The Tower House sits facing the Chinese fishing nets, marking the spot of a 17th century light house which has given it the name. Cannon balls once fired out from its thick bastion-walls. This scallop-walled twin-house looks rather like a ship and indeed, boats were brought in on high tide and parked downstairs in its stable and dry dock! Since 1982, it is owned by Peirce Leslie. The character of The Tower House lies in its unpretentious yet proud bearing, almost grandfather like, it sits looking out over the sea, a spirit of adventure surrounds it even today, taking one back to stories of high seas told and retold over centuries. Stately colonial pillars hold up its vast, high-ceilinged halls. The generous arched doors welcoming one to step in to another world where time stretches, pauses to watch the sun set, and then moves ever so lightly towards dawn. Yes it’s the magic of spaces that have seen more history than we will ever see, spaces that we know will still be there to delight those who come long after us. The furniture is an eclectic mix with no attempt to recreate rooms of any one era or type because the residential structure was added on to. It’s the light pouring in through the windows, skylights and the vastness of the indoor spaces that make for an unforgettable experience. Most of the rooms have large four poster beds, and bathrooms that happily accommodate large tubs. The windows have views of the trees or the sea depending on where they are located. Restored to be compatible with present-day needs while maintaining its structural integrity, it reflects different periods rather than artificially being faithful to any single one. It takes you back in time, as moods and memories woven together create a fabric that is strong but sits ever so lightly. The above uncompromising principles of practical use of material and form dictated The Tower House renovation too and its adherence to these very values of being honest to the time we live in while respecting the past that has set new standards in heritage tourism. Discover the old world charm where, sailors, travellers, traders, planters feasted and danced under chandeliers, suspended from high wooden ceilings.

We stayed in the hotel for a night, overall location is a great plus pointer. This property is seriously over priced, the bed linen, towels and pillows are also historic and smell. The hotel is really beautiful but really poorly maintained, there was one sock lying in the pool area for the entire day. Really not worth the stay, this is one the worst hotels we have stayed in past last year.

It is an old colonial building with plenty of character. The public areas are delightful and the pool is good. We had a good room, but limited views - I guess that’s the nature of the building - and ventilation. It was charming, but getting a little tatty round the edges. Breakfast was OK, but we’ve had better for the money we paid. You are located by the Chinese fishing nets in the centre of the old town - a good spot for us to stay.

I stayed at Tower House for 3 nights and the entire staff and management was so accommodating for all our requests. The hotel was impressively clean and food was also simple yet tasty. Vineeta (the main reception person) was always so helpful in giving recommendations and booking things for us. The hotel boasts of historic properties and is very comfortable if you want to experience Kochi’s classic hospitality. The location is amazing being close to the beautiful Princess Street, Vasco Da Gama church, and short distance from all major attractions.

What a beautiful boutique hotel. It’s located in the heart of fort kochi and right next to princess street. Highly recommend staying in neemrana’s towerhouse rather than staying in a typical common hotel. Staff were very friendly and checkin process was seamless. Wished we stayed one more night to use the pool.

The property is very interesting and certainly gives you a sense of history. Its well located. On the whole I found the amenities fairly basic and a bit neglected. The towels were worn out and the carpet in one of my rooms was stained. During the time I was there, renovations were taking place on the ground floor so they moved me to a room on the first floor, there a sofa was being reupholstered. During the day there was quite a lot of hammering which was not pleasant. I was in two different rooms during my stay. The room 'moens' overlooks the street, so if you open the curtains its a bit of an issue in terms of privacy and in general there is a fair amount of noise. Other than that its a nice room. One of the bigger rooms 'mateu' feels half done in terms of the interiors and there is a vast amount of empty space in the room which is not great as an experience. There is also a sky light which you cannot cover even in the night, which was really annoying as there was light in the room from the common area through the night.

Stayed for a couple of nights in The Tower House by Neemrana in May. Superbly located in the heart of Fort Kochi, bang opposite the Chinese fishing nets, the hotel oozes character and old world charm. The property must have been a grand dame once, now aging with modesty and grace. The rooms & furniture are very basic but decently maintained. But for all it’s old world charm and grandeur nothing can make up for the fact that the property does not have air conditioning in the common areas. So, no matter how beautiful the lobby, and the massive halls lined with sofas – even if you want to, you simply can’t sit anywhere in the hotel other than your own room because of the sweltering Kochi heat and no air conditioning. The breakfast is very basic, but difficult with just pedestal fans for comfort. Had expected better from a Neemrana taken over by Neemrana with Neemrana rates.

It was such a lovely stay at the Neemrana, I felt sad while leaving to have to come back home. Thanks to the entire team for the upkeep of this wonderful property. We stayed at the Souza room. Despite not having a balcony or a view outside the room, we fell in love with the entire ambience. Next time we'll probably take a room which has the pool facing view.

This is a wonderful Neemrana property that is in the heart of the Fort cochi area, so walking distance to many of the historical sites, many upscale restaurants, across the street is the river and ocean beach. The staff meticulously clean the rooms and common areas. Each room is large, with AC and includes antique furniture. The old colonial mansion as four or five large living rooms which are great for hanging out. And, breakfast is great. If you are into heritage hotels, this is wonderful.
