Boutique hotel in the heart of Fort Kochi. Walking distance to almost everything there us to see and experience. Very well maintained, well appointed rooms with a rustic touch with every modern amenity you can expect in a star hotel. Service was immaculate and prompt. Great food at the restaurant and a very cute lounge bar for beer and wine. Thank you Surya for making our stay memorable
beautiful small estate pefectly located, they even rent bikes for a nice tour around the fort. In the courtyard they have a little swimmingpool and sunbeds to relax. The staff is super friendly. Surya made everything possible. highly recommended
Passing 2 days in Cochin, the Malabar House is a place really to be recommended for its authenticity, its setting, its location in a quiet area of Cochin, for the refinement of its decoration, but also and above all because we feel feels at home there .. a real quality of service, the friendliness, the attention of each member of the staff, the sense of detail ... the Malabar House is a real parenthesis of sweetness to recommend without hesitating for a second!
Not all boutique hotels get the combination between refinement, warmth of service and quality of food right, but the Malabar House does. The setting is magical: the building has been transformed into an oasis of calm that oozes authenticity. Here you will witness the passion of the owners in every single artifact that has been lovingly collected over the past 25 years and dotted around the house. Not all may be to every guest's taste, but this is not the point; the care that has been put into it, is. The rooms are atmospheric and comfortable. All feature cool marble floors, large bathrooms with rain showers and outside areas, some more private than others. A daily replenished fruit basket and fresh flowers offer nice touches. Beds are as comfortable, as they are "dramatic" (some four poster, some antique, all quite high). The food is probably the best in Fort Kochi (I suspect it may be one of the best in a wider list of Kerala/India restaurants). No airs and graces; beautifully balanced flavours, served in portions you can finish, fairly priced and simply presented. You cannot help smiling with every mouthful whether it is the crispy prawn tempura, the moist banana-leaf wrapped fish pollichathu, or the expertly spiced chicken kuttanadan. One of the few places in Fort Kochi that carries a wine and beer licence (no spirits here, buy your gin from the airport), the Malabar House offers a pleasant, exclusively Indian wine list. The Surla Riesling from Maharashtra (the priciest white at INR3, 500 +18% tax) went down a treat! Finally, the service is relaxed, empowered and efficient. The team are very happy to organise anything ranging from day excursions to tailoring repairs, always with a smile. Coming out of the pandemic, I cannot think of a better place to reset and restart exploring India.…
Fabulous service staff were always very helpful .. Place was beautiful.. clean Rooms and bathrooms were very good. Overall property was just fabulous and very well maintained Food was also excellent!!
What to say about Malabhar house that despite not staying there we ate every single meal here! Appams to die for, a lovely prawn mango curry and on request they will fulfil whatever malabari food wish you have, in my case dal paysam. A special mention of the GM John who was a super host and also helped with other recos in Kerala. Malabar house is a gem in the boutique hotel world!
Good lunch and great ambience for a Christmas lunch. Quite a variety of food items. Anas the balloon guy and magician was quite the entertainer for the kids. Very well decorated and accomodating for a group of 14+ .
Surya and staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are well furnished to the finest detail. Breakfast was the highlight, we were served with good filter coffee and a choice of local Kerela or continental breakfast. The staff really did their utmost best to treat as homely 👌
