Good parking space

A very decent hotel on the high way for activities in and around Kottayam.The USP of the hotel is its staff. Very friendly willing to help and work hard. The rest of the facilities are nothing to write home about, particulary the infrastructure and amenities . The TV and the wireless hardly work and when the TV works, it has distorted picture. The hot water in the room comes after wasting precious water. I understand that it was alright in some other rooms. The management needs to check these out if they want to draw customers.The very good rating is entirely because of the staff and not for the facilities provided.

Stayed at this hotel for a night in August to attend a family function.This is a new property and we were very pleased with the facilities and cleanliness of the room and the bathroom.The room had all the amenties one would need and a super comfortable bed.The bathroom was also very modern and neat.Staff at the front desk and room service and housekeeping were courteous and professional.We had the breakfast (which was included in the room tariff)and the buffet lunch at the restaurant below. The price for the buffet was quite reasonable and though the spread was not very lavish..both meals were pretty decent and worth the amount paid.Other plus points...free wifi and parking. This hotel is on the Ettumanoor -Kottayam highway and is technically not in Kottayam town so if you have any engagements in the town it would take a while to get there plus you would need to have your own transport.This could be the reason that there were very few guests staying at the hotel but for those looking for a quiet ,clean and neat place to stay ,away from the hustle and bustle of Kottayam, this is the place.

My self and my wife had stayed at Hotel Excalibur at Kottayam and we found that the hotel was too good. We had infact stayed in this hotel on our way back to visit Kumarakom and since all the hotels in Kumarakom were charging very high we thought to stay some where in kottyam and then visit kumarakom for a boat ride. While we thought our desicion was good as we also had visited local trip to great temples and also visited St.Alphonso shrine and vagamon. And the place vagamon just rocks as it is really cool. Starting from check in till check out we had throughly enjoyed the services of staff and their prices are minimum and great rooms. we will agin visit the hotel.

On 22nd October my brother and mother stayed in this hotel for a day on their journey to coimbatore.The room was big with neat linen and blankets lot of furniture too the bathroom very clean with toiletries coffee maker and hairdryer were available.All the staff especially the front desk employees were pleasing and very cordial.Worth staying in this hotel.

I visited Kottayam to attend a conference with my daughter. We had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Excalibur. The hotel is situated between Ettumonnor and Kottayam. The Hotel is worth the name and is really excellent. The hotel is too good. The reception area is too welcoming and the staff is too good and friendly and helpful. The room service is excellently fast. The complimentary breakfast is of quality. The hotel is worth staying for relaxing oneself from fast life of todays world. I wish to visit again this place and stay in this hotel in future if i get a chance. It is worth spending money and staying in this hotel. It is very near to the bakery junction, kottayam.

The excalibur hotel register put us at the second floor. can't get a good night sleep with the constant machinery running noise. The hotel lobby is very nice to put us on a different floor. Room is quieter and with a better view.
Room doesn't have coffee pot nor microwave. A cup of coffee costs $4+, so bring your own kettle.
