We stayed in this place for 5 nights, and we genuinely considered abandoning the booking and going somewhere else. The good: The room was spacious The bad: 1. The communication from the host was terrible. We messaged asking about a late check in and heard nothing back but had our booking accepted so we assumed it was OK. The address listed on the property was incorrect so we ended up wandering Fort Cochin at midnight asking people for help. We eventually got in and had to wake up the caretaker to let us in, after 45 minutes of filling out forms and explaining that our country doesn't have "pin codes", we managed to get into our room. 2. No hot water throughout our stay, apart from 3 minutes one evening - not a problem if its listed as such on booking/agoda. 3. No Internet as tripadvisor states, however the booking.com listing has been amended to show this now. 4. On our last night in the property, the 2 rooms next door to us decided to throw a birthday party for one of their friends. Music played on portable speakers until 2am, on guitars until 3am. They smoked in their rooms and directly outside our rooms, which came straight through the netting. I asked them multiple times if they could contain the noise to their rooms, which they said yes to, then immediately continued. I understand that guest behavior can't be fully controlled by a place like this, but there were 20 people in rooms designed to sleep 3, which shouldn't be allowed. Also, excessive noise past 11pm and smoking in rooms should be handled by management. Truly awful. Verdict: Fort Cochin is a lovely place to stay for a few days, a relaxed vibe and generally friendly people. However, do not stay here. The complete lack of proper management and upkeep leaves the property unfit for purpose. I understand that we've had a particularly bad experience because of the other guests, but that could be you too.

We were 4 adults and 4 children occupying the ground floor in this charming house. The rooms were spacious and quite clean. The house itself is beautiful, lovely stone and wood pillars, and the host, Shankar, was super friendly, warm and helpful. He was helpful during our visit and in the lead up to it. The location is great, despite being only a 5-6 min walk away from the teeming centre, it is a quiet leafy area with beautiful houses. I will happily recommend this place to friends and will stay here again if I visit kochi.

Two of my friends and i spent two nights at this heritage home stay, we shared one room, and had a very comfortable time. Our visit was planned around looking at the biennial, the locations were very close to the homestay. We rented bicycles and visited almost all the galleries. The room at the home stay was very well maintained, and air conditioned which was a priority for us, the help Shankar made the stay extremely comfortable and pleasant for us. We had breakfast on both the days we stayed there. Shankar was very easy to talk to and helpful with travel and food recommendations. They had a beautiful porch we spent one of our nights on. I would absolutely vouch for this homestay. Because im looking forward to another pleasant visit there.

A very beautiful heritage home stay with a character. Location is central (5-10min walk), room was spacious and clean, air fan working all fine and a peaceful patio for a nice rest. Our a few problems were never having a hot water in shower (when we complained the staff who is a 22 year old man explained they fixed it but we still didn’t have hot water). The other issue is this staff does not understand English very well, or does not care :) We needed breakfast at 7 to leave to get to airport but he only made it ready at 7:20 despite we asked many times the evening before. He was saying yes sure, but in the morning he said he was somewhere else (either doing a morning walk or something else that wasn’t very clear to us). Basically there is a lot of nodding and yes’s but not much action :) Also the breakfast was only toast with butter-jam and fruits, so no good if you don’t have a sweet tooth. Most other places serve Indian breakfast and eggs so this one was a disappointment. Overall the place is really nice but management needs to improve.
