Chic luxury heritage boutique hotel in Fort Kochi. This is the latest treasure that has been created with great outdoor dining by the sea, one of the only spas that offers both western and traditional treatments in the area, and an infinity pool with great views of the sea and the English style garden. The indoor lounge is fantastic for a relaxing evening. The lighthouse bears witness to many a ship passing by and the ships that sail by seem to walk into the property. The hotel was the residence of the founder of Cochin port Sir Robert Bristow and has been receiving great reviews from all its guests. The hotel is a true sanctuary to relax and rediscover yourself.

I spent a week in this hotel, and really enjoyed it. The pool is beautiful, my room (King with balcony) was quite comfortable, and the staff was friendly and accomodating. (I left off a star because they did not take a credit card, and this was an inconvenience.) The location of the hotel is great; off the beaten path but you are on the water for great views and sunsets (no beach access.) Nearby are shops and restaurants in walking distance. Kochi is very spread out (airport is more than an hour away) so if you are staying in Kochi, this area is where you want to be!

3 of us girls went on a Sunday evening, the place was crowded but had a beautiful seaview, it has both inside and outside seating. We had the seafood platter- amazing! (Jumbo prawns, fish, mudcrab and rice- 2.5k cost ) though the rice was a little dry every thing else was splendid.

Brownie with ice cream was a bummer as the sizzler got the brownie burnt ☹️

They do serve beer. Its a lovely and must visit place

i consider myself to be lucky to have stayed at this gem of a place, on this repeat visit to this corner of Cochin inhabited by some unique individuals including the owner of this heritage hotel reeking with history of Sir Robert Bristow the creatir of modern Port of Cochin. this hotel is situated in the most unique corner , the only one in Cochin to actually face the Arabian Sea from whence a host of visitors arrived here following the Monsoon winds. a young enthusiastic management, walking distance to everywhere in Fort Cochin. a comfortable romantic stay is guaranteed,,

Aside from the view, there is little while is positive that can be said about this hotel.

The property , which has great potential, is totally run-down, suffers from a terrible lack of maintenance as well as the owner's ignorance toward the lack of service being given to guests.

My room was located above the kitchen from which loud yelling, music and banging could clearly be heard from 07:00 till midnight, this as if it were not obvious that the noise was a major disturbance for guests. Staff disposed of empty beer bottles by throwing them in a pile under room window at midnight, every night. Many of the room's facilities did not work - half of the light bulbs were burnt out, no water pressure in basin tap etc. etc.

I can only recommend NOT staying at this over-priced property.

This hotel can be described at best as tired and at worst dirty and dingy.
There was an issue with our booking, we had booked a suite with balcony and sea view through booking.com. On arrival we got a ground floor room with doors that opened on to the bar/restaurant area. The hotel said this was satisfactory as we didn’t specify a private balcony!!! Booking.com were shamefully no help!!
The room itself was large and the air conditioning worked well but it was dark and the soft furnishings were stained. The bathroom shutters were filthy and there were cobwebs in the shower. If we needed hot water we had to inform reception so they could turn something on.
The pool area comprised of 3 battered sun beds, it also doubled up as a smoking area where bins were overflowing with rubbish and glasses and bottles were left for days. Needless to say we didn’t sit there or see anyone else doing so.
The bar area served just cold beer and wine and was quite busy on one of the nights we were there. We didn’t eat in the restaurant as the food served at breakfast was of a very poor standard.
It is a shame that this hotel is in such a poor state as it’s in a good location but the whole place needs a serious overhaul. The photos you see must have been taken 20 years ago. We checked out early.

Beware of the “Pool view villas”.

These are standalone structures in a very run down condition.

My spouse and I had to walk out the very moment we stepped in to the room as it was not in a livable condition for us.

1. Visibly dirty bathroom and bathtub
2. Foul smelling and discoloured linen
3. Blood stains on the wall (probably due to swatting mosquitoes)
4. Non-staying guests seated and drinking alcohol in the area right outside the door.

Two of the front office staff were considerate to understand the concern.

But the front office manager Girish was rude and adamant that the services were impeccable and also said, “you booked the room, you can stay if you wish to or you can leave. But there won’t be a refund”.

