Soudhamini Homestays is, hands-down, the best homestay I’ve ever lived-in, in last 30+ yrs of my traveling. Located approx. 10 mins drive from the main Chikmagalur town, the homestay itself is nestled amid a sprawling lush green plantation. The entire area has an ambience quite unparalleled & I guarantee, that all of you, who crave for complete, absolute, peace & tranquil, and crave for the melodious noises of chirping birds & rustling leaves, and the unmistakable feeling of how we humans are/were expected to live “with” the nature, rather than living-by-destroying it, then this place is for you! The property itself has an old-world charm, so much so that it is literally mesmerizing & intoxicating! The property owners & the staff, will go to every possible extent, in making certain that your stay there is comfortable & memorable! The local delicacies of food served here, are astonishingly delicious, finger lickingly yummy & will leave you satiated & fulfilled beyond your wildest of imaginations. The aroma & taste of delicacies served to us, continues to linger on our tastebuds even today. The entire property is shockingly, surprisingly & astonishingly squeaky clean! This is a HUGE THUMBS-UP, because we too, are fanatical about our cleanliness, hygiene & doing things in a disciplined manner all the time! This is one location, I am going to visit @ every opportunity I get, again & again & again! Pros: 1. Super squeaky clean 2. Surreal Location 3. Pristinely well-maintained (it’s a sight to behold actually) 4. Outstandingly delicious food 5. Congenial hosts 6. Unparalleled peace & tranquil 7. Close to main city & nearby to the popular sightseeing avenues Cons: 1. Only one... that we couldn’t stay there long-enuff (although we would have gladly stayed there for months @ end)

Had recently been to this homestay with family of 6 members and 2 infants and didn’t feel Welcomed at all! The host was only busy maintaining the property. The first thing we received as welcome message from host was “please make sure your kids don’t litter” and repetedly reminded of the same!

Saudamini was introduced by our friends who also joined us during the trip. Its an estate bunglow converted to homestay. the owners stay in the main building and then they have couple of rooms from there and a large villa in the same property. We visited during the july rains. So intermittent rainfall was expected. I think the property looks and feels better during this season. The bunglow is part of a 100 acre coffee plantation to which free tours are arranged in the homestay owned offroader jeep. Property is well maintained with everything kept spic and span. the continuous supply of hot water from boilers ensure long hot showers. All modern fittings and amenities one can notice. The rooms are very spacious equipped with flat TVs and wooden panels. The hosts are excellent and take direct involvement in the home-cooked food prepared using some of the finest ingredients and staff who always carry a smile and serve from their heart. We took the recommendations from the hosts and had a one day paid tour through one of the travel operators. That saved our day in traversing the peaks without having to drive through difficult terrain with a lot of traffic. So if it a peak season better use a drivers service as it will save your day and you can focus on enjoying nature. All in all a wonderful stay and we are sure to go back to Saudamini with friends and family. Highly recommended.

Soudhamini Homestay is a jewel in Chikmagalur. It's an absolute pleasure. We were a group of 3 families (6 adults, 2 kids, 1 infant) from Bangalore and we had a wonderful time. The main property is a 100-year-old building that has been renovated with modern amenities but keeping the traditional look & feel intact. There is also a new double-storeyed English castle-like building which has 2 bedrooms, one on each floor. The rooms are extremely spacious, the decor is minimalistic & splendid. In fact, the entire property is inside a 100-acre coffee plantation and the luxury of space is something that city dwellers would cherish. The decor in both the buildings, the old one & the new one is classy. Silence is what I personally long for in a vacation, & there is total silence in this place. Mr. Kaushik & his wife have been extremely cordial & welcoming hosts. Spend some time with them listening to stories of the place, the history & heritage. A walk in the coffee plantation is a must. If you are a bird lover, do take an early morning walk around the place. It's teeming with different species of birds. And then the food. It's gorgeous. They provide a set menu with minor customizations, but the taste is something that you won't find in hotels. It's really homely. But the main part is the freshness of the ingredients. This is something that you will clearly see a difference if you are used to online & retail outlet purchasing in the city. There is a lot of difference! We would definitely like to revisit.

We spent four charming days in a Holiday Lodge on a Coffee Plantation. The owners were simply charming and nothing was too much trouble. As a guest from the United Kingdom accompanied by Indian friends I can confirm we were looked after like royalty. Nothing was too much trouble. The facilities were comfortable, safe and secure. Staff were attentive and the facilities were spotless. Fees were very reasonable and we were offered a guided tour of the plantation. The local facilities were pleasant and really interesting and the various nearby Temples were beautiful. We recommend Soudhamini Homestay without hesitation. The holiday was in luxury Cabins. This is not a Hotel. We visited before the Coronavirus Crist occurred hence not being able to comment on their present policies

One can really connect with nature in Soudhamini. The house is located inside the coffee estate which makes the stay a memorable one. Vasavi madam is such a sweet host. Enjoyed the pristine nature and pure forest air. Place is only 8 kms from the Chikmagalur bus stand. Food was so healthy and delicious and served love. We took a long walk inside the Estate. A very safe place too. Hot water is available.
