Ive always had serai chikmaglur on my bucket list and I was able to book it for my 10 th wedding anniversary. From the time we arrived till we left the staff made us feel warm and welcome. This is the best vacation I have had in a long time. The rooms were well maintained and it was private.
Our anniversary dinner was set up with decorations in an outdoor cabin and it was done in the most wonderful way.
The food at the restaurant too was outstanding. Even a simple fried rice was cooked to perfection. There was nothing that disappointed us.
All the staff we interacted with were supremely helpful. However a special mention to Mr Wilfred Sequira who understood our taste and curated the most perfect menu for our special dinner. A shout out too Sumanth, Pradeep, Ananya and Nikhil too.

My stay at the property was excellent, marked by a friendly staff and a beautiful setting that contributed to a memorable experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff went out of their way to ensure that every need was met with promptness and courtesy, making me feel welcome and valued. The property itself was stunning, with well-maintained grounds, comfortable accommodations, and a range of amenities that enhanced the overall experience.

However, one notable drawback was the cost of the food. While the quality of the meals was good, the prices were considerably higher than expected, which could be a deterrent for budget-conscious travelers. Despite this, the overall experience was positive, and the exceptional service and beautiful surroundings more than compensated for the expensive dining options. For those who prioritize a luxurious stay and excellent service, this property is a fantastic choice, though it may be wise to consider alternative dining options if cost is a concern.

The Serai Chickmaglur is a beautiful Resort spread across 70 acres of lush green surroundings and the place is serene. The property has the looks, layout and ambience comparable to resorts in Mauritius, Bali , Thailand ( Ko Samui) , Seychelles which I have personally visited in last 2 years. I stayed in Estate Jacuzzi Villa. The rooms were quite spacious with the sitting area , bathroom were spacious with 2 separate washbasin and bathtub. Outside the villa the lawn and a good spacious siting arrangement. The toiletries were good. We had a warm welcome from the front desk by Mr. Sumant the front office Manager and his colleague Ashwini and later during the stay Ananya . In the Restaurant the Breakfast spread was too good and we were spoilt for choice. The fruits, cereals, Juices and Health Drinks , South Indian and North Indian dishes, Egg Preparation. The Restaurant Staff very courteous and saw to it that were well attended. Mr. Abhishek, Mr.Swagat, Ms. Esther. They really pampered us. I specially mention about Ms Esther a ever smiling face and cared for us during our 4 days . In the night she used to call us whether we had our dinner and enquired about our well being. I really appreciate her hospitality. I want to mention about Mr. Uday the Buggy Man always at our service to ferry us from our Villa to Restaurant / Reception.
The Naturalist Mr. Pradeep a very knowledgeable person on Birds and plantation we enjoyed the secession of Bird Watching and Plantation Tour. I am surprised that Serai Charges Rs. 500 to the guest for the Bird Watching for a 2 hours secession this was a big disappointment . Last November I had been to a Kumarkonam we had a free Bird watch tour for nearly 2 days as I love to watch birds and click photos. I would like mention that when we approached by Mr. Wilfred for our choice of food we told him we would prefer sea fish ( curry and fried ) prepared in Mangalorean style on Saturday 28th Oct for Dinner. We were surprised that the message was not passed to the Che f prepared it some other style no doubt the curry was tasty but the fried fish was not served with the main dish and not as per our taste. I believe there was some confusion as Mr. Wilfred was on leave or he forgot about our choice.
I choose this Resort as in 2009 December I had Stayed in Bandipore Resort where I had a very good experience.
Overall our stay was very comfortable and we enjoyed every bit of pampering but the Resort management has to take care of the some things which I have mentioned - Charging for Bird Watching, Proper Instruction to the Chef of guest's choice and Charging for my Drivers stay. During my stay in Bandipore I was not charged for my Drivers stay . I firmly believe the management has to look into this issues seriously .

This property is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are gorgeous. We had three rooms, each with their own private plunge pool... what luxury! The rooms are large with plenty of seating, excellent A/C and a bathroom that included a huge tub, large walk-in shower and a separate W/C. It was heaven. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the pillow and sheets were the best of the trip. There were also complimentary snacks in the rooms including nuts and cookies.
It is quite a walk between the main building and the rooms with the little pools but the grounds are pretty and the staff always helpful so it wasn't an issue. The area is also near a bird reserve and so we saw hornbills flying by and so many others. The rooftop lounge was great with excellent food and service and breakfast was wonderful.
Our only regret is we had only booked one night here... enjoy!

Amazing property, great hospitality!! Must visit! Everything about the stay and property was incredible. Girst look at the reception lobby and the splendid view of plantation and villas from there is enough to make you fall in love with the place. Hospitality is top notch. Front desk, Restaurant managers, housekeeping, spa - everyone is very professional, helpful and polite. Spa is one of the best we have seen so far. Special mention of Suma who takes care of the kids day room/ play area- very helpful and good at her work. Very polite and friendly..amazing with kids. Overall, it was a total worth place and trip!

The Serai is an immaculate property situated on a beautiful coffee plantation. The hotel is surrounded by greenery and the sounds of the birds are extraordinary. Each room is clean, spacious, and full of amenities like a large bathtub and great shower. You will feel like you've been transported to your own relaxing world apart from the hustle and bustle you likely just traveled from.

