Detailed Reviews
I stayed here for one night and had a poolside room overlooking the river. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated with an outside bathroom and lots of organic toiletries including a body scrub and body butter.
The food was excellent - I had pearl fish and also Cashew Nut Chicken with Coconut Rice. They don’t have a bar but the staff offered to go and buy beer for you at a very reasonable price.
I also had a full body massage with Jasmine, which was one of the best massages I had had during my 5 week stay in Southern India.
There is also a shop on site selling clothes and toiletries - I bought a tunic, which was altered for me during my short stay.
All of the staff were exceptional. If I am in the area again I will definitely stay here again.

We chose this hotel initially because of its proximity to Cochin Airport.
We wanted a nice chilled out place to unwind at the beginning of our two weeks travels in India.
First of all the taxi journey is approx 35mins and cost around 1000 rupees and the hotel will organise this for you. So that said we were off to a good start and arrived after our overnight flight from the UK.
A lovely warm welcome awaits you when you arrive.
The small hotel is extremely well built and laid out. Top quality rooms and nice touch is the outside shower.
We had a ground floor room, there are only 7 rooms and it looks like 5 are on the ground floor. Gardens very well maintained with few hammocks, a swing seat and two swings. Infinity style pool was brilliant and really did give you a feeling that you could swim out into the river.
Position is perfect right on the banks of the river Periyar so don't forget to take the one hour sunset cruise around the island. As for the Sunset there are just so many photo opportunities with the vast grounds allowing great shots. We had breakfast every day, lunch twice and dinner three times. All enjoyable with no complaints. They don't serve Alcohol so if it's something you enjoy then either pick it up from the Airport duty free or there are local beer shops you can use. The rooms have fridges which is a bonus. Great hosts who cannot do enough for you. They even arranged breakfast on the day we left at 06.00, now that is great service 😊 All in all a fantastic place wether it's for a few nights or longer. Cherai beach is approx 30 mins away and cost 350 rupees in a Rickshaw to get there and worth a visit.

Room Tip: Our room was a ground floor and furthest away from reception which suited us.

• The location is perfect for a peaceful holiday if you just want to relax. It is far from the touristy crowds, just by the river. Perfect place to Eat, sleep and do nothing.
• The resort has a very homely feel. The staff is minimal, stay on premises hence the risk of COVID exposure is minimal
• The rooms, pool and the place in general are kept very clean.
• Food is pretty much restricted to whatever is available in the Holiday home. Having a Vegetarian preference, the staff were able to provide veggie options –helps if you plan your meals for all the days in advance. I would highly recommend the Appam and stew with coconut milk.
• Wifi is available, mobile network is pretty strong. So you can work from here as well – with a steady supply of Chai from the kitchen.
• On premises there are Kayaks, Badminton kits, Chess boards, books etc available. Ideal ambience if you want to curl up with a book.
• Cherai beach is 30 minutes from here and it will be worthwhile to visit on one of the evenings.
• Cabs are available – Uber and Ola worked well for us. The staff can also arrange cabs/bikes etc if requested.

By far the best hotel we have stayed in during our 5 week trip. It was also the calmest and most relaxed.
Beautiful, very clean and modern rooms. A breathtakingly beautiful environment.
A well-tended garden with a large infinity pool that couldn't be more luxurious with a view of the river.
The staff is enchantingly friendly, competent and leaves nothing to be desired.
The food there was some of the best we have had in Kerala, try the fish in the banana leaf.
The owners are extremely nice and helpful and have created a paradise of hospitality, good taste and relaxation with this resort.
The applications in the in-house Ayurveda area are recommended.
The river is beautiful and very calm, there are no big and noisy motorboats there, our excursions with the kayaks rented by the resort were much nicer and quieter than in the backwaters, nowhere else did we find so much original nature and biodiversity.
The bike tours (bikes can be rented in the resort) in the surrounding places were absolutely beautiful, nice people and nature everywhere.
The excursions organized by the resort were great, good drivers, well organized.
In the boutique run by the owner you can buy clothes designed and produced by her, I bought a lot of beautiful pieces there that I like to wear
All in all, a place that I can fully recommend

