It was big family trip with total 12 people and kids, all of them were happy about the services provided by the resort staff. All the staff members are courteous and helpful. Rooms and balcony are spacious. Bunch of rope activities to try and enjoy. Campfire provided for the group separately and also they arranged the music system on request. Food is good and tastier. Thanks for the staff for arranging the birthday cake on request as i mentioned kudus to the staff and there service. Cons: Hot water is a major concern, we did not get hot water and ended up using kettle, this needs to be fixed Rooms and washrooms need to be more clean, bit of average cleanliness Swimming pool is good for photo session only, the chlorine content is so high, will end up with burning eyes and itch skin, so be careful. This needs to be maintained Some rope activities bad in shape, needs to fixed. Food is good, but the items are limited in the buffet, management need to think on adding some more items to the menu…
Although it's a small resort, it's cute and well maintained. Staff is courteous n helpful. Views are spectacular. Food is delicious, although options are limited. Wifi is decent, especially if your room is near reception.
Our first holiday post the pandemic. We browsed through several places (Chikmaguluru, Coorg, Ooty, Chennai, Pondy, Gokarna) and several resorts before finalizing this place. The primary criteria of the place is the distance from Bangalore (The resort is around 4- 4.5hrs drive from Bangalore). We were planning for a weekday stay as the weekends were almost full and we wanted to avoid crowded places. We booked this through Agoda and the entire package (BF+Lunch+Snacks+Dinner+ Stay) came to ~18k for 2 night/ 3 day package The resort -- Exactly 10kms from city centre, at a slight elevation. The ~200m drive from main road to the resort resembles a mini off road drive. You will enjoy this drive post sunset. They have a parking space for around 8-10 cars, which I guess is more than enough. You will be greeted with a well-maintained swimming pool at the entrance, a cafeteria and the reception. (My kids spent close to 3 hours in the pool everyday). Caution - if you are going with elders, select a room on the ground floor that is closer to the reception. Else, they will have trouble going up and down. We were allotted an Estate View room that is behind the main rooms/ reception that we see in the pics on TripAdvisor/ Agoda and other websites. These rooms are much more peaceful. The best part is that there is one more swimming pool near the Estate view rooms - very well maintained, but smaller than the one that's at the entrance. This acts like a private pool and very good for couples to spend time together. Near the estate view rooms, we also have a place for campfire in the nights and they also have a natural dance floor - Open air audi under the trees. They also have a speaker that can be connected to your phone so that you can be your own DJ. During our stay, there were 3 families with kids - all of them had a gala time grooving to some nice beats. Overall feedback on the resort + room --> Very nice, spacious, Good view. BTW - We never felt the need for AC inspite of hot weather in Chikmagalur. Food --> We are a vegetarian family and we loved the food. I will not say that the buffet spread is lavish (like a typical start hotel) but it is more than enough. My kids enjoyed the food a lot - less spicy but tasty food. They do prepare non-veg as well and I am not the right person to comment on the quality of the same. Special mention to Mr. Chandra Mouli sir. He is the manager/ in-charge of the resort and he took very good care of all our needs. The staff also deserve a huge applause - always a smile on the face and happy to serve you. The only setback is the network connectivity. If you are going only for holiday, you can skip these lines and enjoy the stay. But, if you are planning to work from there, please keep in mind that broadband connectivity is good only at the reception. You do get signal in the room when you connect to wifi but the connectivity is very abnormal. I took a call from the reception but the people on the other side had a tough time following me. There was another issue with regards to voltage fluctuation in the room, but there was no impact whatsoever. so, ignoring this point.…
Highly recommended if you are open to offbeat places. The property is situated literally amidst a coffee estate. That being said, limited internet connectivity should be factored in when you go to spend a weekend. Centrally located and all the tourism spots are well accessible from Spectrum. Hospitality is spot on with utmost concern for hygiene etc. We opted for a package that had meals included. Chefs make sure a tasty meal is served after those tiresome treks to make your experience wholesome. Though a bit remote but very secure as there are other homestays nearby! PS: Chikmangalur is a generic town and doesn’t have a lot of tourist places. The places with riveting scenic beauty are a bit far off from the main town (~10Kms from MG Road) and hence it makes more sense to choose a property which ensures your proximity to nature. Homestays are best in that regard! Have a wonderful trip! Cheers! :)…
Awesome location of the hotel amidst the greenery..we received a warm, friendly and generous hospitality..food was very tasty..staffs were very kind and helpful..on opening the windows, you are into the natures lap..
The ezperience was just awesome, the food the hospitality and the location were too good. As it was raining we could not do all the activities but still had a great family time...special thanks to jayapradha mam for the follow ups and the arrangement.
We enjoyed the stay here. Very helpful stuffs. Food here is mouth watering served hot and fresh. Special to mention manager Nanjappa. He is cheerful person and takes care of your need everytime. The property is situated in a peaceful location. This is having a small pool and other activities you can try. Highly recommed the homestay and looking forward to visit again in group.
Me and my friends went for a trip to Chikmagalur and we decided to stay at The Spectrum Home Stay. Our choice was good and we had a good experience at the home stay. For the price which we paid, its worth. Please don’t expect too much luxury here. The swimming pool is not that big but we had a good time. Reception staff are friendly. Food was good especially the vegetarian food. Non veg food was average. They arranged a jeep safari to Mullayanagiri peak on early morning. Overall we had a very good stay and experience.
The spectrum serves tasty food both veg & non-vegetarian. Kids will enjoy the place in the coffee estate. The staffs are very cooperative! Lots of adventure to explore. Small pool. Good camp fire set-up.
Chikmagalur Karnataka has many Home stay options with about Rs 1000 per head to Rs 12000 per head. Many of these hone stay reaps the benefit of being driving distance from Bangalore as well as Mangalore. Young crowd from Bangalore finds it easy to reach this place within 5 hours. Hence any weekend getaway plan can mean Chikmagalur home stay. This has resulted in plenty of home stay choices. Spectrum is one them. Having situated in Dasarahalli village premises, about 8 km from the town, it is easy to reach. This place is situated in about 4 acres of coffee plantation. Also surrounded by other coffee estate. We stayed 2 nights and 3 days. I will straight talk about plus points. 1. Very tasty and sumptuous feed, weather it is breakfast or main meals. We had veg food and found everything tasty and fresh. Enough varieties to be happy. Coffee is their speciality. 2.Rooms and bathrooms are clean. Running water available. Back generator to take care of power cuts. 3. Young boys who serve you are friendly and helpful. Always available for any assistance. 4. Calm and serene world. Manager of the place stays next door. Points to ponder are 1. Little congested open space. Lots of steps to claim up and down. 2. If u have not taken your vehicle, getting transportation is expensive and inadequate. Overall worth the money.. …
