We loved staying in this beautiful heritage homestay. Teak floors and ceilings and a quiet area to relax during the day. The AC bedroom was extremely comfortable with plenty of hot water in the shower. It is very well placed for the main sights and yet in a quiet, peaceful area of town. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly owners who would organise tours or trips if required. They were also a fantastic source of historical and local information when we chatted with them! We would definitely come back.
Good room but no refreshments in the room. Unfortunately our shower had a broken tile so cockroaches were seen at night. That was off putting. Owner was helpful but everything had been organised for us via our company. However I think she would have helped you organise your trip. Breakfast basic compared to other places we stayed at.
What a beautiful residence. Built by the Dutch way back. Polished teak wood everywhere and very comfortable rooms. Breakfast was good and location was excellent for the Fort Kochi area. Friendly helpful owners.
We had 3 night stay in one of the Delux double rooms . The room and the house were fitted out lovely in true heritage style with good amenities. Bed was a bit firm for my preference but my partner thought it was very comfy. TV was stuck on only one channel until the last evening but that wasn't a big deal. Location was perfect and our hosts and staff very friendly
We spent a week here over the New Year period. It's run by a family and they were the some of the loveliest and most welcoming people you could ever meet. The homestay is absolutely stunning and you feel welcome at all times. We had room 7 which was one of the top floor standard rooms in the back annexe. The room was spotlessly clean and had all you could want, with a brilliant hot shower!! The breakfast was vast and very fresh. Overall a fantastic place, and I wouldn't hesitate recommending it to anybody. Thank you so much x
I stayed at the Chiramel for 9 nights in February with a group of friends and could not have had a better experience. Asha was a wonderful host and keeps the gorgeous heritage home spotlessly clean. The historic ambience was wonderful. Wooden floors, family treasures and serene quiet. Walking distance to everything, the beach, the main street and all the historic sights. Lily street is quiet and just up the way is Dal Roti, Anokhi is next door and FabIndia and Ambal clothing around the corner. Nine nights seemed like a long time but I could have stayed longer. Breakfast served in the dining room was a treat. Thank you Asha, Dilshad and all the staff. See you again sometime.
Wonderfully restored property, highly polished wooden floors and surrounds, good service and a fully comprehensive breakfast. A real treat and a comfortable air conditioned room. Even included a satellite television in each room.
We stumbled across this place in a guidebook, and are pleased we did. We first were in a standard room, but managed to upgrade for some nights into a heritage room (which we'd recommend as it's not much more expensive but you get a lot more for your money!). Breakfast was nice, and the service was very friendly. They organise some trips for you (for a little commision), and I'd recommend using uber rather than their preferred taxi service as it's cheaper. Wifi is a little patchy but otherwise no complaints!
Gorgeous heritage rooms are well worth the small extra cost - don’t hesitate! Common areas are beautifully furnished and maintained in local heritage style - even lovelier than in the photos, there is a tranquil feel of other times to this place. Super convenient location, walked everywhere. Booked kathakali, taxis and other outings for us very efficiently. Overall definitely exceeded our expectations. Small suggestion to owners - add a plate of fresh fruit as a breakfast option! One important negative - avoid booking the ground floor standard room in the back courtyard. The courtyard is nice but one of our group got this room and it was dark with a damp smell in the room and a shower that didn’t work well. It only cost a small amount less than the lovely heritage rooms - definitely spend a bit extra to avoid if possible. The staff were understanding about our complaints but the place was full - they did however kindly make a gift on departure of a lovely silk scarf to the person in our group who got that room to make up for it which was a nice gesture.…
I had booked a night for the 24 of December today and after a change of events, I decided to cancel my booking. After doing so I received this email from the owner "You are booking & cancelling you are fooling us you stupid foolarrogent fool". Such message is completely unacceptable for an accommodation provider, and I was really shocked when receiving it. I am so relieved I am not going to spend a night there and would advise you do the same.