However, what really makes The Serai special is its staff. Gagan Meet, the head of operations, frequently checked in with our party to make sure every part of our stay was top-tier. When someone in our party fell ill, he and another staff member oversaw her transportation to the hospital and after-care at the resort. The chef, Anil Kumar, didn't just make amazing meals but at every meal he came out of the kitchen to help craft dishes for someone with an allergy in our group. There are too many staffers to list by name but they all excelled at creating a wonderful experience.

We cannot wait to return.

Me along with my family had come down to Serai to spend a day as a part of an short outing. The property is located 7 kms away from Chickmagalur city.

So I have a lot to say about my stay in Serai, I will give a short rundown my experience

Check-in : As we entered the property, the Serai staff assisted us with transporting the luggage to our private villa. On entry, we were served jaggery coffee and chocolates as a complimentary. The friendly reception staff who was assigned to us gave a brief about the various amenities in the property and later escorted us into our private villa.

Private Villa: So we had booked 2 private villas, one comprising a pool and a jacuzzi. The rooms are spacious and are upto the standards of a 5 star level. The bathroom is also huge with a hot tub placed in the center. In addition each room has different jars of condiments placed as a complimentary (Chocolates, Cookies, Dry Fruits). The room also has a TV and a drawer.

One thing to note is that there are additional charges levied if we want to opt for an extra bed.

We did enjoy the pool and the jacuzzi in the property 😁.

Plantation Walk: We can came to know from the Serai staff that they organise a plantation walk 5 pm, where they also provide a battery operated buggy for elders. Pradeep, an avid nature enthusiast was our guide for the evening.

He was very friendly and a gave tour on the entire property where he explained about each variety of plants, trees and also about the various varieties of Coffees and how it to undergoes various steps to an end product. The staff were kind enough to provide us a buggy later to tour the rest of the property.

Restaurant: They have a in-house restaurant named Odyssey which has a nice spread of Global, Indian, Malnad cuisine. The preparation takes time but the food there was excellent.

Also the breakfast in the property is free for all guests. The breakfast spread has plenty of options ranging from English, Indian to Malnad style cuisine ( Do try their Kadubu with Veg Kurma)

Check-Out: The check out expérience was smooth as well. Where they give time to settle the bills from restaurant. The staff were also kind enough to give some Chakorta fruit 😃(as there are many trees bearing lot of fruits) which we noticed during our walk in the property.

Overall the experience for me and for my family was excellent , it’s totally worth what we are paying for. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the property. Thanks for the Serai team for making our experience memorable😄

We, my husband and I along with my parents, stayed at Serai Chikmagalur for 2 nights just before Christmas. We were welcomed with local coffee and chocolates, shown to our spacious rooms which was ready when we arrived by extremely professional staff who were polite and helpful the entire stay. Big shout out to Ashwini who took great care of us and ensured all our needs were met.
We had a plantation tour, then played some games in the indoor play area, enjoyed the jacuzzi in our room. The facilities are amazing, immaculately maintained, food was great as well, we were presented with our pictures in a frame while checking out, felt it was a nice touch. Overall an amazing 2 days in the lap of coffee platation and highly recommend The Serai, Chikmagalur.

The Serai Chikmagalur was the perfect start for our kid’s summer vacation. We visited with our 9 yo and 1 yo and had a wonderful time there.

We were a bit worried about some reviews saying the resort can be boring, as we planned to spend all our time at the resort itself. But we were pleasantly surprised to find a full fledged play room for kids catering to kids of all ages that was a lot of fun to both our kids. The play room has an Xbox in addition to other fun games. The cherry on top was the play room in charge Suma. She helped my kid get the hang of the Xbox games and played a number of games of chess with him. She is very good with the small kids as well. It’s a good place for kids to spend time and pretty close to the restaurant, so my elder one used to run off to play there as soon as he finished his meals.

In addition to the play room they also have a game room with a snooker table, TT, carrom board, chess, 2 foosball tables and so on. We enjoyed quite a few games of TT and foosball there.

The food at the restaurant was excellent. The breakfast buffet served the best dosas, omelettes and vadas. The coffee served was awesome. The menu for lunch and dinner is limited, but they all tasted good. The wait staff at the restaurant also was very friendly. Our little one became good friends with one of the wait staff Gori.

The resort itself is very beautiful and serene. Absolutely no noise other than the birds and the water flowing through the walkway. You will spot cats and dogs in the property, it’s a 70 acre coffee plantation with just 7 acre for the resort. I think there are only 28 cottages and we felt like we had the whole resort to ourselves most of the time. Only when we went to restaurant would we see other people staying in the resort.

The one thing we dint like about the resort was how dark it gets at night. It can feel a bit creepy especially for kids. I wish they would improve the lighting at night, make it a bit more bright along the walkways.

The property is very good, the food excellent, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. There are only 29 villas in the resort and we stayed in the Estate Terrace villas. The villas are huge, well appointed, very clean and extremely comfortable. The breakfast buffet spread was wide and included a lot of local delicacies as well. For the ala carte menu available for lunch and dinner, be it Global, Indian or the local Malenadu cuisine, Chef Anil and team's preparations were very tasty! The desserts were very delectable!

A special mention to Suma, the care taker of the kids play area. She was very patient in entertaining our daughter with various games.

Overall, a very pleasant stay and a comfortable weekend getaway!
