Nice quaint hotel, great location. Rooms we had were large and comfortable. There were some minor renovations taking place when we visited . The morning (very limited) breakfast service was extremely slow.
Great location - within walking distance of the Basilica, Kathakai centre and the Chinese Fishing nets - but we did find it noisy, particularly from motorbikes and howling dogs! Our room (no 3) was colonial in style, comfortable and spacious. We didn't feel we had the friendliest of welcomes here although the staff were OK and on hand (to immediately resolve) when we woke to no water one morning.
This hotel is old and a bit down at the heels, but the staff try hard to make it work. When we visited, breakfast was down to eggs and white toast, and the food service was being scaled back. The room was huge and comfortable, and it echoed a bygone age. The staff tried hard to be helpful. Overall, we enjoyed it.
I can only echo previous comments about some of the hotel areas requiring some TLC. However I give an excellent overall rating mainly due to the staff and their great customer service skills. ALL hotel staff made our Three night stay comfortable and pleasant, we felt well cared for. The rooms were serviced everyday and clean. Furniture in our room was antique with a bit of a colonial feel. Breakfast was basic but enough to set us up for the day. We had a lovely sitting out patch on the balcony by our room overlooking the courtyard which was lovely in the evening. Ms Meena travels was extremely helpful kindly investigated day pool use at other hotels and our taxis for collection from train and dropping off at the airport. We were sad to leave. The hotel was value for money and…
Quirky heritage hotel in excellent position. Our room was spacious and was like stepping back in time, we had a seating area overlooking the courtyard outside the door. The breakfasts were good and the staff friendly, taxis were organised for us from the train station and then back to the airport - Meena was also very helpful. I think because of the age of the building it needs constant upkeep and some areas need attention, but that did not detract from a most enjoyable 3 night stay.
