This charming hotel, owned and run by brothers Sunil and Alex, is ideally located in the heart of Ernakulam district and only a few minutes walk from the main boat jetty to Fort Cochin. My wife and I stayed in one of the beautiful cottage rooms (₹845 per night), but the standard rooms (₹550) and wood panelled rooms of the adjacent sister hotel (Boat Jetty Bungalows, ₹690) are all wonderful and incredibly good value. The rooms are cleaned spotlessly every day (the delightful citronella fragrance was a pleasure to return to after a day of sightseeing). All the staff are friendly, helpful and have big smiles on their faces. We were both quite unwell during our stay for about a week and the staff took the best care of us. Sunil obviously takes pride in ensuring his guests enjoy their stay, with countless recommendations on places to visit and eat. We planned to stay for a few days, but ended up staying for 3 weeks!

After a last minute cancelled flight we arrived in Kerala without a hotel booking at 8am. Most of the hotels in the area were reluctant to accomodate us. We tried some of the hotels on this street and the one opposite this hotel rudely quoted us an astonomical figure. What a relief to find the Hotel Maple Regency who had nice rooms in a great location and polite and eager staff. They also organised a river tour and an airport drop off for us.

With 4 nights in the area, we decided to stay in Ernakulam instead of lugging our stuff over to Fort Cochin on the ferry. Our room was pleasant, with a clean bathroom and A/C. Our favorite part was the guy at reception, who every day gave us personal recommendations for where and what to eat. He booked a great one day backwater tour for us, which picked us up from the hotel (be aware, they probably won't bring you all the way back).
Think twice about the laundry service, it wasn't really dried, as I see another reviewer also mentioned.

I understand that you have featured in your tourist publications Hotel Maple Regency XL/1511, Cannon Shed Road, Kochi, Kerala, India. I had the occasion to stay in Maple Regency for nearly 09 days from about the 22nd of December 2011 to the 31st of December 2011. I stayed with my son and it was a very pleasant stay. Location was excellent with a few good eating places including a few good restaurants within a radius of about 300, 400 meters.

The most satisfying part of my stay was the assistance I received from one of the owners Mr. Alex. He has excellent communication skills in English and a very down to earth person. He was a ready reckoner not only on tourist related matters but also on other information relating to India and more particularly to Kerala. I had been a very wide traveler internationally and I do not hesitate to state that he is one of the finest persons whom I have met in the travel trade in my many travels round the globe from USA to China. His personal presence makes a huge difference for anyone in choosing Hotel Maple Regency as your accommodation unit. Rooms are absolutely cheap and it is a truly a budget hotel.

Thanking you,

Yours sincerely,

Stayed for one night . Great location , no longer a restaurant downstairs- but cheap Indian Coffee house just over the road , Internet cafe available over the road in the lobby of Sapphire Hotel too.
The staff very helpfull , rooms very clean , I had a room on the first floor , without air con this was an OVEN , either ask for a room higher up ( the first floor is quite closed in) or get an air con room IF There is one available .
A good place and location to spend a night while passing through .

We stayed 9 nights in Ernakulam due to many problems and organizing we had to do. The owner-brothers of Hotel Maple Regency are most helpful and did know qualified answer to any question you may think of. They have no prejudices against anybody and took us in with our two little dogs and our trikes without problems. The cottages are spotless and were cleaned every day seriously. For the budget price (790 Rupies for an attached cottage with tv) you get the absolute maximum value. The maple regency was one of our preferred hotel in 5 months travelling India.

It was good experience with Maple Regency. I had visited several times there, clean and neet rooms. Medium size room. Upstairs access only by stairs. Near to boat jetty and marain drive. Subash park also very near.

A hygenic and affordable hotel for practical people. A brother hotel of the Boat Jetty bunglow. Have stayed in both the hotels. Not a hotel for the nerds or snobs. Whenever me and my family come to Cochin, we stay in Maple Regency or the brother hotel Boat Jetty bunglow because of the trustworthy, kind, hygenic staff.

I am in Kerala for my job for last two years and we travelled across the Kerala. We stayed in top class and the down the line transit hotel. But everywhere the customer service is worst in Kerala. They only like money to earn and like to lick foreigners feet as they pay in $.
This hotel we took it a transit place to stay as we were travelling Kochi unplanned. We got the number through tripadvisor and that was our last mistake. We enquired couple of times over phone about the availability and the person Sunil Mathew asked very rudely whether we are coming or not..
That was the signal and we shouldn't have come to this hotel but as we reached late and already spoke to Sunil so we came down. We reached night 10pm and he was asked too many questions and had a very rough discussions with him without giving us room to check in. He was asking wrong questions and what a bad attitude he has..
He gave us a 4 sharing room in 1600rs and claiming that they are running the show low.
That's it!!! And no more service from them.
No soaps, no water and A/C in room 105 were not working and not cooling effect was not there.
Morning we had to vacate the room by 12noon as this hotel has a 12noon checkout time.
We took a room double room (non AC) as we have to just dump our bags as we had a plan to roam in the city.
In the evening when we came back Sunil was there and he said since 3 persons are staying in the room so we need to pay extra 100rs for the extra bed. We don't have any issues but his behavior was so bad that my wife and my brother have to personally went down to talk to him.
I strongly suggest not visiting this hotel anytime as they will claim that they are running the show cheap but they are cheap in their nature.
Please learn the customer service and then open a hotel for the people...
This place is over hyped...