Our family of 3 stayed here for 2 nights in January. Spacious clean rooms, super friendly and accommodating staff. The infinity pool is beautiful, the hammocks a treat and everyone so friendly they make you feel at home.
The chef and his assistants make the best of Kerala, Indian or International cuisine. We didn’t want to leave.
We flew into Kochin and they organised an excellent driver for us to take us to Munnar for a couple of days and then brought us to this little paradise 30-40 minutes from the airport.
You can get an hour boat ride on the backwaters from next to hammocks and then come back and have a traditional massage. Both at very reasonable prices.
We can’t wait to return.

It was only a 1 night visit but it’s a really lovely property with a stunning pool and grounds. If we’d have stayed longer the hotel organise a local area tour which would have been interesting and you can also rent Kayaks. Staff really friendly, food very good- only thing is maybe avoid the room with the partially outdoor bathroom- it got very very warm and was quite difficult at night with the bugs. But other than that would totally recommend a stay at this beautiful place.

We stayed here for 2 nights with family (2 adults + 2 teens). We had two rooms that overlooked the river and the pool.
The pool was lovely and was a very welcoming spot to come back to after a day's sightseeing. We went kayaking on the river (which is payable at the hotel as an extra and is relatively expensive) which was also good fun.
The rooms were a generous size and clean. The bathrooms were good.
The food in the restaurant is cooked fresh, which means that you have to order at least two hours before when you want to eat, but that is no real problem and there was lots of choice for vegetarians.
I would definitely stay there again.

My husband and I spent 5 nights here at the end of our trip to India. To echo a previous reviewer if I could give ten out of five I would.
From the moment we arrived we were met with a stunning location and friendly helpful staff. We stayed in the green and black room, it was clean, spacious and the bed was super comfortable. The room had a tv that had an excellent range of viewing options. We came to Cranganor hoping for a few days relaxation and that’s exactly what we got, sitting out on our rooms balcony watching the waters was so peaceful and relaxing. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, from the groundskeeper greeting us with a smile every morning to the staff who cleaned our room. Particular mention to Aneesh in the kitchen and Jeevan and for impeccable service.
During our stay we both opted to get a massage, I got the head and shoulders massage with Josmi which was wonderful. We also opted to do the day trip Fort Kochi and the motorised river tour, both of which we really enjoyed. My husband also did the kayaking which he loved.
Finally the food, every single meal we had was delicious. We had breakfast everyday and we had so much choice, there was fruit, juices, eggs and local breakfast options. We tried a few of the snacks, I recommend the onion fritters. The dinners were outstanding we tried something different everyday and didn’t once get a bad meal. The butter chicken was particularly wonderful.
I can’t recommend this place enough. Justin was so welcoming and helpful as was the office night manager Srisanth.

The resort in itself is gorgeous, with plush furniture and thoughtful furnishings, and a sparkling clean pool; the banks of the river allowing for great sunsets. The food was great too, as were the endless tender coconuts from the trees, and the freshly squeezed fruit juice.
But what is the real game changer is the staff. Aashiq, Justin and the rest of the team were amazing; Ever smiling, gentle and accommodating of our every request. Special shoutout to Aashiq for remembering the tiniest details! They really make the place and the experience what it is.
Can't wait to come back to this beautiful place!

Visited Cranganor riverside resort with family for a weekend. Perfect resort close to Thrissur and Kochi which is wonderfully maintained, scenic and not overcrowded .The staff were very friendly,Ashiq was our man Friday and the food especially seafood was simply wonderful and served with lot of affection. The infinity pool lives upto its definition and the evening boatrides were very relaxing. The location on the banks of Periyar River is just perfect. It is different from many of the ultraluxurious places and has a kind of homely feel which will make you want to visit again. We had elders as well as kids and all of us had a relaxed weekend. A trip to remember in Covid times and highly recommended for a weekend stay in God's own country.
