It's honestly taken a few months to be able to process just how extraordinary our stay at Villa Camelot with Yamina, Raghu and Dairya was. We arrived in Bangalore after a week too long in Mumbai due to illness. We were exhausted and feeling incredibly homesick. Boy did we arrive in the right place. Yamina greeted us at the front gate with a huge hug and the most incredibly welcoming hospitality. Within an hour we felt more at home then we had in weeks. So much so that in the evening we accompanied Yamina and Raghu to a gallery opening that her friend, a well known and successful contemporary Indian artist had organised. It was truly an experience we never would have been able to have as tourists staying in a hotel. Yamina and Raghu were always happy to answer whatever questions…
Yamini is the perfect hostess and was very helpful even before we arrived, helping with our plans and itinerary. Yamini had a map ready for us, highlighting recommended Pubs, bus routes, attractions, hours and was so friendly, always gracious and with a smile. The room was very attractive, beautiful drapes and comfy bed. The breakfast in the sunny and pleasant balcony was appreciated, especially the South Indian filter coffee. The B&B is in a quiet locality and not in the heart of Bangalore, but very accessible with the local bus a short walk away. Yamini even arranged for our laundry to be done "as a present". We would 110% recommend this B&B.Yamini and her family are wonderful and made us feel very welcomed. Special thanks to Raghu who treated us to fantastic Indian food. Oh…
I'd much apprehension in my heart when landing at Bangalore airport. Well, this was my first solo trip to India, and against advice of friends and family, but I just had to do it! A demure, friendly cabbie was waiting to receive me (I'd placed an advance request for pick-up) and bring me 'home'. I say so for though I arrived post midnight, my welcome was no short of warmth I get when visiting my parents over X-Mas! My experience at Villa Camelot, starting from my first taste of Indian Tea (Chai, as it is commonly called ) at arrival in the middle of the night to the little goody-bag tucked into my hands when departing on to my next destination is something I can write a whole chapter about, but to keep it brief - I was spoiled, pampered, loved and cared for by a most…
My partner and I spent 3 days in Villa Camelot enroute to visit the temples of Hampi. The journey from Brazil to Bangalore was long, and we could not have chosen a better homestay to relax and recover from the jet lag. Raghu’s and Yamini’s warm welcome and hospitality was very endearing and really made us feel at home. The food was fresh and delicious, with just the right mix of indian spices. A great authentic experience for travel in South India… we will surely visit again! Muito obrigado Raghu and Yamini :)
A pleasant change from the mundane business hotels we stay at when accompanying my husband on his business trips to Bangalore. For me, the experience was nothing short of visiting a very close relative's home after years. The warmth and hospitality showered by our hosts, Yamini and Raghu, was endearing, and little gestures of courtesy by their 9 years old Son were overwhelming! Staying with 'Punjabi' hosts, we were not to miss on the much hyped food of the Punjab region - the house speciality 'Aloo Paranthas' for breakfast were simply outstanding, and so were the dinner platters with authentic punjabi home flavours and tastes (we chose to eat in-house rather than try the restaurants in the vicinity). Though Raghu is the 'official' Chef of Villa Camelot, Yamini is exceedingly…
