We had an absolute great stay at Sowparnika Hermitage Guest House with Fenton and his family. Very kind, very helpful, very supportive. The location is really good, very quiet and hidden away, only max 10 minutes walking distance away from all vibe restaurants, bars, churches and the beach front. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended in all aspects!
Well located in the centre of Fort kochi. Clean and quiet. The host was very helpful and booked me onto a backwaters boat trip as well as helping with transport to munnar (local government bus from Ernakulam KSRTC bus stand). Very easy staying here, I was well taken care of. Would highly recommend. Great South Indian breakfast. Different everyday. Sometimes sweet sometimes spicy, always tasty. Thank you for my excellent stay!
We had our best stay at Sowparnika hermitage after traveling 8 month through Asia. The family is verry homely, they even taught us how to cook fish byriany ! The place is clean with good wifi and kitchen access. I definitely recomend it!
5 times Wow for 5 Stars. It is not easy to get here. When driving a KB Jacob Rd, you need to spot a small signboard on the street that leads away from it, pointing this hidden accommodation. Despite the very early time, the owner greeted us at the door. We quickly dealt with the formalities. Our bedroom had everything you need for travelers: a large wardrobe, table, chairs, a huge bed and bedside tables. The dining room and the generally accessible kitchen with a refrigerator provide comfort to those who would like to cook themselves. Very quiet and peaceful place. A map of the area is hanging on the wall, indicating more interesting places. The Manager will showed and explaining how to get to them and in some cases will arrange for you tickets at very good prices. He, and his family is extremely helpful. The guest house is located about a kilometre from the center. It's easy to get to it on foot or by tuk-tuk. Considering the owner it was the best accommodation we got in India on this trip. Highly recommended. Will be very difficult to get better place in Kochin. Ask owner about everything - he is a walking local Wikipedia. :)…
I stayed for 4 days took some advice and headed south but came back for another few days. 10m walk from some great restaurants, 15m walk from the port and bars. Comfortable value for money room with a really friendly family - all you'll need!
I stayed at sowparnika for 5 nights and I had an excellent time there. The rooms are super comfy, clean and spacious! The staff are warm, friendly and open to help with anything. I'm very grateful to have found this place on my travels and I look forward to staying there again in the future.
I can sympathise with the other good reviews since the owner was quite pleasant and helpful. However the room we stayed in was cramped and smelled, as did the outside washing area. Strange atmosphere. I can recommend the backwater tour organised by the hostel. Further we arrived at 9-10pm and left at 8.30am so review may not be fair.
From the moment we walked in, the house is super clean, spacious, warm, and inviting. Wifi was fast in my room, second floor. The owner and family are super nice, so so helpful. We only stayed one night and on the next day I had a small incident but the owner mr. Naresh and family went all the way to help me, and I'm forever grateful. God bless good people like you. Cheers!
Friendly and very helpful staff. The guesthouse owner was very helpful in the organization of the further trip. The room was clean, neat and cozy. Breaktfast was self-made and delicious. We had a wonderful stay. Thanks!!
The family are lovely and accommodating, you felt like no ask would be too big, and one afternoon we were bought cups of tea to our room. They do traditional Keralan breakfast each morning, which is delicious and different everyday – so we got to sample lots of stuff not just what you get everywhere else. We even got the chance to learn how to make Masala Dosas (cooking the thin rice pancakes needs some fine-tuning). It’s in a great location, in the centre of everything, the rooms are spacious and have access to balconies where you can relax in the afternoon, reading books and watching the local goings on across the rooftops - this place is really good value for money. There is also a beautiful mosaic of the Maharaja story painted throughout the house, and a nice living room for chilling and yoga mats are available if you fancy a roof top yoga session, if you are lucky Giresh will take a session! Highly recommend staying here, we stayed for three nights and had a great time!…
