Detailed Reviews
We stayed this property for one night. We got to know about this property from another homestay. Our experience was good as it's located in coffee estate and nice surrounding. Rooms and Bathroom are clean. But Bed is little small for 2 with a kid. But we managed. Breakfast and dinner were average. This section can be improved as the option was less. But staff are very courteous and well behaved. Our room has the balcony and we enjoyed balcony view in the chill morning weather

Pros: Beautiful cosy Malnad style house . The property is 100 years old and the antique look and feel gives you a nice feeling. The food is excellent , hospitality of the cook cum attendant is worth praising she kept on taking care of the guest entire time she was present there.
Room tip : 2nd room on right after entry with balcony.
Cons: Rooms are having leakage problems in ceilings which could ruin the night if it rains.
Must try: A morning walk in the woods and the beetle leaf wine.
Advise: A bit of attention could bring good results... Best of luck...

We recently had a 2 day stay at the courtyard. The plantation as such is breathtaking with a stream just behind the home. The Courtyard is a beautiful traditional home with all the amenities. Guru who is the caretaker was always around helping us out with a smile. The food provided by their cook was a south indian treat. And coffee was divine !. Mr.Ashwin was a very hospitable host constantly in touch ,making sure our stay was pleasant. Would love to visit and stay here again just to feel one with nature . Wonderful experience .

I wish I have one more star to select 'Zero' .Such a horrible home stay ever.Rooms are not clean. After hectic journey everyone wuld want to get freshen up.Being a hilly region, its by default expected that hot water will be available. But to my surprise, estate owner said we should inform in prior that we need hot water for which I was not convinced. The funny part which shook me was " No one takes bath at night in Chikmagalur" was the answer I got when I asked for hot water. After long debate he agreed to provide hot water. We checked in at 8PM and waited till 11PM for hot water. For every 10 mins , he says just wait for 10 mins water will be ready. He kept saying the same thing till 11PM.But Finally, my 5 yr old daughter and I had to take shower with biting cold water. There was age old furniture which broke when my daughter sat on swing and she hurted her hand.Food was pathetic.Big "NO NO".We had to starve for the entire night rather than eating that horrible food.My entire trip was awesome except this terrible place. For the amount of money we were charged , we can stay in a beautiful resort with great hospitality.I had been to many places and always prefer home stay sothat we can relax.I booked this thinking the same but that's the blunder I made. After all, I would want to convey you all my dear friends, don't get trapped by looking at the photos. Please think wise unlike us and have a memorable trip. The only good part is supporting staff were so courteous unlike the estate owner.

We were a group of 8 adults and we had booked the entire house for 2 days. We had a great time staying at this homestay. The hosts (Ashwin and his wife) were great and they make sure that your stay would be comfortable and memorable. The caretaker (Manjula) was an amazing lady with endless energy. She was running around the whole day and made very delicious food. We were welcomed by hot coffee and pakoras on our arrival in the evening.
The hometsay is located in a huge coffee estate and also has a stream flowing inside the estate. Its lush green and very relaxing. Overall we had an amazing stay and would love to come back again sometime.

Please avoid this Homestay. The complete trip went on a toss because of the mismanagement for the homestay team. Stayed their from 19th October - 20th October for 1 night. Right from the time of check in till check out nothing was right.
Cleanliness :
Found a big spider inside bathroom..
Found a leech in bathroom ( in revert to my Google review Mr. Ashwin writes claiming of no leeches, this time I have attached the picture as well)
I need to ask repeatedly for a towel and a bath soap. HOMESTAY OWNER SAYS THAT THEY DONT GIVE THESE AMENETIES GENERALLY. I TOLD HIM THAT EVEN A OYO DOES IT.
Safety :
No lights in entrance neither the name says courtyard.
Very risky to get down in dark.
When asked about the same we were asked to switch on our mobile torches ( pathetic).
AMENITIES:
I was informed about bonfire. When asked the same thing to caretaker. He was like in dilemma and he told me that all the wood is damp because they don't have a storage room and he will try with a very uncertain attitude.
Luckily he lighted something with the damp wood which really didn't lasted long....
Food :
Forget about food being good. They don't even understand a thing called sufficient food.
Everything they made except steam rice and Rasam was so limited that it always finishes after two three people having food.
Also I had my stomach upset after dinner but I am not sure wheater it's because of their food or travel so definitely not gonna refer this resort to anyone...
Last comes is a basic service like a hot water in a homestay. Our whole day plan went on a toss because they were unable to give us hot water due to damp woods etc etc . ..
In nutshell a big no to this property...

Let me tell the good thing first before going on with the list of things that are not good. Location and environment is good. Now coming to the things that I didn't like. 1. Need to run for hot water multiple times. 2. Food quantity and quality is not good. If there are good tasty items if anyone going late to dining area, expect those items are over. No refilling. 3. Extra mattress they provide is of cheap cotton mattress with not so smooth. At least coir mattress would have been good.

Mr.Raju was very comfortable until the billing time . It all changed after he over heard the conversation with the other rooms guests who had some issues abt their stay . It started with asking for more discounts on the discounted price. When we didn’t discount he started pointing out the same thing wat the other guests had mentioned . If any hosts are seeing this review I suggest not to host Mr.Raju at u r property . After enjoying everything in the property it’s very disappointing as a host when we get such reviews just for not reducing ₹500/- .

We recently planned a visit to Chikmagalur in a group of 8 people. We reached this place at around 8 at night. We read a lot of reviews about this place and we were really excited to experience a stay in the middle of coffee plantation. But, to our surprise the place was exactly opposite to how we expected. I would give a negative value to their hospitality. It was no less than a service you get in a lodge kind of place. The rooms were damp and stinky with no maintenance. There was no provision of hot water and when we asked them about the extra bed, they gave us extra mattress instead of the bed. The furnitures were so old that they actually broke when a kid was sitting using them. The food there was pathetic and they said that the cook is available only before 7:30 pm. Secondly, when we called the owner of the place, he said that there is nothing that can be done and this is all that you should expect after paying 20k for a night's stay. Coming to the food, it was pathetic and lacked any taste. The campfire also was a big disappointment as they did not have enough wood and had to burn papers which could last only for 5 mins. They just had one person to take care of all the needs. The owner was very unwelcoming and had a very bad attitude and was least concerned about the comfort of the guests. The next day also, we struggled for food and hot water. I would not recommend anybody to stay here after the horrible experience. Also, if you are at all planning to stay here, I would advise you to carry your own water as we could see dead insects in the drinking water.

We visited Chickmagaluru in the mid of last December. My friends suggested Homestay than hotels. That's true. Chickmagaluru is not the place to stay in hotels, roam around and site seeing.
To experience the beauty of Chickmagaluru, you have to blend with nature. I felt, Courtyard homestay is one of that kind which is surrounded by greenaries.
Food is awesome. Credits to the cooking staff (hope i remember the names -manjula and Sheela).
Maintenance guy (I think his name is Ravi), was helping a lot.
I suggest the owner to give some bonus on behalf of us :)
Ashwin the owner, he is kind and very helping person. He was guiding us from day one. Like suggesting places to visit, timings, and arranging driver..
On overall, we felt like "it's our home"
Only disappointment, we didn't get the biryani receipe that we asked for ;)