One of the other staff intervened to help and settled a partial refund. But I am still following up for a full refund as I literally did not stay at the location for more than an hour.

The last email I received from the front office said, “As per the management rule we can't provide the balance amount because it includes the booking commission taxes and our cancellation charges.”

Feel free to contact us for further clarification.”

My mother alongwith her friends visited the property. Checkin experience was fine. As soon as they entered the room, the light was not working. They had to call the electrician to fix the same. I had booked the room for 3 person. Per night tariff was almost 12k with taxes. My mother is a frequent traveller and knows the etiquettes of a good 5 star property. The reason to choose the property was the location and the reviews and when the tariff they are charging so high, the expectation is of good service.

After the light issue was resolved, they again had to call housekeeping for making the room. The answer they got when asked why the room was not made, it was hilarious. As per the staff they make the room only when the guest arrives irrespective of the confirmed booking. Toileteries, Towels, water bottles, etc had to be placed according to the person booked. Again, they were arguing and didn't provide the things.

After settling down they ordered tea. One and a half hours later they left to have dinner at the hotel restaurant. When they enquired about the tea not delivered with waiter, again the answer received was pathetic. The waiter replied, he was not on duty and simply went away.

Next day while cheking out, the lady at the reception requested for feedback. To which my mother gave a verbal feedback and told that rest would be shared online. They didn't even apologize for the incompetent services. Pathetic hospitality, Super arrogant front desk staff and Very poor services.

We stayed in Old Lighthouse, Kochi thinking that it is a beach property but it is not and actually, they have made it like a roadside bar. we faced the following issues with the room on the ground floor-

1. There was a lizard inside the room. That was found very near to my bag in which food items were kept. On telling the hotel staff they seemed pretty casual about it as if we are living in some jungle.
2. There was no ventilation inside the room and no exhaust in the washroom. It was a gas chamber throughout our stay
3. The linen and curtains are also not that good and old, they were smelling
4. There is also no privacy for a couple immediately outside the room (same wall of the room) there is a sitting area for bar where people continue smoking and drinking throughout the day. Not sure if this hotel owner/manager knows about hotel planning and customer privacy
5. The bed was also not good. It’s two different single beds with different-sized mattresses, which was not at all comfortable

Never had such a bad experience with any hotel. These guys have some serious issues as for them customer satisfaction means foot. At this price one would get a good 4/5 star property easily. On highlighting all these issues, we decided to not continue our stay with this hotel but do an early checkout on which these guys didn’t even refund the night not stayed. Well done! Keep that money to further spoil other customer’s experience

This hotel apart from its location, is the worst that an accommodation can be. Nothing works, filthy housekeeping, dirty linens, broken bathroom fixtures, dirty room and washroom, pathetic stale food, old worn out furniture, noisy, genset or power backup not working , no hot water in the washroom, infact there was no water supply itself in the hotel. Staff least bothered about anything. Most rundown place one can ever see. Highly disappointing and disgusting.

The images have little to do with reality. The hotel is unkempt and worn out. We had booked there the worst room of our trip to India, at a totally unjustified price based on the photos. There was mold in the room and all over the bathroom. It smelled very muddy and was so damp that all our things stank and after a short time were also damp. The bathroom fittings were loose, there was no hot water. The walls, light switches, toilet flush, washbasin, etc were dirty. The ventilation pipe was clogged with rags. Since the outdoor area of the restaurant was on our room doorstep, it was noisy. The internet connection went down again and again. Complaints were ignored.

Hi Ahsan, There are a number of places of interest around Fort Kochi. If you are a foodie, there are numerous quirky cafes all over the neighbourhood like The Teapot Cafe. The best meal we had was the fish procured from a local fisherman and taken to a sidewalk shack which cooked it as per our choice (for a charge of courde) The spice market is where you can buy fresh spices at wholesale rates as well as pre-packaged masalas for cooking along with attached recipes. Any rick driver will gladly take you there. There are also several important churches around as well as the Jewish quarter. My suggestion is that you look at the Things to do section of Fort Kochi on Tripadvisor. Have a great holiday!

There is no private beach. But a public beach is within a short walking distance. Hotel has a nice sea facing sitting area too.
